Is there a way to uninstall Filemaker Server 11 on Maverick from the Terminal. The FMS 11 'Install/Uninstall' program won't load. Running on a Mac Mini running OS X 10.9.1
  2. LS, We recently migrated from FM14 to FM15 and suddenly some invoices come out strange after the saveAsPdf script step . ( see pic ). When in preview mode everything seems to be ok and is printed to a printer ok. Theme : Classic, Font used : Calibri size 11 and 12. Problem occurs on Mac 10.11 and Win10 with FM15. When I do a print ( to preview ( mac )) and then save as pdf everything is also ok, so it seems to be related to the FM pdf renderer. However, not every invoice has this issue, but I wonder how data could cause this behaviour. Best regards !

  8. San Diego, CA - April 12, 2016 - Productive Computing, Inc., a Platinum member of the FileMaker Business Alliance, is proud to announce the release of Vessel Service Solutions (VSS) version 2. This vertical solution was designed for the marine assistance industry and operates as a virtual command center to manage vessel assistance orders. VSS version 2 offers additional features and modules, a completely redesigned UI, and improved processes for users. What is VSS? VSS was built with a “paperless and efficient” philosophy and allows users to fully digitalize the entire tow order process from beginning to end. As soon as distress calls are received, dispatchers have the ability to send mobile orders straight from the office to in-field captains. The captain receives the order on an iPad and, after assisting the boater, updates and submits the order to dispatch for final processing. VSS also allows invoices and items to be pushed directly to QuickBooks via the FM Books Connector. What's New? VSS version 1 provided companies with a customizable framework they could employ to achieve a paperless solution. Version 2 has been crafted with industry input and takes the entire tow order process to the next level by offering the user a truly comprehensive solution. Dispatch can send, receive, and submit orders for payment without printing a single document. Using FileMaker Go, captains can receive, update, and send orders from their iPads. They can even perform data entry while at sea without an internet connection. Version 2 has expanded functionality to allow users to maintain fuel logs, maintenance logs, maintenance schedules, time sheets, and pull various reports. As with most FileMaker products, this solution allows for customization, including the ability to personalize all terms, disclaimers, notes and signature requirements, company information, tower ID, and company logo in the modules. "We're quite excited about the new and improved VSS, because this dynamic solution enables users to efficiently and digitally dispatch, track, and manage tow orders, eliminating the need for time-consuming paperwork, resulting in improved accuracy and turnaround time. We've had a lot of support from industry leaders, and we're pleased to be delivering something we think will continue to greatly help the boat towing industry" - Marc Larochelle, Chief Executive Officer, Productive Computing, Inc. 9. I've noticed since installing El Capitan that my various mac systems are doing a horrible job in rendering type. Specifically I'm seeing type getting clipped along the top. I've seen it on multiple solutions...multiple layouts...and on two different mac computers. This started happening recently and I think it dates to the installation of El Capitan....though it could date to FM 14.05. It's not impairing use but it sure looks tacky. Anyone else seeing this?

  11. Dear Colleagues, I’m hoping to find a contract FM developer in the Los Angeles area or remotely who would like a small side job building a Filemaker pro database for a project of mine. I need this person to be proficient in Filemaker having experience with building a database from scratch including setting up a couple of reports. The database will be used for cataloging/keeping inventory of a private collection of digital media. Best, Phillip
  12. Hi guys, for the following scenario I would appreciate some help, even if for a (paid) brainstorming on how to archive the result required as this might need some thinking outside the box. We have a running database on filemaker server 14 buildt with the seperation model. All clients access that database via fielmaker pro clients (all on Mac) All files that we are using are stored via SuperContainer on a fileserver and are handled with filemaker. As we are working fully digitized, we have a lot of files, images and scans, also our whole accounting is scanning and importing into filemaker. Now we have to split our company into two companies, company A being 300km away from company B. Both have data that they share and data that they cannot access. For example we are sharing our contacts and company info but not our sales. This is ready for use and working. However, with one task I need help. Where to put the files and how to handle them (and how to set this up). My approach was to find a way to store all the files with Google Apps for work and use the Google Drive App. Supercontainer could then just access the Google Drive folder with all the data and let the Google Drive app do the synching to the cloud. Thinking about it for a longer time I believe it would be nicer if there was a clever way to get the link to the file from Chrome (and Drive) and have filemaker reference that link. In that case a webviewer could show a preview and clicking that preview could open chrome with the link for editing ( downloading). This got me thinking about getting rid of word, excel and pages and open office all together that have to be administred on the client computers... So now the question is if this is doable and to develop a workflow and to find a way to move existing data into the cloud. Anyone interested? Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks, ole
  13. I installed from downloaded image v14.0.4 and then patched to 14.0.4a. When I go to http://localhost:16001 - nothing happens. It just sits on the screen saying that "Admin Console is starting...". I've not been able to deploy or setup anything yet. During install, it is setup to use alternate ports, namely 8080 and 8081 (http, ssl) respectively. When I go to the Console logs, I see this error repeated: XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INTERRUPTED trying to map database No clue how to proceed, anyone else got a suggestion? THANKS ahead!
  14. Good Morning, Stumped with a FileMaker Server 14 installation and getting the PHP web pages to work. Machine Specs: Mac OS X El Capitan v10.11.2 Mac Pro (Mid 2012) Processor: 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Memory: 12Gb FileMaker Server installed SuperContainer 2.93 installed When viewing the FM 14 Console: FM Server is Green Web Server is Greyed out, PHP is enabled and XML is enabled (See attachment of screen shot) Web Publishing Engine is Green ODBC/JDBC is Green When trying to run the test page (Server > Open Test Page and clicking Test PHP Custom Web Publishing) Getting Not Found, The requested URL /fmi-test/phptest.php was not found on this server When I hit the server from a browser, I noticed it's hitting from the Web Server Path and NOT the FM Server path. FM Server: Library > FileMakerServer > HTTPServer > htdocs Web Server: Library > WebServer > Documents The web server path is serving up HTML and showing the PHP code and not processing it. Can anyone help with correcting this problem? We would greatly appreciate it.
  15. Hi everyone, We're having an issue when we do a copy and paste, whether between layouts or to an external program, that means the record number is pasted rather than the data in the field from said record. This is happening more often than not, but of course it will occasionally paste correctly - just to add to the frustration. I've had a bit of a look around but can't find anything on the forums. Any ideas about why this is happening and what can be done to fix it? Thanks! Jenni.
  16. Twice now, over the past few months, I've launched FileMaker Pro Advanced 13 on my mac (OS X 10.9.4 or 10.9.5) to get this error message: I can and will re-install the app, but it's a hassle. Any idea what causes this?
  17. I have several databases that have more than one page. If the number of pages grow, I'd like to be able to identify how many pages are in the set and so indicate in the footer. For example: Page 2 of 10 Page 1 of 20 Page 12 of 15 and so on. How can this function be created? Thanks...
  18. Hello, great people of 360works. Thanks again for making mirrorsync awesome. I posted to the FM Server forum about using FM on a Mac ad hoc network, but thought I'd cross post here because it's really about mirror sync, or my desire to setup asynchronous sync without internet. This seems to be square with what would make mirrorsync even more awesome - being able to work completely offline in field environments (archaeology, for example) - and that's exactly what we're doing. I am sure you've dealt with this before, so I thought reaching out to the source would be worth a shot. Details in the other post, but some more details here: Goal: Run Filemaker in ad hoc network without internet access (WAN). Be able to run FMSA/MirrorSync to sync, using MacBook Pro as server. The Setup: Mac running FMPA 12, network created from this mac. Other macs and iPads connected to this network. The Problem: The iPads may not be on same IP address range, nor have static/reliable addresses. The Proposed Solution: Set static router address and NAT out a range of addresses for the attached devices (, with a range of addresses like The Question: How to do this on a MacBook without a router? We do have Airport Express we could use (See suggestions below) but it'd be ideal to avoid this, since we're looking to build a solution that'll work in a mixed PC/Mac/iPad environment. Any suggestions/solutions are gratefully accepted. FWIW, we're Portfolio Bundle customers (UC Berkeley). Thank you... Michael Notes from Facebook hello mac geeks. looking to build an ad hoc LAN without router (or power) using a macbook pro as host server. You don't really need to plug in the shared connection, you're just doing that to force the dhcp server to kick in, maybe. 25 minutes ago via mobile · Like AJ Alfieri-Crispin On the iPads, the blue circular arrow under the wifi settings will let you set manual IP addresses. 25 minutes ago via mobile · Like Kim Christen fingers crossed 16 minutes ago · Like Michael Ashley ooh, I like the airport express idea, got one of those. 21. Hello I'm having issues accessing a file that was added to Digital Docs tab of the Accounts Table. Both methods drag and drop and insert button were tested to add a PDF FILE and give the same issue. Manage Containers indicate on STORAGE the following [database location]/DB_Documents and on THUMBNAILS Generate and store thumb for images checked, Permanent storage checked. When I try to double click inside the container NOTHING HAPPEN and when I hit the button OPEN it shows the message on the image BUT NOTE that the text on the message is referring to a PNG file and not to a PDF Well using debugger and data watch the container has the correct name of the file "ASAKI prices list 2014.08.26.pdf" not PNG If I open the folder DB_Documents/T01_ACCOUNTS/account_container the files(attached) ASAKI prices list 2014.08.26.pdf AND ASAKI prices list 2014.08.26.png (generated- apparently the thumb nail with the internal storage) are present and when double clicked open without any problems in Preview. FINALLY this doesn't happen if the container has an Excel file or a word doc (non preview) Any help will substantially reduce my level of stress ! Cheers Beto Boton Australia ASAKI prices list 2014.08.26.pdf
  22. When FileMaker sorts records it happens on the client machine. Consequently, sorting can be a very painful process for users over a slow connection to a database. 24. I have been reading through the documentation about installing FileMaker Server 13 on OSX. I only have one server at my location and that also runs my open directory and internal web services. Generally I use opendirectory groups for my soultion permissions. Going by the documentation I do not see a way to install FM Server 13 on this machine since by default uses ports 80 and 443 for it's own "Server" website. In the documentation on Page 72 it says my options are to configure the web services on to use different ports, I do not beleive this can be done, so the other option is to uninstall, also not really an option... So if I go by this documentation my only real option is to purchase a new machine to be my filemaker server... So is there a way to install FM Server 13 on a Mac with running and have both function?
  25. I am having some troubles with containers and PDF files. I want to be able to display the files to end users within the solution (i.e. they aren't downloading them), so wanted to use a container w/ interactive/preview capabilities so they could just scroll through it then and there. However, I seem to run into a problem whenever I host the file on our server and access from a remote client. Here's my testing: Create new file, add container field (internal storage); add field to basic layout, enabling 'Interactive content...' for the field; add PDFs to the file. A ) Storing and viewing this file on my local machine: works fine. I can right click and get 'Insert PDF' from the popup; files that I add to records preview fine. B ) Host the file on a server and open it with a remote client running on the same server hardware as is hosting the file: works fine. Same as A, above. C ) Host the file on a server (same server as B ) and open it with my local machine's client: FAILS. The PDFs don't preview; I am unable to get the right click menu to display anything other than 'Reload'. Can someone help me understand what I need to do here? I thought it might be an 'installed PDF viewer' issue, but the fact that it runs fine when the file is opened from my own local machine seems to go against that. Server is Mac OS X 10.6.8, FMSA v12.03. My system is Mac OS X 10.8 running FMPA 12.05; remote client is FMP 12.03 (?). Thanks, C
