  1. Hi Doughmei Thanks but the system was set up long ago as repeating fields so I am stuck at the moment. We did have a filemaker expert come in to take a look to convert using portals etc but the DB did not talk to each other. I have used extend for some other scripts but not sure how I can build this in to the one you have written. Over the years there have been many iterations of thsi system updating each year but probably the whole system needs rewriting which is way beyond me!
  2. Thanks Doughemi. If the field is one of a repeating field, do you know how I can use this to cover all of the cells in that repeating field such as using "extend" Something like the below If (IsEmpty (carbonvalue); Extend(TextColor("WARNING! The field for carbonvalue is empty. Please inset appropriate value before proceeding."; RGB(255;0;0))) ; "" ) Thanks
  3. Hi all Apologies if this is way to trivial for all of you seasoned experts. I have wrote this script but it does not work. Any ideas of I can get this to function. The field for carbonvalue works fine and all I need this to do is bring up in red text the below warning if no value is added in to the field below. If (IsEmpty (carbonvalue); "WARNING! The field for carbonvalue is empty. Please inset appropriate value before proceeding." ; "" )
  4. Thanks for this At the moment it is set up as below. SED = If(GetAsNumber(%) =""; Total Amount applied per day; Extend (Total Amount applied per day) * Extend (Retention factor)*%*1000/6000) The number for "NEWPERCENTAGE" is pulled across from another database thus I cannot add this script as a calculation when it i set up to pull the value across, so do I need to create an additional field to link it. I am am amateur so any help would need to be for the IQ of a bin bag! , The other question is what is "p"?
  5. Hi Everyone. I hope someone will be able to shed some light on this one for me. I currently have a calculation set up to provide a numerical value. The equation is below. If(GetAsNumber(%) =""; Total Amount applied per day; Extend (Total Amount applied per day) * Extend (Retention factor)*%*1000/6000) I would now like to include an addition to this such that it will take into account a percentage 1-100% that will be included in an additional field so that it looks something like this. If(GetAsNumber(%) =""; Total Amount applied per day; Extend (Total Amount applied per d
  6. Thanks but how do I add this new text into what I already have. Sorry I am an basic user.
  7. Hi Everyone. Soon be Saturday!!! Any ideas on how I can amend the below script such that if the output is 0.0 then it states "text of my choice" Alternatively Some other separate sciprt that I can add that with tell a field to state "something" when the field calcuation = 0. Thanks all Let([ start = Cosmet2010::Margin of Safety Baby [zz__kf__Cosmet2009RepNum] ; integer = Int ( start ) ; decimal = start - integer ; decimal1 = Substitute ( decimal ; "." ; "") ; decimal2 = Left ( decimal1 & "0" ; 1 ) ; result = "MoS - Baby 5.9kg: " & integer &
  8. Hi all I am trying to work out how to add in a page to extend the layout of a report. Using the part setup up to create a sub summary, I find that a, I do not know what I am doing an b, when I do this, the text /fields above my new subsummary break whilst it appears in layout mode, doews not appear on the screen when I exit layout mode. I think the problem is I do not know what field to relate it to so when it ask what table and field I should use I have no idea. Any tips. screenshot attached Thanks PS I am beginner to novice! Attached again not sure if previous wor
  9. Thanks I like that one and stored that for future use. no doubt I can find a use for it
  10. Genius. That worked!!! Phew Let([ start = Cosmet2010::Margin of Safety [zz__kf__Cosmet2009RepNum] ; integer = Int ( start ) ; decimal = start - integer ; decimal1 = Substitute ( decimal ; "." ; "") ; decimal2 = Left ( decimal1 & "000" ; 3 ) ; result = "Margin of Safety Adult 60kg: " & integer & "." & decimal2 ]; result
  11. So how do I incorporate all of that below into my 'margin of safety' text. I am not a filemaker pro like you lot! Let ( [ r = Round( number ; 3 ) ; t = SerialIncrement ( "0000" ; r * 1000 ) ] ; Replace ( t ; Length ( t ) - 2 ; 0 ; "." ) )
  12. Thanks all I am still working through each idea . The issue with the first one which I should have made clear was that this has a label command. I have attached a screenshot. Basically I would like the phrase 'Margin of safety:' to prefix each number and you can see form teh screen shot that when I add in the new text for 'margin of safety', the labelling prefix disappears. I have yet to try for 'margin of safety baby' etc Thanks Filemaker.bmp
  13. Hi again First of all the calculation result is TEXT. I have tried the Round command but cannot get this to work. Would any one have any ideas on this? At the moment, I have something like 12 decimal places and need to report this on the layout as only 3 or 4 significant figures. It is turning into a bit of a pain!!! Thanks all Let ( val = Cosmet2010::Margin of Safety [zz__kf__Cosmet2009RepNum]; Case (not IsEmpty (val); zz__Tab__g & "Margin of Safety Adult 60kg: " & zz__Tab__g & val) )
  14. Thanks but how do I add the script to this. The script I wrote in was a text value so will this work or do I have to ccreate another value in manage databases. I am no expert in FM...as you can probably tell
