  2. Good afternooon everyone, I need to import a list of results into FileMaker. I have to track two dates in regards to the list. The date that the companies in the results first appeared in the results (for now I’ll call it Date #1), but I also need to acknowledge the last date of importing (Date #2). For example, ABC company was first imported on January 3, 2013, but the last time it was imported (ie showed up in the results) was January 7, 2013. While, XYZ company first was imported on January 4, 2013 and was last imported on the January 9, 2013. For Date #1, creation date works fine. Howe

  4. The performance metrics are metrics like net income growth, operating margin growth, etc. So, they will be in percentage form with two decimal places. The calculated field I am trying to come up with assigns a numerical value based on whatever particular range they fall into. The ranges will be cast in stone.
  5. Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate the help. The ranges represent growth in different performance metrics. The ranges will be numbers up to two decimal places (calculated from other fields). The breakdown will be less than or equal to 0, then 0 to 20, then 20 to 30, 30 to 40, 40 to 50, and then so on up to 100, where it will end in greater than or equal to 100. And you're right, there is not a consistent range per se. I chose Case just because of prior familiarity. I'm still a newbie with FileMaker. So if there is something better, I'm not exactly sure.   6. Hello everyone, I am trying to create a calculation that checks to see if the number in a field falls within a certain range and thereby assign it a value based on that. For instance, if the number is 34, then assign it a 3 (to state it simply). I've tried experimenting with the Case function, but to no avail. The problem I am having is setting it up so that it checks for being in a specific range, like 11 to 20, 21 to 30, etc. How would I setup the calculation to check for being within a specific range?   8. Greetings all, I am attempting to generate a report that has fields from two tables, Companies & Stocks. The tables are related based on CompanyName. In this database a company can have multiple stocks. When I create the report, utilizing a few fields from both tables, only the first stock that has been entered into the stocks table for each company is shown. So, if Company ABC has stock ABC1, ABC2, and ABC3, only the one which was entered first will show in the report. What I need, however, is for it to show all stocks under any company. As far as the transactions, the database has a positions, historical transactions, and balances feature/layouts that is independent in terms of relationships within the database.   10. Thanks for the response Comment and my apologies for not being clearer. It is for my company. We purchase stocks, bonds, options of other companies. Each type of security has its own uniques features in terms of data being tracked. The primary similarity between a stock, bond, and option entered in this database would be if it were issued by the same company. So basically, what I am looking for is a method to pull up the information of companies whose securities have been purchased and see all of their related securities in one spot. Thanks again.
  11. Greetings all, I am creating a database that will enable me to track a company's stocks, options, and bonds. Thus, I have four tables, which are Company, Stocks, Options, and Bonds. Each has its primary key (company name, stock symbol, bond cusip, option symbol). In each table is a respect foreign key targeted towards the other tables, so as to related them. My goal is to be able to look at a company's profile in the database and via a portal or even related fields from related tables have their securities shown.
