  1. I'm investigating setting up IWP for a FMP 8.5 database on WinXP SP2, and I've been going through this document: http://www.filemaker...ant_web_pub.pdf My question is simple - does FMP have to be installed on a web server for this to work? I've tried on my own computer and the IP address it gives me by default is for my wireless router. I used port 591 and I can access the database through the browser this way, but people outside on the www cannot. The instructions tell me I need to have "a Windows- or Mac OS-based computer running FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Server Advanced, e
  2. Ok, thanks for those suggestions.
  3. Thanks for those suggestions - the second post looks like it might be helpful.. I'm basically trying to display the associated images for a record. Except that they are supposed to be displayed in a grid, say 4 x 4 so 16 images on a page, then when you click next, you see the next 16 images, etc. Each portal row is displayed separately in a different portal to allow me to have a grid. So the first portal has initial row=1, num rows=1, the second has initial row=2, num rows=1, etc So I'll see what I can do based on the second example you posted. although I would also b
  4. Hi everyone, I am trying to figure out if there is a way to change the initial row of a portal through a script. I found the following post, which seems to indicate it is not possible: http://fmforums.com/forum/topic/31297-change-initial-row-via-script/ However, that post is from 2005 so I'm hoping maybe there is a solution now! If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it, Thanks rori
  5. Thanks so much! I will give this a try.. rori
  6. Hi, I have a filtered portal which may return a very large number of records, i.e. over 1000. I'm wondering if it is possible to limit the portal to only contain the first 100 or so? Any ideas are appreciated, thanks rori
  7. Hi there, I'm trying to avoid writing multiple scripts to do the same functions for different tables...and I've run into an issue with trying to use a variable table name in my script. I'm setting the table name in a global variable in a script parameter, then in my script I run into problems with this: Set Variable [$mediaID; Value:GetFieldName($$MEDIA_table and "::MEDIA_ID")] the resulting variable $mediaID = '?' Unfortunately the table name that I need is not the current layout table or I could use Get(LayoutTableName). Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I've be
  8. Thanks to you both for your suggestions!
  9. Hi, Yes, essentially I want to create a sort of sidebar. It sounds like I will need to create an alternate solution. Thanks for your replies! r
  10. Thanks Lee, The list view helps for the top section. I have a menu though that is supposed to go on the left and remain in place - can I alter the position dynamically to keep it in place or is there a type of object which can cut through the parts of the layout to remain static? Thanks r
  11. Hi, I am trying to create a form view layout with a top and left section that remain in place when users scroll through the form. I have the top information in a header part but I guess this is irrelevant when I am in form view... Can I create background objects or groups that will be static when the rest of the form scrolls? Thanks for any suggestions! rori
