  1. I need some help in determining if I am missing something crucial here or if there is a limitation or bug in the function BE_ApplyXSLT from the BaseElements plugin. I am using version 3.3.4 (which is the latest) on Mac OS X 10.11.6 using FileMaker 15 Adv. and 16 Adv. I am unable to get any output from the transformation, nor any error. According to the documentation, the command shall return either 0 when successful or an error. Link In my testing it only returns blank, and gives no error even when no output file is generated. It should not return blank in cany case according to the docs. (I suspect there may be a documentation error and that it actually returns blank when there is no error.) No error is found using Get(LastError). BE_GetLastError returns 0. The function format is this: BE_ApplyXSLT ( xmlPath ; xslt ; outputPath ) Here are the input parameters I have used: BE_ApplyXSLT ( "/var/folders/y6/1yf76qcs5y91h_w4j27hxp980000gp/T/S10.2/ABC_nota_108.xml" ; BE_ReadTextFromFile ( "/var/folders/y6/1yf76qcs5y91h_w4j27hxp980000gp/T/S10.2/HTMLvisning/Stylesheet_Full.xsl" ); "/var/folders/y6/1yf76qcs5y91h_w4j27hxp980000gp/T/S10.2/output.html" ) I have verified that the files exist and that both the XML and XSLT are valid. All files are in UTF-8. I can transform the XML with this XSLT using other methods without errors. I have also tried having the XSLT in a variable. As I understand it, BaseElements uses the libxml2 engine. I have tried doing the transform from the command line directly and it works as it should: xsltproc -o /var/folders/y6/1yf76qcs5y91h_w4j27hxp980000gp/T/S10.2/output.html /var/folders/y6/1yf76qcs5y91h_w4j27hxp980000gp/T/S10.2/HTMLvisning/Stylesheet_Full.xsl /var/folders/y6/1yf76qcs5y91h_w4j27hxp980000gp/T/S10.2/ABC_nota_108.xml It also works fine using the XMLLib OSAX in AppleScript. Unfortunately, I need Windows support also so I would like to get the BaseElements function to work. I hope somone can shed some light on what may be going on.
  2. Trying to set up mirror sync for the first time using FM15 Pro (Not advanced). I have got past the set up of where the database is, the issue is when I try and set up the , as I don't have Advanced I have to import the MirrorSync.xml file directly, when I click continue I get an error that says, 'XML/XSL information is not enough to proceed with import/export', no matter where I put this file it fails. Any body had this? and what did you do to get round it?, be great if I could get rid of this sooner rather than later.
  3. I am having some trouble getting my XSLT file to work. I have followed many of the posts on here and have referenced https://www.w3schools.com/xml/xsl_intro.asp https://www.w3schools.com/xml/tryxslt.asp?xmlfile=cdcatalog&xsltfile=cdcatalog I seem to be able to get the examples to work and have had success with the example files for metars.cache.xml weather meter readings, but can't see why my own isn't working properly when it looks the same to me. Any guidance would be gratefully received. I am not new to Filemaker but this is my first attempt at importing and exporting data to/from our solution in XML which meets the UK Government standards. My XSLT seems only to match fields but not actually import and records. I have attempted referencing the template match to root with <xsl:template match="/Message"> but this causes an "Invalid Document Structure" error in Filemaker, which doesn't seem to be a problem with the w3schools try xslt page. I have reverted back to the format in the meters.xslt example file and now hope that somebody can help!! metars.cache.xml meters.xslt ILR-99999999-1617-20160229-144401-01.xml ILRLearningDeliveryImport.xslt
  4. Hi I'm trying to develop an interface between my filemaker database and a SOAP service. No where in the wsdl is there any authorisation so I believe I need to send my username and password before the SOAP envelope. I'm trying to do that with Scriptmaster but there are only three input parameters none of which appear useful for generating or inputting the HTTP authorisation Basic that needs to be in place. I can't see the fedex modules which may have had the parameters I needed. Can anybody help/advise or suggest another plugin I should use. Many thanks for reading this.
  5. Hi everyone. Could someone help me? I am so close to having this working and we've spent the last two days trying everything, and we're stumped. We built this xslt template and it's associated xml file... and filemaker opens up like it's all good, allows me to map the fields, all good, then we hit import and it only does one file and there is no data in any of the fields. These two files are the short sanitized version of the data, the original xml has 600 records... but this is exactly the structure, and I'm wondering if anyone can tell us what we are missing.? Again, no data arrives in the record, and it only does one record even thou we have 600. (I know this one will only be a single record). Any guidance from the group would be so appreciated. Thanks. 8. I have been given the task of trying to import our postal information which we receive as XML files into Filemaker. I've been searching the forums for the last few days and I've found several examples which I've tried to build off, but I'm still not doing something right. We have no experience working with XML files so I can't quite figure out where I'm going wrong. When I try to import my XML file into Filemaker using the stylesheet I created, It looks like all the fields are mapping right, but I don't get data in any of the fields. I get the following pop up message: This is the stylesheet I have built so far, the sample XML data we were provided is attached. Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as what my problem is and what I need to fix? As an aside, I know I have the CustomerReferenceID field importing twice. Given the sample data we received we're not quite sure which fields we will actually need to import so I'm using one of those entries as a placeholder. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output method="xml" version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <FMPXMLRESULT xmlns="http://www.filemaker.com/fmpxmlresult"> <ERRORCODE>0</ERRORCODE> <PRODUCT BUILD="" NAME="" VERSION=""/> <DATABASE DATEFORMAT="" LAYOUT="" NAME="" RECORDS="" TIMEFORMAT=""/> <!-- DEFINE FIELDS --> <METADATA> <FIELD NAME="Mail Date" TYPE="TEXT" EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT=""/> <FIELD NAME="Customer Reference ID" TYPE="TEXT" EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT=""/> <FIELD NAME="Job Description" TYPE="TEXT" EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT=""/> <FIELD NAME="Permit" TYPE="TEXT" EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT=""/> <FIELD NAME="Total Postage" TYPE="NUMBER" EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT=""/> <FIELD NAME="Postage Affixed" TYPE="NUMBER" EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT=""/> <FIELD NAME="Net Postage" TYPE="NUMBER" EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT=""/> <FIELD NAME="Quantity" TYPE="NUMBER" EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT=""/> <FIELD NAME="Affixed Amount" TYPE="NUMBER" EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT=""/> <FIELD NAME="Metered-Stamped" TYPE="NUMBER" EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT=""/> </METADATA> <!-- IMPORT DATA --> <RESULTSET FOUND=""> <xsl:for-each select="PostageStatement"> <ROW MODID="" RECORDID=""> <COL><DATA><xsl:value-of select="ClosingDate"/></DATA></COL> <COL><DATA><xsl:value-of select="CustomerReferenceID"/></DATA></COL> <COL><DATA><xsl:value-of select="CustomerReferenceID"/></DATA></COL> <COL><DATA><xsl:value-of select="PermitNumber"/></DATA></COL> <COL><DATA><xsl:value-of select="TotalUSPSAdjustedPostage"/></DATA></COL> <COL><DATA><xsl:value-of select="PostageAffixed"/></DATA></COL> <COL><DATA><xsl:value-of select="NetPostageDue"/></DATA></COL> <COL><DATA><xsl:value-of select="TransactionAmount"/></DATA></COL> <COL><DATA><xsl:value-of select="RatePostageAffixed"/></DATA></COL> <COL><DATA><xsl:value-of select="PermitType"/></DATA></COL> </ROW> </xsl:for-each> </RESULTSET> </FMPXMLRESULT> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> xml.zip
  9. I have a xml export via XSLT working successfully to generate the correct XML file. I've noticed the XML file has no indenting which makes it hard to read - I was wondering if there's an easy way to include the indenting in the result xml file as part of the XSL file? Here's what the XML looks like now: <rss version="0.91"> <channel> <title>Latest News</title> <link>http://localhost/</link> <description>Recent news articles</description> <language>en-us</language> <item> <title>Slashdot</title> <link>http://slashdot.org/</link> <description>News for Nerds, stuff that matters</description> </item> </channel> </rss> I would like it to look like this: <rss version="0.91"> <channel> <title>Latest News</title> <link>http://localhost/</link> <description>Recent news articles</description> <language>en-us</language> <item> <title>Slashdot</title> <link>http://slashdot.org/</link> <description>News for Nerds, stuff that matters</description> </item> </channel> </rss> Here's what the XLS file looks like: <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:fmp="http://www.filemaker.com/fmpxmlresult" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.1" exclude-result-prefixes='fmp' > <xsl:output method="xml" doctype-public="rss" doctype-system="http://www.scripting.com/dtd/rss-0_91.dtd" version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="fmp:FMPXMLRESULT"> <rss version="0.91"> <channel> <title>Latest News</title> <link>http://localhost/</link> <description>Recent news articles</description> <language>en-us</language> <xsl:for-each select="fmp:RESULTSET/fmp:ROW"> <item> <title><xsl:value-of select="fmp:COL[1]/fmp:DATA" /></title> <link><xsl:value-of select="fmp:COL[2]/fmp:DATA" /></link> <description><xsl:value-of select="fmp:COL[3]/fmp:DATA" /></description> </item> </xsl:for-each> </channel> </rss> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet>
  10. LS, Sometimes user copy/paste data from other systems, I guess. Anyway the data in the FM field contains a 0x0 character. Using this character in a xml/xslt exports crashes the export. Anyone have an idea on how to get rid of this character ? ( either fm-script or xslt will do ! ) Thans in advance ! Joost

  12. When exporting XML as fmxmlresult.xml when does FileMaker populate the content of the layout attribute? Usually it looks like <DATABASE DATEFORMAT="D/m/yyyy" LAYOUT="" NAME="Menu.fp7" RECORDS="51" TIMEFORMAT="k:mm:ss "/> Yet sometimes it looks like this <DATABASE DATEFORMAT="D/m/yyyy" LAYOUT="menu" NAME="Menu.fp7" RECORDS="51" TIMEFORMAT="k:mm:ss "/> Then again when querying the XML RPC it always look like this <datasource database="Menu.fp7" date-format="MM/dd/yyyy" layout="menu" table="Menu" time-format="HH:mm:ss" timestamp-format="MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss" total-count="0" /> Asking the question myself, answering the question myself as well. Checking the following checkbox populates the LAYOUT-attribute of FMPXMLRESULT
  13. Hi FMForums Community, After exporting PubMed records in XML format (where the default file name is pubmed_result.xml), the first two lines within the file must be removed in order to import pubmed_result.xml into FileMaker (14 Adv, MacOS Sierra) using a custom .xsl file. Within the ArticleIdList subset there is the ArticleId, with multiple IdType. I am including the relevant XML and XSL portions. ---------------- XML <PubmedArticleSet> <PubmedArticle> <PubmedData> <ArticleIdList> <ArticleId IdType="pubmed">27167443</ArticleId> <ArticleId IdType="pii">S1806-37132016000200162</ArticleId> <ArticleId IdType="doi">10.1590/S1806-37562016000000114</ArticleId> <ArticleId IdType="pmc">PMC4853075</ArticleId> </ArticleIdList> </PubmedData> </PubmedArticle> </PubmedArticleSet> ------------------ XSL <COL> <DATA> <xsl:for-each select="PubmedData/ArticleIdList"> <ArticleId> <xsl:for-each select="*"> <xsl:value-of select="." /> <xsl:if test="position()!=last()"> <xsl:value-of select="'&#xD;'"/> </xsl:if> </xsl:for-each> </ArticleId> </xsl:for-each> </DATA> </COL> ------------------- The result I'm getting after importing is: 27167443 S1806-37132016000200162 10.1590/S1806-37562016000000114 PMC4853075 But I would like to include the ArticleId IdType attribute to make it look like this: pubmed: 27167443 pii: S1806-37132016000200162 doi: 10.1590/S1806-37562016000000114 pmc: PMC4853075 In another topic within fmforums.com there was a suggestion to use @ to capture multiple attributes within a subset. Something like: <xsl:value-of select="ArticleId/@IdType" /> What should the xsl contain in order to make pubmed: pii: doi: and pmc: visible? Many thanks in advance. Kind regards, Daniel
  14. Unfortunately, the EXCEL data storage within xml-files is very complex, and as noted by others, it is virtually impossible to handle complex (and even very simple) data without the program EXCEL itself. I just discovered a new CAVEAT relating to the scribe plugin. Reading an EXCEL document with ScribeDocReadValue(), real numbers are always returned as 'integer string' without comma, and it seems impossible to get a meaningful value out of this. '29.84' -> 2984, '2984' -> 2984 (nothing to say about '2.3' -> 22999999999999998, etc.). Although not documented, I tryed to address the field with a name ('Bill') instead of a cellcode 'C14'. Interestingly, this returned no error, if the name was defined in EXCEL, but a null (empty) value! Next try. The Excel calculation =TEXT(C14,"standard") returns the real number in a beautiful text format. However, scribe returns ERROR: Scribe returns ERROR for a any Text calculations, e.g. for 'C15' = 'Jane'; 'C16'= '=C15', ScribeDocReadValue ('C16') = ERROR. Probably scribe just can NOT access the 'SharedStringTable', nor any other secondary source tables (– this has other bad effects. If you write any values to an Excel 'fill down' range with Scribe (that is, through the backdoor), Excel will never recognize and evaluate these values correctly, etc. etc.) What about the real numbers, then? I only found one solution: Defining an additional cell with a calculation like 'C16'= ROUND(('C14'+1000)*10000000000000,0), or (more generic) defining TWO additional fields calculating the INT and MOD part of the number. What an abonimably atrocious workaround! However, I really wonder WHERE the 'comma' position is stored in xlm-EXCEL, and, eventually, if you guys at 360works may plan to retrieve this information in a next version. That would be great! Thanks Markus @Excel for Mac 2011, v14.3.6, OS X 10.8.4, Java 7 25 (Build 1.7.0_25-b15), FM 12.0v4 Adv, 360Works Scribe v1.262

  16. Apparently, I deleted my original post. Beverly said I should, "update with any auto-entered FM primary key into the child foreign key via the temporary relationship" I am thinking this is correct but have never done this before. Can someone help me understand how to do this? Here is a simplified version of my xml: <!-- some of the data from the attribute tags goes in the Claim table --> <result check_number="01574380" eraid="2182629" paid_amount="34.00" paid_date="2016-02-05" payer_name="" payerid="" prov_name="" prov_npi=""> <!-- some the data from the attribute tags goes in the Claim table --> <claim from_dos="20160201" pat_name_f="BARNEY" pat_name_l="RUBBLE" pat_num="38170" prov_npi="" total_charge="200" total_paid="20"> <!-- some the data from the attribute tags goes in the Line Items table --> <charge charge="200" chgid="71245" from_dos="20160201" paid="20" proc_code="92004" thru_dos="" units="1"> <adjustment amount="160" code="45" group="CO" /> <adjustment amount="20" code="3" group="PR" /> </charge> <claim " from_dos="20160201" pat_name_f="BAM BAM" pat_name_l="RUBBLE" pat_num="38171" total_charge="720" total_paid="11"> <charge charge="150" chgid="71248" from_dos="20160201" paid="11" proc_code="76514" thru_dos="" units="1"> <adjustment amount="139" code="45" group="CO" /> </charge> </claim> </result> Here are the tables I am working with Patient table patient_number - ties to transaction and claims tables Claims table patient_number invoice_number - ties to transaction table Trans patient_number invoice_number - ties to claims table and line items table Line items table invoice number - ties to transaction table I will only be updating existing records not creating new ones. Oh, I can use the patient_number as a match key in the claims table but don't know how to import into the line items table using the method Beverly described. Sorry if this doesn't make sense. I am still learning about Filemaker and relational databases.
  17. Hi everyone, I am new here. I just began working with a project that has been using FileMaker Server 9 and Pro 9. The current architecture uses one machine deployment but the machine is quite ancient and doesn't support any micro-frameworks that eases my web development duties. I wanted to split this architecture to a multi machine deployment this ancient machine having only the Database, another better machine having a webserver and/or a web publishing engine. The reasoning behind this being that I can use a webserver(Gunicorn + Flask) and use PyFileMaker to obtain my data from the DB using XML. I, however, realize that the web publishing engine is required at the database to publish my XML data which in turn requires a web server running(apache). This goes back to the same one machine deployment. Am I missing a point here? Thank you so much for taking your time to read this. It would be truly awesome if you could help me with this question. Thank you once again and have a good day. Regards, Arjun

  19. I have a client that would like to use MS Access to connect to a table in a solution hosted on FMS 14.0.3. What I'm reading suggests that was possible with .fmp5 and .fmp7 but is no longer available in .fm12. I've tried to use Access and both (mac) Excel and (windows) Excel to connect via ODBC to the FMS hosted table and I can construct the query and see the fields, but when I submit the request I get an error. Is it still possible to connect Excel or Access to FileMaker 14.0.3 (hosted)? The error I get appears on the attached screenshot. Is anyone currently doing this? Thank you in advance.
  20. Hi i made a export from my calculated xml data. Using a simple stylesheet to export my calculated field and clean up the FMP xml code. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:fmp="http://www.filemaker.com/fmpxmlresult" exclude-result-prefixes="fmp"> <xsl:output method="xml" version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:value-of select="." disable-output-escaping="yes" /> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> I only need 1 field to be exported. That contains all my xml data. When it is done, in the xml the xml start with a 0. Therefore the xml is not working. It is my first xml export project. What do i do wrong ?
  21. A client of mine wants to tie their solution to Converge (https://www.myvirtualmerchant.com/VirtualMerchant/). They offer an XML option, so it look feasible, but I was wondering if anyone else has tied a Filemaker solution to Converge's API? Also, with the new EMV Chip Cards, does anyone recommend any particular payment gateway for Filemaker? Or do the new chip cards not affect anything? Any and all info about payment API's most welcome. FM Pro and Server 14, Mac OS X environment. Thanks!
  22. I've spent the last couple of days learning XML, XPath, XSLT trying to make this work. I feel like I am really close but something simple is off. My XSLT is not quiet right and I need some expert input. For testing I set it up to only pull in the first field. Once I have that right the rest should be easy. Below I have added the XML, XSL, and Transformed XML. You can see in the transformer portion that there is something off with my data. When trying to import into FM it just creates a blank record. I am trying to import the "Y" from the "BTK-security-complete" field. 23. I need some help importing a RSS 2.0 XML into FileMaker Pro Adv 10. I'm trying to modify a xslt file that came with FM. When I use this xslt it tries to map the parent Recipients and not the child Recipient. I'm stuck and could use a hand. Any thoughts on what to modify or add would be much appreciated? 24. Hello, all. As most developers know, FileMaker stores a lot of its code pieces in XML snippets. I wanted to see and store these XML snippets so I have created a simple FileMaker app for doing so. Check out my latest blog post at http://iamandrewdavis.com/index.php/2015/09/01/filemaker-code-storage/ to see what I have done. In my sample app, you can scrape FileMaker's internal XML from the clipboard and store it in a table. It's a great way to store scripts, tables or layout objects. If you have any problems, let me know in the comments.
  25. LS, We currently have this worker machine running, but I want to get rid of it. The worker runs a FM-script every 5 mins and exports some data, which is then uploaded to an ftp server and then processed by the website. The script does several xml-exports. It starts by searching for certain products , then it exports the data to and xml file ( xml-result ). After that is does a go-to-related script-step ( matching all records ) to commercial descriptions of the products and then exports this data as an xml file. We go back to the found set of products and then repeat the proces for more related product data. As said, all data is exported and the uploaded to an ftp-server. Preferably I would like to keep the xml-result structure of the data as the website is already familiar with this structure. How do I go about doing this migration. I was able to perform an xml-query and get my result. The thing is : how do I proceed with these goto-related records finding ? Or should I just go with PHP ? Much thanks in advance !
