Hello, I have a filemaker server 15 advanced running on windows server 2008r2 in a local LAN network. I want to connect to server with client (filemaker 15 pro). Everything work well in the local LAN but I am unable to access to the database outside the office using internet connection and IP. I just have made the port forwarding setup (5003 and 16000) but no results. Maybe the Windows server need to be opened in some service or funcionality? Before of the server I had a simepl windows XP pc running filemaker server 5.5 and it work well also outside the lan. Thank you
Hello, I am using l am filemaker 15 pro advanced in windows 10 computer (64 bit, 8gb ram). I buy it few week ago and i converted my database from the old version fm5. The database work properly but it is very slow to open, about 60 second or more. I am working as standalone (no remote connection). I noted thta if the PC is offline (no network or internet connection) the database open in less that 6 second. It is very strange because I have not any ip configuration and any sharing option... what can be the problem? Thank you in advance Vincenzo
Hi to all.  This is my first post and I do not know much about FileMaker . I will try to be as clear as possible to explain my problem , here's an idea of the network I plan to do:    I haven't done anything yet because I would like to have you opinion before I start this project , any advice is welcome.  I want to use FileMaker as BDD for my business which includes: A main Office with a large storage space and two stores with smaller stock . My bute is to manage inventory , invoices, customer ID... from each outlets in "real time" or even by daily updated direcly on the main DB in the office.  My questions are : What happens if one of the servers is temporarily deprived of it's internet connection?  Will it be possible to work on the DB localy  and then apply the changes on the "host" database when the connection is back?  What configuration do you advise in this case ?  ( In the future the database will be linked to a website from the office).  Thank you in advance for your advises and apologize for the lack of clarity.  cordially Thomas Royer .
Hello, I'm new to FMS and I'm trying to figure out why opening a database is taking so long. When I open the DB over our gigabit LAN things work smoothly and the layout opens in 1-2 seconds, but if I switch to our Wireless LAN opening the same layout can take up to 90 seconds and if I try to connect via VPN from home then we're into the minutes time frame. All the calculations occur server side in FMS correct? So if it's sending the same amount of results data why does a drop in connection speed cause such a drastic change in load times, unless of course wer're sending a HUGE amount of data to the client. Is there a way to track how much data is getting sent to the client? The size of the database is really quite tiny; something like 200k records / 3k fields. Server Specs: 10.7 Mac 2x 2.93 Ghz Hexcores 16GB of 1333 Mhz DDR3 ram. The only application it runs is FMS though it does alos serve a file store. The CPU according to Activity Monitor never gets above 1-2% usage.
