  2. Once again I feel like a dummy. Yes, you're right. I do need to figure out when I want the trigger to run and #2 (Only the first time the layout loads) seems right. When I follow your instructions, I wouldn't even begin to know where to add the info into the script OnFirstWindowOpen and setting a global variable. I tried all night to figure this out and made a mess of things, although your explanation seems rather easy. If you have the time, is there a simpler way to explain this? If you don't Josh, I totally understand. Thank you.

  4. The formatting is already handled by the Highlight script you have. Actually, the process you want is already in place. The "OnRecordSave - Highlight Created Portal Row" script does what you want. Currently, the script trigger is on the entry field with an OnRecordSave trigger. You can use that same script to select and set the record as the active record on the layout. Nothing will be created, because there is nothing saved in that creation portal. So now you need to figure out when you want that trigger to run. OnLayoutLoad Only the first time the layout loads. Something else. For #1, that get get tricky if you have any scripts that leave the layout and come back. So I wouldn't advise that one. For #2: use the OnFirstWindowOpen trigger to set a global variable. In your script to go to the TV Pitch layout, test for that variable. If it exists, run that OnRecordSave script. It will do what you want. Then clear that variable. The next time your script to go to the TV Pitch layout, that variable won't be there, and it won't select the newest record every time.

  7. Custom Value List Help

Hello all, I have created this sample solution to demonstrate a technique that I'm trying to implement using custom value lists. I was able to fix my first issue, but the way it was fixed is bothering me a little. Because it seems like too much overhead to have a non-global/non-calculation field serving the same purpose as one. This version actually uses two extra fields whereas the first was using one field. Maybe I am over reacting and this will not cause any issues and is a fine alternative, but I wanted to reach out and see if anyone else had any thoughts, ideas or suggestions on this before I move forward? My original problem shown with version 1: The CVL seems to work okay. With one exception, namely, if there are no dates set for a specific model group, then NONE of the those items are listed for selection. It shows "<no values deinfed>". I'm sure it has to do with the way I have the relationship setup, but I have no ideas as to how to fix this. This is a minor issue because it is not very often that a new model group will be created, and I can have instructions to set the first date manually. A few details about the solution design: Basically, there are multiple (or in this solution, four) "stages" (designated by the tab sections) where common data is updated together. Most of the time, it involves multiple records at once. Which is where this custom value list comes in and only shows values where the date for each stage has not yet been set (or completed). I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks, GG CVL-log.fmp12

OK the site is now functioning on PHP7.2 was crazy to get it to work but were here - FULL SPEED AHEAD
  18. Hi Josh, Been trying to figure this one out by researching but I may not be googling the right questions. For reference, lets take latest example file in this thread, which is the most recent. When I open the file, it automatically opens up with the Song Info layout. This is good. I then go to the TV & Film Pitch layout, click the bottom entry "Big Show 2", Quit FileMaker and open the file up again... From Song Info, go to TV & File Pitch... how can I make the top and latest entry, in this case, "Foggy Nights' be active and highlighted in red? I'd like the latest entry to always be the one I see showing on this page, when going to this layout. I know it's a Script Trigger and possibly a Conditional Formatting but this is where I'm at a loss. Thanks!
  19. Performance!

Impressive. It is faster. BTW, am I so used to just going to the Unread and the All activity, to have missed this listing? https://fmforums.com/?forumId=281 or is it new too,
  20. 360Deploy Solution Bundle and user accounts

Thank you, Zach. I suppose that would be a feasible, although not ideal, solution. One would need to delegate passwords to users, keeping them in a separate secure local file. Users would not be able to change their own passwords in the solutions.
  21. Customize New Database Version Available

Thanks for the replies! It's not that big of a deal and I agree that having to update it each time the scripts are copied isn't ideal. Thanks for confirming.

  23. Customize New Database Version Available

It's going to depend on the number of tables and fields - in my simple test script, it's line 1518
  24. Customize New Database Version Available

it's in the MirrorSync (database) script around line 2753
  25. Customize New Database Version Available

Not easily, unfortunately. I realized this after I had released 4, and it was too late to change it at that point (because it would break existing MirrorSync customization scripts). You can change it by finding it in the main MirrorSync script, but you'll need to redo this change each time the MirrorSync script is copied and pasted. It's in the 'syncComplete' section of the script, which is the 8th section from the end of the script.
  26. 360Deploy Solution Bundle and user accounts

Andreas, Apologies for the delay. Currently 360Deploy does not handle the transfer of user accounts. The accounts will need to be recreated in the post import script. Perhaps an extra table that stores the usernames and passwords can be created on the production file and development file and populated right before the import process. That way, the account data will be imported during the deploy process and then the accounts can be created accordingly in the post-import action script using the data from those tables. Your solution will have to adequately handle the security of this information. Also, I would recommend only populating this table with the account information right before the deployment and removing the information from the tables after the accounts are created in the post-import action script for further security. If you have any questions about this or other aspects of 360Deploy please feel free to give us a call at 770-234-9293. Thank you, Zach
  27. Is there a way to customize the language in the dialog box that appears after a successful sync when there's a new database version available? "There is a new database version available named 'x.xx'. Would you like to replace your current offline file with this version?" Thanks, Jason
  28. you could use a calc field but then the data would not be indexed as it is always evaluating related data. This would make it very slow to ever search on the contents of that field. But yes you can have that calculation be the results in a field. it may be ideal to add a word separator as the substitute will find and replace partial words... "[" & Quote ( " " & searchString & "," ) & " ; " & Quote ( " " & replaceString & "," ) & "]" "Substitute ( "& Quote ( " " & data ) & " ; "& Substitute ( listof ; "¶" ; ";¶" ) &" )" that way if the source data had catmouse, it would not change to cathorse, also there it can get odd with the very first item in the source as unless it has a space in front it may not be adequately replaced.
  29. Error in setting up Mirror Sync

Put in this URL, replacing your server's IP address for yourServer: http://yourServer/fmi/xml/FMPXMLRESULT.xml?-dbnames If you get Error 959, it means XML Web Publishing not enabled. Re-run the deployment assistant (this is not the same as a reinstall). Be sure to check the box for XML Web Publishing. Then repeat that URL query, and verify that the error code is 0 instead of 959. Once you get that working, MirrorSync should be fine.
