  1. Have you tried sorting the records in the Edit Relationship dialog in Manage Database? That should work.
  2. Did you store the files as a reference? If so, if you move/delete the files then filemaker is unable to retrieve the files.
  3. Yes, this is possible. For clarity, I'm going to assume you have an "order" table and an "account" table. You need to set up a relationship between your order table and your account table (many accounts to one order). On your order table, you will have an account name field and a account number field that are unstored calculations. The definition for the account name will be something like Account::AccountName, and for the account number will be Account::AccountNumber. Once you have that set up, on your order layout, you will have the foreign key for account names. It w
  4. Really odd, but this seems to be working now. I think it might have been that when I put bunk data in the portal row, I put text in a number field, and that was preventing the portal row deletion? I tried to replicate it, but I couldn't. Oh well, don't know what the problem was, but it works now.
  5. I have a portal and I want to give the user the option to delete a portal row. So I have an [x] button that calls a script that uses the delete portal row script step, but it does not delete the portal row. It does not give me any errors in the debugger. On the same layout, in another tab, is a different portal that uses the delete portal row script step in it's delete script, and it works fine. I've compared the two to see what's different. Both have the same settings in the edit relationship dialog, both have an object name for the portal. The only difference I can see is that the por
  6. Hi, Here is one option, although I'm not sure if it's the best. You are on FileMaker 10 right? 1. Create a container field in the table that you are basing your background-changing layout on. You want to send it to the back of the layout, fill up the whole layout, and make sure it's not enterable in browse mode or find mode. 2. In your Resource table (if you don't have one, create one) you will create a global container that will be an image of your background color. Remember because it's a global, you're going to have to set the global field in a start up script. Let me know if
  7. If anyone is interested in learning about using server side imports and exports to archive data, I wrote a little blog about it: http://www.soliantconsulting.com/blog/2009/07/archiving-data-using-fm10-server-importing-and-exporting/ Thanks, Makah Leal Soliant Consulting http://www.soliantconsulting.com/apps/filemaker/
  8. Can I ask why you don't want to use an auto enter option for the key? The hard part about not using the auto enter is making sure every key is unique. You could set the key field to: Filter( Get ( CurrentTimeStamp ); "1234567890") Assuming that your script will not be running by multiple users at the exact same time, this could work. But, it's not bullet proof. An auto enter is a much better option. You could also add the account name to the key to make 100% sure it is unique: get(accountname) & Filter( Get ( CurrentTimeStamp ); "1234567890") But it will mak
  9. You could create a script that loops through all the duplicate records. It would do a check if the namecode value is the same as the record before it. If it is, you omit it. You will end up with only the first instance of namecode in your foundset. In order for this to work, you need to sort your records by name code. Here is the sample code. It assumes you are in the correct foundset and you have sorted by the keyword you are omitting (namecode). =============================================== Go to Record/Request/Page [First] Set Variable [$i; Value:1] Loop If[nameCode =
  10. You might find this post helpful: http://www.fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/200255/ I haven't tried it myself, but I think the last comment is the answer you are looking for. Makah Leal Soliant Consulting http://www.soliantconsulting.com/apps/filemaker/
