  1. Sanity check here...I want to use a popover with a portal to help a user select from a long list of choices in Find Mode. Apparently, I cannot do that. I've tried to populate a global in the parent table and use a relationship with the global on the left to display related children in the portal. Nothing shows. I then switched to a virtual list of choices where the $$vlist is populated by SQL. $$vlist has data..portal shows nothing. Is Find Mode unable to use such a technique? I did follow Kevin Frank's tutorial on conditional value lists in Find Mode. That works wonderfully, except my first popup is too long -- really need that picker!
  2. When accessing a database via web direct from my iPad I am unable to type into any calculation field while in Find Mode. The field behaves as it does when in browse mode. Any letters typed into the field immediately disappear.
  3. Find in Portal- Problem

    Hi, I have Contacts portal on Company layout. Now, I can do FIND in other fields of the portal but email field., I already checked inspector > Field Entry in find mode is cheked.. I have attached screenshots
  4. I feel like I'm totally missing something here...I'm searching for an email address in a contact layout. Manual Steps: I look at a single contact record, copy the email, enter find mode, paste the email in the email field, press enter. 0 found records. I should have at least one found record. Alternatively, I've setup a table relationship to do a similar thing by connecting email and it seems to work to, but I need the search to work...(It must be something simple that I'm overlooking.) Thanks
  5. I'll try to keep this short. I'm having problems with find requests through a script I created. The script switches to a layout that lists every purchase order created by an employee. If the order was submitted it will have a "Yes" in the PO Saved box. When the "Check for duplicate" button is pressed it takes the variables that I set (Serial#, ItemName, Yes) and puts it in the correct fields for a find. THE PROBLEM: When the script runs the find, even if there is a match it will say "no records match". When I perform a find manually it also doesn't work UNLESS I just enter the first word of the item. For example: find for block off plate = no records found.  find for block = shows record.  Some needed info: Script starts out on layout ShopOrderForm (table:PurchaseOrders) Script switches to ShopOrders (table:Transactions) PurchaseOrders & Transactions are related Specify Find mode request has PurchaseOrders:POSaved  Criteria:$$Yes AND PurchaseOrders:Serial#  Criteria: $$SerialNum AND Transactions:item Criteria:==$$ShopItem  If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated! I can't seem to figure it out!
  6. I've set up a database for my organization that can take our total client file (about 20,000 records), drill it down using finds to a targeted list, and export that to a spreadsheet. Easy enough. I would like to have the value lists of several fields dynamically update in find mode. For example, if I had the following geographic fields: State County Town Zip Region (we've already defined this) If I select state and region in find mode, I'd like for the drop down lists for counties, towns and zips to only include those values that are in the correct state and region. Basically, I want the current value lists for any of these geographic fields to reflect the most up to date constraints based off of the selected queries in find mode. All of the information is in one table, and I don't see any easy way to split it into several tables. Can someone help me out on how to do this using a self-join relationship? I haven't been able to get conditional value lists to work at all, even on the most basic level, so a step by step guide with specific instructions would be incredibly helpful. Thanks!
