FileMaker customers who upgrade to Windows Vista should be aware that there are known issues. We are working closely with Microsoft to resolve these issues. FileMaker Pro 8.5, FileMaker Pro 8.5 Advanced, FileMaker Server 8, FileMaker Server 8 Advanced and FileMaker Mobile 8 have not been certified on Windows Vista. In addition, previous version of FileMaker database products have not been tested for compatibility.

While some of our applications may install under Vista, in preliminary testing, FileMaker has found the following issues:

FileMaker Pro 8.5 and FileMaker Pro 8.5 Advanced

*

If you are viewing the Relationships Graph, and click anywhere in the relationships display, the display turns gray, hiding all objects.

*

Clicking any blank space on a layout will cause the layout to turn black, including the Status area.

*

When exporting records, the file name includes the extension of any previously selected Save As Type in the Export Records dialog box.

*

Single mouse clicks will cause a QuickTime movie to shift to the left in Browse mode.

*

Active X does not work.

FileMaker Server 8 and FileMaker Server 8 Advanced

*

Is not supported and software will not install

I have a customer who has installed a run time solution on a computer using Vista, and all seems to be working fine, except....

When copying a 'data file' with records from an XP machine to the Vista machine, the solution on the Vista machine doesn't seem to see the existing records. You can input new records, but the program doesn't see the records generated on the XP machine. This doesn't make any sense yet, and hopefully someone has some insight.
