  1. Hello all, I'm having an issue with my Macbook air seeing 'Connection Failed' for only one dev server, despite other devices being able to see it. Setup as follows: Macbook Air: FM 14 & 15 - able to see 2 AWS dev servers + 1 client server (via vpn) - Personal AWS Dev server = CONNECTION FAILED Windows 7: FM 14 & 15 - able to see all of the above, no issues Ipad 3: FM Go 14 & 15 - able to see all of the above, no issues --------------------------------------------------- The Mac OS is Sierra and the Dev server it won't connect to is now running FMS 15 (upgrade from 14 though this didn't fix the issue). I've spent hours looking through forums etc and have tried deleting the PEM files in the 14 install but to no avail. I'm stumped! Does anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks, Lee
  2. Hi, we are using a little sync script via php, which allows us to store all data from a FileMaker DB into our internal MySQL-Database. The only problem iam unable to solve is how to download images from container fields and store them local on our web server. I tried something like: foreach($recordsPersons as $recordPersonsData) { //saving images to /srv/www/htdocs/ $url_orig = urlencode($recordPersonsData->getField('FotoDatei')); // Search for the extension of the file $url = substr($url_orig, 0, strpos($url_orig, "?")); $url = substr($url_orig, strrpos($url_orig, ".") + 1); // Send the correct Content-Type header if($url == "jpg"){ header('Content-type: image/jpeg'); } else if($url == "gif"){ header('Content-type: image/gif'); } else{ header('Content-type: application/octet-stream'); } // save file local. file_put_contents('/srv/www/htdocs/testfilepicture.jpg', $fm->getContainerData($url_orig)); } I was using this reference: http://blog.myfmbutler.com/?p=104 This Code-Snipped works well, but only writes "getContainerData() does not support remote containers" into testfilepicture.jpg.. We are using FileMaker Server 14. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance and Cheers
  3. I am trying to install supercontainer (2.93) on a Windows server 2012 R2. The Windows installer did not finish, so I tried a manual install with the instructions provided at docs.360works.com. When I try to save the URL rewrite rule I get an error "The data in the page is invalid". When I try to use the option to start SuperContainerServer.jar I get an error "Problem starting server". Any suggestions on what to do here. Thanks Joost Kingma
  4. Hi Guys, I am having some issues related to FM Pro crashing. One of the client who is on windows 8.1 the FM Pro 14v5 crashes unexpectedly almost everyday. 6. San Diego, CA - April 12, 2016 - Productive Computing, Inc., a Platinum member of the FileMaker Business Alliance, is proud to announce the release of Vessel Service Solutions (VSS) version 2. This vertical solution was designed for the marine assistance industry and operates as a virtual command center to manage vessel assistance orders. VSS version 2 offers additional features and modules, a completely redesigned UI, and improved processes for users. What is VSS? VSS was built with a “paperless and efficient” philosophy and allows users to fully digitalize the entire tow order process from beginning to end. As soon as distress calls are received, dispatchers have the ability to send mobile orders straight from the office to in-field captains. The captain receives the order on an iPad and, after assisting the boater, updates and submits the order to dispatch for final processing. VSS also allows invoices and items to be pushed directly to QuickBooks via the FM Books Connector. What's New? VSS version 1 provided companies with a customizable framework they could employ to achieve a paperless solution. Version 2 has been crafted with industry input and takes the entire tow order process to the next level by offering the user a truly comprehensive solution. Dispatch can send, receive, and submit orders for payment without printing a single document. Using FileMaker Go, captains can receive, update, and send orders from their iPads. They can even perform data entry while at sea without an internet connection. Version 2 has expanded functionality to allow users to maintain fuel logs, maintenance logs, maintenance schedules, time sheets, and pull various reports. As with most FileMaker products, this solution allows for customization, including the ability to personalize all terms, disclaimers, notes and signature requirements, company information, tower ID, and company logo in the modules. "We're quite excited about the new and improved VSS, because this dynamic solution enables users to efficiently and digitally dispatch, track, and manage tow orders, eliminating the need for time-consuming paperwork, resulting in improved accuracy and turnaround time. We've had a lot of support from industry leaders, and we're pleased to be delivering something we think will continue to greatly help the boat towing industry" - Marc Larochelle, Chief Executive Officer, Productive Computing, Inc. 7. Hi, I am using Filemaker 14 and Filemaker server 14. I have people DB, Product DB and orders DB. On People DB, I have portals for ralated Products and related orders. People and Orders are related only through Products table. When I open the people layout for the first time and navigate through records to the record I want, I see the products and orders in the portals. But when I open the people layout for the first time and search for the record I want, I only see the data in products table and I do not see the data in orders table. When I click the ralated button I have for products, it takes me to orders layout but shows zero records. I can find the order with order number on orders layout and I see people data on oders layout. This used to work perfect in filemaker 8.5. I am testing convertion to filemaker 14 and I have this issue. I have also shared these files for webdirect and I do not see this issue from WPE. When I make any DB changes an the DB, the records show up. But again when I close the application and reopen and find the record, I dont see them. Please advise.
  8. Hello peeps, I'm just getting to grips with Filemaker 14, skipped 13 so this is the first time I've had the opportunity to play with the popovers which I've been much looking forward to. I have to admit that I'm a little surprised that data entry hasn't been made much easier with the advent of popovers. Creating a data entry interface is certainly easier and looks good too, but the process of entering new record criteria and confirming or cancelling the process is much the same. Currently I use global fields to place on a popover and when data entry is confirmed scripts will: Copy the entered data to a new record, field by fieldClear all global fields used for entryor Cancel and clear global fieldsHowever this takes more script writing the more fields you have and can be approached in many different ways from a control perspective. Before I was doing this, I instinctively wanted to do away with the global 'Entry' fields mirroring actual data fields and instead; create a new record when launching a data entry popover, the fields are probably the same as those already on the layout but only the new blank record has focus, and the new procedure be: Commit recordor Cancel and delete recordThis would, at least in some scenarios be suitable and requires less development overhead because cancelling requires only that the record is deleted and the committing is already done by the user (as long as the record isn't cancelled or validation fails...). ...Yet you can't do this using popovers. Creating a record cancels a popover, end of. The button that launches a popover can't be set to create a record either so I'm stuck with my old methods. Does this actually bother many people? I thought this would be a common functional desire but haven't found much to read on data entry approaches in Filemaker ...what alternative approaches do other people use? Lee

  11. I have posted previously about the PDF creation in a runtime solution. People have offered suggestions although things like monkey bread software etc.. seem a bit complicated. I have created a runtime solution and this is the last piece of the puzzle. The customer is getting ticked off that this last part has become complicated. The PDFs they create are multi layout then I have append in a script to create one PDF across tables etc... One of my solutions was to have the endusers purchase a subscription to Filemaker and then we wouldn't have to worry about the limitations of runtime. The customer was not receptive to this idea. I've looked into plug ins but most are a little too costly. One day when I was searching I ran across a solution about moving the PDF libraries to the runtime solution. Someone had done it, and I didn't bookmark then link and cannot locate the information again. Anyone aware of this method. Any other suggestions, I didn't want to have learn iText etc... I have attached an example of the PDFs we create. Thank you, I've been pulling out my hair! Test.pdf
  12. Hi all, In light of FileMaker 14 (the 64-bit version in particular ), I have had to update some custom plugins that were created with ScriptMaster. However, the new plugins will not show up in FileMaker: First, I upgraded to ScriptMaster Pro 4.42 and used the new UI file. I transferred my functions' code and relevant .jars. I then registered and exported the plugin for Mac and 64-bit Windows. The Mac version worked right away, ruling out problems with my java code. The .fmx64 file however, would not show up in Filemaker at all. I tried installing from a container in a hosted solution, copying the file to the application directory, and copying it to the other plugin locations. My question: Is there any issue with 64-bit Windows plugins and FileMaker Pro Advanced 14? It won't show up in the Preferences > Plugins list at all. All of this was done to fix FileMaker's rejection of my old 32-bit plugin. Thanks - Joseph

  14. Hi all, running into an issue with Quicklook on Yosemite. When we run this script: It causes Filemaker to open two instances of qlmanage, wait a while, then crash. I've heard there are difficulties getting Quicklook to behave in Filemaker on Yosemite, so I began exploring other options. I am aware of how to open a container file automatically using the computer's default settings for the file, but I was wondering if someone could help me understand how to open the contents of a container with Preview for OSX. Thanks for any insight you can give!

  16. 24U releases 24U SimpleDialog Plug-In 5.0 for FileMaker Pro 14 Popular plug-in for displaying native custom dialogs and progress bars brings full 64-bit support for FileMaker Pro 14 and latest operating systems Prague, CZ -- May 28, 2015 24U Software announces a major upgrade of 24U SimpleDialog Plug-In to enable FileMaker Pro 14 to display dynamically created professionally looking OS-native error messages, input dialogs, and progress bars in both 32-bit and 64-bit modes. 24U SimpleDialog Plug-In 5.0 has been rewritten to use the latest OS technologies and take the full advantage of the 64-bit architecture, so that it works well with FileMaker Pro 14 and the current and future versions of OS X and Windows. Other improvements include better performance and better stability when multiple copies of the plug-in are accidentally installed at the same time. Major changes introduced in the version 5.0: Full compatibility with FileMaker Pro 14 in both 32-bit and 64-bit modesThe dialog displaying and handling core updated to use the current OS technologiesResolved collision of multiple copies of the plug-in being installed Other recent changes and new features: Full support for text styles in dialog fields (except for color on Windows)Dialogs can be updated on the fly without dismissing and re-displayingConditional popup menus About 64-bit architecture FileMaker Pro gained support for 64-bit architecture with the release of version 14. Users can choose whether to use FileMaker Pro 14 as 32-bit or 64-bit application. However, if plug-ins are used they must match the architecture of the FileMaker Pro application. It will take some time before all plug-ins are updated to support 64-bit architecture natively. So, if a user needs to use 32-bit plug-ins with FileMaker Pro 14 it is necessary to run FileMaker Pro in the 32-bit mode as well. On a Mac it is as easy as opening the Get Info dialog for the application and enable the option to run the app in 32-bit mode. On Windows the appropriate architecture needs to be chosen before installing the FileMaker Pro 14. 24U SimpleDialog Plug-In 5.0 addresses the need for different architectures by providing versions for both 32-bit and 64-bit environments, letting users use the version that suits better their actual needs depending on other circumstances. 19. Crestline, CA - Dracoventions has released 2empowerFM Developer Assistant v3.0 for OS X with numerous new features, including the ability to replace text in scripts. Dracoventions has also released updates to bring FileMaker 14 compatibility to all 2empowerFM plug-ins except for Developer Assistant for Windows, which will be released later.Plug-in updates and more information can be found at 2empowerFM.com.New in Developer Assistant v3.0- Supports FileMaker 14's new Script Workspace.- Largely rewritten internally for faster searches and future expandability.- You can now find a previous match instead of just a next match.- Option to match "Contains", "Starts With", "Ends With", or "Whole Words".- Option to toggle if the search window remains always on top of other windows.- Find disabled script steps and more by optionally searching in the underlying XML that represents each script step.- Default script search is now performed on a translation of the XML representing each of FM's 167 unique script steps into a string that matches exactly what you see in the script editor. The search also includes metadata from the XML that's not visible in the script editor. The previous Developer Assistant only performed minimal translation of XML before searching which made it difficult to search for anything too long or complicated.- Default script search now includes the name of the script along with the script steps.- Option to display the exact text that was searched, making it easy to come up with additional searches for more specific XML or hidden metadata that you don't see in the script editor.Developer Assistant AdvancedNew Developer Assistant Advanced is an optional upgrade that extends Developer Assistant with the following advanced features:- Find All matches in any type of search. Matches track changes so they remain valid even if you move things around.- Replace text in script steps and in multi-line edit boxes.- Replace chosen matches in the find all matches window.Replacements let you quickly refactor your database by renaming $variables, SQL references, text-based parameters, product names, and anything else FileMaker can't rename for you. Paste script steps or calculations from another DB, then rename all the broken references so they work in the current DB. Use your imagination. Replacements are powerful and will save the advanced developer a lot of time.Learn more about Developer Assistant at developer.2empowerFM.comFileMaker 14 CompatibilityAll 2empowerFM plug-ins, except Windows Developer Assistant, have been updated to work with FileMaker 14.
