  1. Hi, I'm hoping this is an easy fix. Our sever went down during a power outage last week and I had to restart filemaker server and web publishing. Ever since then, Zulu calendars aren't working for me. Is there something I need to do to start them back up? Thanks!

    Page Scrolling

    Thanks for the response Doughemi. That works for the scroll but what I want to scroll isn't records but a list of fields. They won't all fit on the page so I want to scroll down the form. I guess I wasn't clear in my original msg. I want it to scroll like a portal but still be a form.

    Hi, I am wanting to create a box with info that can scroll, like what the portal tool does with scrolling except with fields from the current table instead of a related one. How would I go about this? thanks!
  4. Lee, thank you again for your response. Yes, I meant Drop Down List rather than box. I actually figured out what was going on. I had cleared the tabs for all fields but hadn't cleared the tabs for the buttons so that's why it was still jumping to a button after I had cleared the tabs. Now it works fine, other than not being able to set a tab order which in this case is a very minor inconvenience. Your help has been much appreciated!
  5. Thanks for the response Lee. I removed tabs but it still jumps to a button on the page rather than staying on field with the drop down box.
  6. Hi, This might be a silly question but I've looked high and low and can't seem to figure it out. I have a text field that gets its value from a value list via a drop down box. In Browse mode, when the user chooses a value it automatically tabs to the next field. However, I want it to stay on the field until the user chooses another. I can't figure out how to make it stop moving to the next field on its own. Thanks!

  8. Thanks for the quick response. I'm not sure I totally understand. Do you mean that I should make the Session Date and Session Time fields global? By "Create" do you mean Commit the records? Sorry for my naivety.
  9. Hi, I'm writing a script to add "sessions" to my database. Each session has "Session Date" and "Session Time" fields associated with it. I'd like to prevent the user from adding another record with the exact same date and time. I've created a third field with the date and time combined as a unique identifier. I'm wondering what the best way is to compare this date/time field to existing records during record creation to make sure it doesn't already exist in the database. I imagine this is a fairly simple and straight forward problem but I can't seem to get a grasp on it at the moment with my current FM knowledge. Thanks

    Changing the main layout for my database

    Thank yoU! That was exactly the information I needed to fix my problem! The reason it was still going to the original layout was because it was directed by both the "Switch to Layout" option as well as a script. I had changed the "Switch to Layout" but didn't look to see if there was a script set up as well. Thats why it would flash the layout I wanted for a second and then the script would run and it would go back to the original layout.
  11. Hi, I am trying to change the layout that loads when I first enter my database. This seems like it would be rather simple but I've been trying to figure it out for a while without any luck. I changed it under File-> File Options and that works for a second but then the original layout comes back immediately without any user interaction. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  12. THanks, I will see if I can implement it directly from the payment table as you're suggesting. Also, I'm curious if the advantage of doing it this way is greater efficiency in accessing the data or if there are other concerns with doing it through the portal? I'm really appreciating all the help.
  13. I should add that at this point I don't have a Filemaker Report set up, I just export the data to a spreadsheet.
  14. The result is used as part of a report. It's actually a bit more complicated than just the totals of category 4. I had simplified it but basically there are 3 or 4 conditions that need to be met in order for the Amount data to be used in the total. Here's a more detailed description: The layout has customer data (name address, etc) and then a portal to payment data for that customer (date of payment, category, method of payment, amount, running balance). At several points during the year, a user has to be able to run a report on these payments which includes totals of certain categories and methods over a given time period (for example: all payments in categories 4,5 and 6 during 2012, paid with credit card) Then that total is included in a spreadsheet.
  15. Thanks for the quick responses! Much appreciated. GoToObject worked perfectly! Bruce, I am writing a script to compile data from several of the fields in the portal. For example there is a "category" field and an "amount" field and I want to get a total of all the amounts with a category of 4. So I'm looping through the portal rows looking for category = 4 and then adding the amount to my total. Is there a better way to do this?
