  1. I have put together what I firmly believe to be a very polished FM solution for IOS and plan to push this to Apple's App store as a first time developer quite soon using Filemaker's SDK/XCode kit. I do realise the complexity behind this, including catering for data protection during version updates, multilingual distribution, security options, etc. However, my question relates to the legality of: embedding the Web Viewer Tool in the App which, as a small feature of the App, will automatically search the internet for images based on existing field entries. using Google Maps in the Web Viewer Tool. including YouTube links, on another layout, where I have provided a feature for not only allowing the end user to store their own links to YouTube videos but also intend to pre-populate the App with links pertinent to the App's purpose. The videos would play within the app once selected. No attempt has been made to hide the fact within the App that Google and YouTube content is being used. I have searched this forum, the internet and some of Apple's and Filemaker's documentation but cannot find any clear statement as to whether such proposed usage is permissible, especially when deploying as an App Store App. The content itself (the images searched for or the videos linked to) is not embedded in the App. Also, would permission necessarily need to be sought from the creators of the pre-populated linked videos? I would appreciate any advice or reference to documentation which would help to clarify the legality of these matters.
  2. I'm setting a webviewer with URLs from a separate field. It works fine for most URLs, however, YouTube URLs and Vimeo URLs aren't rendering, nothing shows in the webviewer. Videos play fine if part of a page like http://cnn.com. I have the webviewer in a popover. The attached screen: - fm screen: how the URLs are formatted in a URL field - fm screen2: what the web viewer does with a youtube url - fm screen3: what the web viewer does with a cnn.com page with a video playing - fm screen4: what the web viewer set up looks like. Thanks for any insights.
  3. Can the web viewer be used to display raw html like attached? I put this text into a field and have the web viewer reference that field, however it does not display anything. If I add text like http://www.cnn.com it works just fine. html_sample.rtf
  4. Hello, Can anyone point me in the direction to learn how to post images of my inventory items in Flickr and have them appear on my layouts and Filemaker 13? I'm not sure if I use a container field or web viewer. When I use the web viewer I can see a Flickr page but I get an error because I don't have credentials in my database to see the photos. So I need to somehow deal with login to Flickr.I would be approaching this from both linking existing photos to eventually snapping a new photo on FMGo and adding it to record.Really hoping for step-by-step instructions to do this- I am stumped! Thanks!
  5. I am not very proficient with the web viewer in fm, but I was wondering if there was a way to use the web viewer to display only the photo of the linked in profile in my contacts database? Would love to add a little 'human' to the database and we already have most linked in url associated with each contact. Thanks in advanced.
  6. Hi Everyone! I have a problem with something that works fine in FM13, but does not work in FM14. I am using a web viewer to display a *.dwf file, which is an Autodesk file we use commonly for displaying drawings. For those who are unfamiliar, think of it as Autodesk's version of a *.pdf. I'm running Windows 7, and I have the Autodesk Design Review Software installed. When I access the file in Filemaker through the web viewer in FM 13, it displays right in the web viewer, which is what we want. If I do the same thing in FM14, however, it wants to open in the outside application. To demonstrate this, I created a stripped down version for FM13, and one for FM14, and I've included a TEST.DWF file. To use my tests, you would need to save the TEST.DWF file, and insert it as a file reference using the "Insert File Ref" button. Then, you should be able to toggle between "Show Google.com" and "Show File Ref" to demonstrate the problem. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. 7. I've been scouring for signature capture possibility within web direct for Chrome/Android. I'v tried FMEasySignature which doesn't work and I've also updated the code in FMEasySignature to the latest version with no luck either. Anyone have a solution?
  8. Filemaker 13 Pro Advanced. Mac Yosemite. I'm pulling my hair out - maybe somebody can offer a suggestion before there is no more hair left. I can't for the life of me figure out how to script a click in a web page or a web viewer. I have tried all of the following: • Opening a web page outside of FM (in Safari) and trying to click in that window via: - AppleScript from w/i FM (get an Assistive Access error, even though I've allowed FM in Privacy & Security settings - Opening an Automator-created application via Send Event (can't choose the application) • Opening the same page in a Web Viewer and trying to click via the same methods above. Same problems. I've also searched the web for a couple days and haven't found anything that I can understand yet. A few questions: • Is there a standard, consistently-works method for scripting a click somewhere on the screen? (I can provide exact coordinates) • Why do I keep getting Assistive Access problems even after I've allowed FM (and Automator) Assistive Access? • There MUST be someway to launch an Automator application from FM - how do I get Send Event to work? Thanks in advance for any help!!
  9. I currently have a web viewer that contains a google map. On this map I can draw a rectangle to select an area of the map. I collect the the latitude and longitude of the southwest corner and northeast corner into java variables. I am able to print these java variables on the web viewer. They look like this in the web viewer and are formatted in such a way as to be ready for a search range in FMP: NE: 43.02144735023339...43.06470481674727SW: -76.24412939453123...-76.07445532226564 I would like to collect each of these variables and pass them back to a FileMaker scrip which will perform a find on two fields. Is there a way to grab these two Variables from the web viewer and pass to a FMP script for searching the data held within FMP layout
  10. The following code in a web viewer produce a response like "errno=0&desc=SMS Queued&SmsIndex=34", how to get it in to a filemaker field? I Nead to get it without plug in, it should work also for the IOS platform. Many thank for your help. <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC '-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN' 'http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd'> <html> <head> <script> function post(path, params) { method = 'post'; var form = document.createElement('form'); form.setAttribute('method', method); form.setAttribute('action', path); for(var key in params) { if(params.hasOwnProperty(key)) { var hiddenField = document.createElement('input'); hiddenField.setAttribute('type', 'hidden'); hiddenField.setAttribute('name', key); hiddenField.setAttribute('value', params[key]); form.appendChild(hiddenField); } } document.body.appendChild(form); form.submit(); } </script> </head> <body onload="post('http://192.168.1.99/smssend.cgi' {Pwd: '1234','Push': 0, num: '335xxxx', text:'My sms machine Text'})"> </body> </html>
  11. I attempted to integrate the d3.js library into a FileMaker web viewer to display FileMaker data and am coming up with a mostly blank screen. I was following the very cool tutorial by Matt Petrowsky from here: http://www.filemakermagazine.com/videos/beautiful-interactive-custom-charts Anyone able to take a peek and tell me where I went wrong? thanks d3js_attempt.fmp12
  12. Note the following article on FileMaker's website: http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/408/~/open-url-is-not-working-when-used-via-instant-web-publishing They seem to offer us only a single, rather silly, solution: tell your viewers to disable pop-up blockers. But this is 2015. Mobile devices dominate. Pop-up blockers sometimes CANNOT be disabled. And even if you can, you probably SHOULDN'T! As such, it is quite foolish in this day and age for FileMaker to not offer us a more seamless solution. Nevertheless, I am posted this problem here to see if any of you know a workaround. Some may be apt to flippantly say to me, "Just use a Web Viewer in your database." But as you know, there are times when you want the user to click a button in your database and then have the linked content only to display after they have logged in separately for that. I have that setup now, in fact. My FileMaker IWP database automatically logs everyone in because the basic content in the database is PUBLIC. But there are associated documents (PDFs mainly) that I need to make available to users of that database which need to be secured by at Password. I have that setup now, but the problem is that when the user clicks the button to access the Authentication Sheet for access to the PDFs, it is blocked on mobile devices. They won't display the content on iPhones or iPads due to pop-up blocking. And the only silly reason for this is because FileMaker is trying to open the content in a new Window/Tab rather than the EXISTING window. If it opened in the existing window, there would be no issues with pop-up blocking at all. So what is the solution for this? Thank you.
  13. In FMP 13.02 FileMaker apparently fixed the FMP URL for the desktop client, such that it could be used to make a call to the same/local/self file. So I would have a web viewer in a solution and it would use an "fmp://web.address/dbname..." URL that would reference itself, the file that was currently open. I found some references to how to do this, but for some reason things aren't working for me. Apparently, if you are on a non-mobile platform, you need to use "$" as the IP address to reference the local file. E.g. "fmp://web.address/dbname.fmp12?script=AScriptName&$var1=1234&$var2=abcd". This would make the database essentially accept AJAX calls. (Although an unanswered question for me is how does the response or data get back to the web viewer. But for now, I just want to register event that trigger sending new data into the DB.) Here's the code I am using for my web viewer definition. The short description is that I am trying to integrate Full Calendar into a web viewer in a solution. I am trying to configure the onDrag event so that when an event is modified it sends the new date range back to the DB. ----------------------------- Let ( [ _IPDestination = If ( Left(Get(FilePath);7) = "fmnet:/"; Get ( HostIPAddress ) ; "$" ) ; _fmpURLString = "fmp://" & _IPDestination & "/" & Get(FileName) & ".fmp12" ; _fmScript1 = "?script=FullCalendarChangeDate"; $CurrDate = "2015/7/01" //hardcoding for testing purposes ]; "data:text/html, <!DOCTYPE html> <html><head><meta charset='utf-8' /> <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='http://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/fullcalendar/2.3.1/fullcalendar.min.css'/> <script src='http://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/moment.js/2.9.0/moment.min.js'></script> <script src='http://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.3/jquery.min.js'></script> <script src='http://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/fullcalendar/2.3.1/fullcalendar.min.js'></script> <script> $(document).ready(function() { var httpXHR, fmpurl ; $('#calendar').fullCalendar({ defaultDate: '" & $CurrDate & "', editable: true, allDayDefault: true, eventStartEditable: true, eventDurationEditable: true, dayClick: function() { alert('a day has been clicked!'); }, eventDrop: function(event, delta, revertFunc) { if (!confirm(event.title + ' was dropped on ' + event.start.format() + '.nAre you sure?')) { revertFunc(); } }, eventResize: function(event, delta, revertFunc) { if (!confirm(event.title + ' end is now ' + ( event.end.format() ) + '.nnIs this okay?')) { revertFunc(); } else { fmpurl = '" & _fmpURLString & _fmScript1 & "&$eventid=' + event.id + '&$newEndDate=' + event.end ; httpXHR = new XMLHttpRequest(); httpXHR.open("GET", fmpurl, true); } }, events: [ { id: 1, title: "Project 1", start: "7/1/2015", end: "7/3/2015" }, { id: 2, title: "Project 2", start: "7/3/2015", end: "7/7/2015" }, { id: 3, title: "Project 3", start: "7/7/2015", end: "7/7/2015" }, { id: 4, title: "Project 4", start: "7/7/2015", end: "7/11/2015" }, { id: 5, title: "Project 5", start: "7/14/2015", end: "7/16/2015" }, { id: 6, title: "Project 6", start: "6/18/2015", end: "7/3/2015" }, { id: 7, title: "Project 7", start: "7/30/2015", end: "8/15/2015" }, { id: 15, title: "Project 15", start: "6/08/2015", end: "6/19/2015" } ] }); }); </script> <style> body { margin: 0; padding: 0; font-family: "Lucida Grande",Helvetica,Arial,Verdana,sans-serif; font-size: 14px; } #calendar { width: 900px; margin: 40px auto; } </style></head> <body> <div id='calendar'></div> </body> </html> " ) ----------------------------- In the middle of that you will see these three lines, where I am trying to make that call back to the local file from the webviewer: fmpurl = '" & _fmpURLString & _fmScript1 & "&$eventid=' + event.id + '&$newEndDate=' + event.end ; httpXHR = new XMLHttpRequest(); httpXHR.open("GET", fmpurl, true); Any one have experience achieving this? Todd Geist's Watermark module uses this technique but I can't seem to extract that functionality for my own purposes here. Thanks, -- Justin
  14. I have a web viewer set up in my FM that displays FedEx tracking. Â Previously, using FM11, I was able to adjust the scroll bars to display the parts of the FedEx tracking I wanted to show on a printout. (Scroll to the right and down, to eliminate some of the FedEx header and sidebar.) Â This would allow my printout to show the ship date and the delivery date and tracking progress through the web viewer, as well as the order information fields I have above the web viewer. Â Since upgrading to FM12, the scrolling does not work when I print or go into the Preview mode. Â Now, when I scroll the web viewer and print (or Preview), it pushes the viewer content back to it's original position and wipes out all the info that was hidden after I scrolled the window. Â I've looked everywhere and can't find any sort of solution for this. Â I've attached files showing how it looks before scrolling, after scrolling, and then when Previewing or printing.
  15. Hi all, I have a filemaker customer database and one layout includes a webviewer to display the map from google-maps for a customer's location. While the map is displayed perfectly in browse mode I am having the problem that when I print the record or enter preview mode, the content of the web viewer is blank. I have fiddled with all options in Inspector but I cannot find a way around this and am finding it very challenging! One time only, for no apparent reason it displayed correctly in preview but since then nothing - Is this a known bug? Any help would be very greatly appreciated as I'm getting ready to tear my hair out.... :-/ I am using FM Pro Advance 11 on Mac OSX 10.7.5 and this is the custom code I have in the webviewer: "data:text/html, <style type='text/css'> html, body { overflow:hidden; } </style> <html> <head> <title>NavText</title> </head> <body bgcolor='#FFFFFF' TopMargin='0' style='border:0'> <iframe width='" & GetLayoutObjectAttribute ( "WebViewer" ; "width" ) & "' height='" & GetLayoutObjectAttribute ( "WebViewer" ; "height" ) & "' frameborder='0' scrolling='no' marginheight='0' marginwidth='0' src='http://local.google.com/maps?q=" & DATABASE::Street 1 & "," & DATABASE:City" & "," & DATABASE ::Postal Code 1 & "&amp;output=embed&iwloc=0&z=17'> </iframe> </body> </html>" regards, Jeb.
  16. Hi, Would like to use a custom google search engine, such as: https://www.google.com/cse/publicurl?cx=000620537607643025006:pi1r2a4z-2e in Filemaker. Can't get a field/search term to show up in the search engine./webviewer. Thx. David
  17. I'm trying to put a google doc into a web viewer. When the page comes up, I'm initially prompted to log into google docs. After I submit my name and pw, I'm getting a message that says "oops, your browser doesn't have cookies enabled." I'm not sure which settings I need to adjust so that cookies are enabled and the page will be served. Any advice?
  18. I have a CSS Gradient in a Web Viewer. It works great on all web browsers except IE10. It will not display if IE10 is installed. Here is the code in the web viewer: "data:text/html," & "<style>body { border: 0; margin: 1; background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top, #16517c 0%,#174a74 100%); background: -ms-linear-gradient(top, #16517c 0%,#174a74 100%); filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient( startColorstr='#16517c', endColorstr='#174a74',GradientType=0 ); } </style>" If I use the same code in an html page it displays in IE10. I just will not display in the web viewer. Here is the code for an html page: <html> <head> <style>body { border: 0; margin: 1; background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top, #16517c 0%,#174a74 100%); background: -ms-linear-gradient(top, #16517c 0%,#174a74 100%); background: linear-gradient(to bottom, #16517c 0%,#174a74 100%); filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient( startColorstr='#16517c', endColorstr='#174a74',GradientType=0 ); }</style> </head> <body> </body> </html> I would really appreciate any help.
  19. Hi, I'm new to javascript, but I've made some great progress using SQL (via 2empowerFM) and JQuery to build some tables that have exactly the data, and look and feel that I'm looking for. But I cannot figure out how to navigate back from a web viewer. Is it possible to navigate back to a Filemaker TO layout for a given record being reported in the jquery table? I realize this is straight forward in a FM portal table, but it's limited compared to what can be achieved with SQL/JQuery. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Anthony
  20. On iPad, there is an unappealing gray overlay that appears about 1-2 seconds after content load in the web viewer. Tapping on the viewer makes this go away. Has anyone experienced this, and is there a way to avoid it? I have content I don't want users to interact with in some cases, and in any case, I don't see the benefit of this overlay. Screenshot attached. Many thanks! Michael Ashley update: The latest FM Go iPad update did not address this.
  21. I am using a Web Viewer in FMP 12 to do some Google Map routing displays. On my iMac it shows the route graphically, which is what I want. On my iPad it defaults to the mobile display showing text descriptions of turns, etc. by default. I am trying to 'coerce' the Web Viewer to show me the 'standard' non-mobile display in the iPad, while keeping the mobile option for another layout that I'll use on the iPhone. As an example, a current calculated URL for Google Maps reads as follows, and I haven't been able to find anything telling me how to coerce it to not use mobile on an iPad: https://www.google.com/local?hl=en&f=d&saddr=6536 Raven Road, Nanaimo, BC+V9V 1R1+Canada&daddr=805 - 1450 West 12th Avenue+Vancouver++V6H 1M9+Canada Thanks, David
  22. Hi brainiacs, Â Description of the problem is below, but the resulting question is this: Â How do I have a script in one file tell a particular window of another file to "go to record number 50" ? Â Specifics: I have a web viewer with a jquery slider (see attached image). I'm using to replicate Filemaker's record scroller. Â This will only work on a hosted file, not a file running on a local workstation. Â It works by... Â Assume the slider has a minimum value of 1 and a maximum value of 100... Â 1) User moves slider to 50% mark 2) jquery records the slider number (50) 3) jquery calls a script in the file (fmp://207.xxx.xxx.x/hosted_data_file.fmp12?script=scroll_records&param=50 Â Â Â Â Â Â - so you can see this is why the file needs to be hosted 4) "scroll_records" script moves to record number 50 Â Works nicely and means I can hide and lock the Filemaker toolbar permanently as I have all the controls a user needs in my own UI. Â BUT... try doing this using the separation model. That is... data on server, UI file on local workstation... Â Â 1) UI File: User moves slider to 50% mark 2)Â UI File:Â jquery records the slider number (50) 3)Â UI File:Â jquery calls a script in the hosted data file (fmp://207.xxx.xxx.x/hosted_data_file.fmp12?script=scroll_records&param=50 4) "scroll_records" script CAN NOT move the UI file to record number 50 because the script is in the hosted data file. A script in one file can't tell another file to scroll records. Â That sucks... Â I've tried all sorts of workarounds, but I think what has to happen is something like this... Â Have the "scroll_records" script store the record number in a field in the data file, and then somehow get the UI file to recognise that the field has been modified and then the UI file can perform a script to scroll the records. Â But how do I get the UI file to know when the field in the data file has been modified?
  23. (spoiler alert…they should) Recently, you may have heard a lot of discussion about “HTML5″. I believe HTML5 is a game changer. It can revolutionize the way we design our FileMaker databases. I have spent many years in the FileMaker market. I believe this combination of technologies is going to lead to some of the most dynamic FileMaker Layouts that possibly we’ve ever seen. This is the inception of some very exciting and compelling things are moving forward in the FileMaker world. HTML5 has been deeply etched into the fabric of the industry as “the technology that makes rich web applications”. For my money, I am fine with it. As long as we all understand that what we hear referred to as HTML5, is really a combination of modern HTML, CSS and JavaScript combined together to make impressive applications that can be displayed in a browser. So what does this mean to us FileMaker folks? It means a great deal actually. It combines FileMaker Web Viewer Layout Object, data URLs, FMP URLs, a little bit of JavaScript, some CSS and some HTML5, put all that stuff together and you get some really compelling and imaginative things that you can do right inside the layouts in your FileMaker databases.   Granted, the HTML5 technology combination is intended for those who create pages that can be read by web browsers, in the FileMaker development environment we have the ability to GENERATE HTML5 from within our calculation engine. Then, we also have the ability to display the generated HTML5 within our layouts and even make them a fully integrated application that can allow us to do nearly endless things within our FileMaker layouts. The key to understanding how this works is the WEB VIEWER. I like to refer to the Web Viewer as: “A Calculation that results in a Web Page” After all, the Web Viewer requires an input of a calculation string that outputs either a properly formatted URL or a page of text that can be read by a browser. So, like other calculations that output Text, Numbers, Dates or even Containers, Web Viewers allow us to output a web experience that our users can interact with while in the context of our FileMaker layouts. AND, with a “localization” technique, you can generate output that DOES NOT REQUIRE web connection and CAN BE VIEWED On iPAds and iPhones! This means that even if FileMaker native layout tools and functionality do not allow you to create the user experiences that your solutions require, then embedding a web viewer and using other technologies (like HTML5) within them solves that problem. It also means adding “wow”   factor and interfaces that your users LOVE while never leaving the FileMaker layout experience. This is not just for spinning logos and wacky graphics, but for seamlessly integrating features into your FileMaker solutions that will meet requirements you previously felt were impossible. I know what you are thinking. “This sounds great, but I do not know anything about HTML5 or JavaScript“. Not a problem. Embedding HTML5 technologies into your web viewers requires nearly NO WEB EXPERIENCE and instead leverages your existing scripting and calculation skill sets along with some copying and pasting from free web resources. If you are interested in learning more about integrating “HTML5″ and FileMaker, Please make sure to attend my session at this year’s FILEMAKER DEVELOPER CONFERENCE where I present “Intro to FileMaker and HTML5″. In the meantime, for a primer, check out the links below as well as this excerpt from my recent lynda.com video where I introduce HTML5 in the web viewer.   CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO EXCERPT   I will continue to post updates on this topic to http://www.FileMakerHTML5.com . 24. I'm using the web viewer to scrape data from a website on a daily basis. The script loops through my records and loads the web page. I use a loop script like the below to make sure the page has loaded before scraping data. Loop Pause/Resume Script [ Duration (seconds): 1 ] Set Variable [ $html; Value:GetLayoutObjectAttribute("source";"content") ] Exit Loop If [ PatternCount($html; "<head>") ] End Loop The problem is that occasionally the web viewer returns a "the request timed out" error in the status bar and this causes the script to just loop infinitely and not complete. If I come across this error and manually load the page again it continues with issues. Is there any way I can pull this error into the script somehow to avoid having to manually check it?
  25. In my FM 12 ADv app I have a button that opens a window that has the Web Viewer in it. In WV there is a simple https: URL. I do my development on my Mac. When I run the script that opens the Window and URL on the Mac everything is fast and as it should be. When I copy the same app to my Windows 7 PC it takes f o r e v e r ......................45+ seconds .................... to load. I turn on the progress bar and can see it slooooooooooooowly creep across the bottom. In both apps I am using FireFox... If I change the URL to http://www.filemaker.com it runs as expected. Is it the httpS that is the problem? If so, how do I work around this 'feature'?
