  1. I read that the new 3.01 version does not require Java. When I run FMPAv16 on my Mac (10.11.6) and use the sample Email database it works just fine and I see nothing related to Java. I had the older v2.12 plugin installed on here and have just updated to v3.01 today. When I run FMPAv16 on a different Mac (10.11.6) and install the v3.01 plugin (never had the plugin installed on this machine before today) and run the sample database a Java App runs without any windows, Just visible in the lower right dock and its single menu is titled "Java" Any ideas as to this oddity? 2. Hi Folks, I've broken a pdf saving script which used to work. The filename itself hasn't changed so I don't think that's the problem (there are no /s for instance) - I'm pretty sure it's the file path and Mac OS re-organising itself to sync with iCloud. I'm trying to save PDFs to Dropbox and I think that the Dropbox folder on my my has changed location. According to info, the location is /Users/mikekentdavies/Dropbox/KJA Music Library. The calculation I'm using to set the location variable is below; can anyone see where I'm going wrong? (I've also tried various combinations of filemac: / file: / .. / : etc having read the FM creating file paths webpage.) "filemac:../Users/mikekentdavies/Dropbox/KJA Music Library/Set Lists/" & Gig::Gig Name & " - " & Gig::Version & " Set List.pdf"
  3. Hi I'm trying to develop an interface between my filemaker database and a SOAP service. No where in the wsdl is there any authorisation so I believe I need to send my username and password before the SOAP envelope. I'm trying to do that with Scriptmaster but there are only three input parameters none of which appear useful for generating or inputting the HTTP authorisation Basic that needs to be in place. I can't see the fedex modules which may have had the parameters I needed. Can anybody help/advise or suggest another plugin I should use. Many thanks for reading this.
  4. Attendance & Reward

We are Americans who are a non-profit and have a school for squatter children in the slums of the Philippines and would like to create student attendance database that provides various rewards. Our goal is to encourage the kids to attend school who otherwise wouldn't and provide them with a reward point type of system. Each day they attend school, they get 5pts. If they remembered to wear their school uniform they get additional 5 pts. At the end of the day or the end of the week, they can use their points and trade them in for rice, milk, things that will help them feed their family, get school supplies etc. We would like to account for how often they come to track their daily attendance. We are hoping to include other fields that would be helpful to medical assistance, needs, etc. As of now, we print and laminte, cutout little paper coins we give them and it is a lot of work. We have around 400-600 kids who attend class. Annually we have several large community events where we track the daily attendance during summer of up to 3,000 students who attend. This is all done by hand so a digital type system would really benefit, save time, manpower, and streamline what we are doing. To Summarize: - track attendance - reward attendance and such by point system - can use their student card points at cafeteria for snacks or for extra stuff as incentive to help their families. If you know of something that would help us, or have some ideas, please let us know. ~ Mark
  5. I tried to install MirrorSync 3.17 today on a MacOS with 10.12.3 and FMS 15.0.3.308. The installer is hanging at about 80% progress at "Running package scripts..." Is there an installer log file that I can examine? In addition I noted in the docs the restriction against multiple users sharing the same file on the same device: http://docs.360works.com/index.php/MirrorSync_advanced_topics#Can_I_share_a_device_among_multiple_users.3F I am wondering about the details of this restriction and is it possible for multiple users to share the same db file on the same device if there is no record filtering or record-level access features enabled?
  6. XDBC won't start

Hi there I'm trying to get SyncDeK to connect to FMS 13 on a clients' server. I have it working successfully on my own development server, but for some reason, ODBC/JDBC won't start on the clients' machine. FMS 13.0.5.520 on OSX 10.8.5 Apart from ODBC / JDBC access, FMS has installed and deployed correctly. Although ODBC/JDBC is ’switched on’ in the Admin Console, there is no ’tick’ on the left hand side. Additionally, the fm_xdbclistener process is not listed in the Mac 'Activity Monitor'. I have attempted to start the xdbc process from the command line by using "fmsadmin start xdbc" but receive an error message ("Error: 10017 (Requested object is disabled)". When I attempt to connect via JDBC (from SyncDeK) I get the following message: "Couldn't build table profiles, caused by: [FileMaker][FileMaker JDBC] Connection refused. Check that the host address and port are correct and that xDBC sharing is enabled on the host." This appears to confirm that the XDBC service is not running. I've got a call in with FileMaker support, but wanted to see if anyone else had come across this problem before? I've been tearing my hair out all day trying to fix it, and have reinstalled FMS twice... Thanks in advance.
  7. Over the past ten years our organization have been using a PO database solution to store all purchasing information. Each year the layout would change to illustrate which year it represents. We would like to merge each of these databases into one for better searching capabilities. Is there an easy way to accomplish this task while still maintaining data integrity? Thank you!
  8. Uninstall FMS 11

Is there a way to uninstall Filemaker Server 11 on Maverick from the Terminal. The FMS 11 'Install/Uninstall' program won't load. Running on a Mac Mini running OS X 10.9.1
  9. SaveAsPDF corrupted font or layout ?

LS, We recently migrated from FM14 to FM15 and suddenly some invoices come out strange after the saveAsPdf script step . ( see pic ). When in preview mode everything seems to be ok and is printed to a printer ok. Theme : Classic, Font used : Calibri size 11 and 12. Problem occurs on Mac 10.11 and Win10 with FM15. When I do a print ( to preview ( mac )) and then save as pdf everything is also ok, so it seems to be related to the FM pdf renderer. However, not every invoice has this issue, but I wonder how data could cause this behaviour. Best regards !
  10. how to edit scripts by displaying a repeating field ?
  11. Recently i change my office PC to a Mac Laptop since is much more accessible for me. After getting Filemaker 12 for it, I try running the copy I have of FM starting point and this what happens. I will appreciated any help I can get to resolve this Thank you
  12. I have FMS 13.0.5.520 installed on a Mac Mini running OS X 10.10.2. The server is hosting a couple of different database files; one is a single file solution, and the other is data-separated solution with the data file on the server and the interface file on the client machines.  My problem is that, with both files, users are being disconnected pretty frequently, if they are inactive for more than about 10 minutes. In the database files, the privilege sets are configured to not disconnect when idle, and the server is configured not to disconnect unless idle for more than 720 minutes (12 hours).  Any ideas on what might be going on and how to fix it? It's an annoying problem.  Thanks,  Tom     Â
  13. I'm using FM Advanced 14.0.1 and this strange button appears at the bottom of my pop-us and then disappears. It's inconsistent and only occurs on some of my pop-ups, but not all. Has anyone seen anything like this?

  15. San Diego, CA - April 12, 2016 - Productive Computing, Inc., a Platinum member of the FileMaker Business Alliance, is proud to announce the release of Vessel Service Solutions (VSS) version 2. This vertical solution was designed for the marine assistance industry and operates as a virtual command center to manage vessel assistance orders. VSS version 2 offers additional features and modules, a completely redesigned UI, and improved processes for users. What is VSS? VSS was built with a “paperless and efficient” philosophy and allows users to fully digitalize the entire tow order process from beginning to end. As soon as distress calls are received, dispatchers have the ability to send mobile orders straight from the office to in-field captains. The captain receives the order on an iPad and, after assisting the boater, updates and submits the order to dispatch for final processing. VSS also allows invoices and items to be pushed directly to QuickBooks via the FM Books Connector. What's New? VSS version 1 provided companies with a customizable framework they could employ to achieve a paperless solution. Version 2 has been crafted with industry input and takes the entire tow order process to the next level by offering the user a truly comprehensive solution. Dispatch can send, receive, and submit orders for payment without printing a single document. Using FileMaker Go, captains can receive, update, and send orders from their iPads. They can even perform data entry while at sea without an internet connection. Version 2 has expanded functionality to allow users to maintain fuel logs, maintenance logs, maintenance schedules, time sheets, and pull various reports. As with most FileMaker products, this solution allows for customization, including the ability to personalize all terms, disclaimers, notes and signature requirements, company information, tower ID, and company logo in the modules. "We're quite excited about the new and improved VSS, because this dynamic solution enables users to efficiently and digitally dispatch, track, and manage tow orders, eliminating the need for time-consuming paperwork, resulting in improved accuracy and turnaround time. We've had a lot of support from industry leaders, and we're pleased to be delivering something we think will continue to greatly help the boat towing industry" - Marc Larochelle, Chief Executive Officer, Productive Computing, Inc. 16. I have an FM server running on Mac v13.0.5 that we are doing quite a bit of Server side scripting on. These are either scheduled scripts that run every few minutes throughout the day or "perform on server" scripts that are triggered by users. Every week or so the script engine appears to hang and users will see FileMaker hang when they run a script that includes a Perform on Server step. The scheduled scripts will also not complete. The script engine process is still running but it apparently quits responding. I'm able to get things rolling again by running the fmsadmin stop / start fmse command from the Terminal. The fmserver log files don't show any issue until I stop the service. Then it reports the script engine service as stopped and then restarted. Any thoughts on what might be causing the issue or troubleshooting steps to take to narrow down the problem.
  17. I've noticed since installing El Capitan that my various mac systems are doing a horrible job in rendering type. Specifically I'm seeing type getting clipped along the top. I've seen it on multiple solutions...multiple layouts...and on two different mac computers. This started happening recently and I think it dates to the installation of El Capitan....though it could date to FM 14.05. It's not impairing use but it sure looks tacky. Anyone else seeing this?

  19. Wanted : FM Developer for Audio Archive

Dear Colleagues, I’m hoping to find a contract FM developer in the Los Angeles area or remotely who would like a small side job building a Filemaker pro database for a project of mine. I need this person to be proficient in Filemaker having experience with building a database from scratch including setting up a couple of reports. The database will be used for cataloging/keeping inventory of a private collection of digital media. Best, Phillip phillipbroussardjr@gmail.com
  20. Hi guys, for the following scenario I would appreciate some help, even if for a (paid) brainstorming on how to archive the result required as this might need some thinking outside the box. We have a running database on filemaker server 14 buildt with the seperation model. All clients access that database via fielmaker pro clients (all on Mac) All files that we are using are stored via SuperContainer on a fileserver and are handled with filemaker. As we are working fully digitized, we have a lot of files, images and scans, also our whole accounting is scanning and importing into filemaker. Now we have to split our company into two companies, company A being 300km away from company B. Both have data that they share and data that they cannot access. For example we are sharing our contacts and company info but not our sales. This is ready for use and working. However, with one task I need help. Where to put the files and how to handle them (and how to set this up). My approach was to find a way to store all the files with Google Apps for work and use the Google Drive App. Supercontainer could then just access the Google Drive folder with all the data and let the Google Drive app do the synching to the cloud. Thinking about it for a longer time I believe it would be nicer if there was a clever way to get the link to the file from Chrome (and Drive) and have filemaker reference that link. In that case a webviewer could show a preview and clicking that preview could open chrome with the link for editing ( downloading). This got me thinking about getting rid of word, excel and pages and open office all together that have to be administred on the client computers... So now the question is if this is doable and to develop a workflow and to find a way to move existing data into the cloud. Anyone interested? Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Thanks, ole
  21. I installed from downloaded image v14.0.4 and then patched to 14.0.4a. When I go to http://localhost:16001 - nothing happens. It just sits on the screen saying that "Admin Console is starting...". I've not been able to deploy or setup anything yet. During install, it is setup to use alternate ports, namely 8080 and 8081 (http, ssl) respectively. When I go to the Console logs, I see this error repeated: XPC_ERROR_CONNECTION_INTERRUPTED trying to map database No clue how to proceed, anyone else got a suggestion? THANKS ahead!
  22. Good Morning, Stumped with a FileMaker Server 14 installation and getting the PHP web pages to work. Machine Specs: Mac OS X El Capitan v10.11.2 Mac Pro (Mid 2012) Processor: 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Memory: 12Gb FileMaker Server 14.0.4.412 installed SuperContainer 2.93 installed When viewing the FM 14 Console: FM Server is Green Web Server is Greyed out, PHP is enabled and XML is enabled (See attachment of screen shot) Web Publishing Engine is Green ODBC/JDBC is Green When trying to run the test page (Server > Open Test Page and clicking Test PHP Custom Web Publishing) Getting Not Found, The requested URL /fmi-test/phptest.php was not found on this server When I hit the server from a browser, I noticed it's hitting from the Web Server Path and NOT the FM Server path. FM Server: Library > FileMakerServer > HTTPServer > htdocs Web Server: Library > WebServer > Documents The web server path is serving up HTML and showing the PHP code and not processing it. Can anyone help with correcting this problem? We would greatly appreciate it.
  23. Hi everyone, We're having an issue when we do a copy and paste, whether between layouts or to an external program, that means the record number is pasted rather than the data in the field from said record. This is happening more often than not, but of course it will occasionally paste correctly - just to add to the frustration. I've had a bit of a look around but can't find anything on the forums. Any ideas about why this is happening and what can be done to fix it? Thanks! Jenni.
  24. Twice now, over the past few months, I've launched FileMaker Pro Advanced 13 on my mac (OS X 10.9.4 or 10.9.5) to get this error message: I can and will re-install the app, but it's a hassle. Any idea what causes this?
  25. I have several databases that have more than one page. If the number of pages grow, I'd like to be able to identify how many pages are in the set and so indicate in the footer. For example: Page 2 of 10 Page 1 of 20 Page 12 of 15 and so on. How can this function be created? Thanks...
