    read-only permission problem

In fact there is only one file that gives a "no access" error. All the other files don't give any problem. The password settings for this file are exactly the same as the setting of the other files...
  3. Hello, In an application that uses 12 FM5pro databases, I'm trying to give someone read-only access, but I get a "no access" message in my layout-screen instead of the records I wanted to show. All the files are multi-user, and I created for all of them a new password as following : browse records = checked edit records = unchecked delete records = unchecked create records = unchecked print records = checked export records = checked override data entry warnings = checked design layouts = unchecked edit scripts = unchecked define value lists = unchecked change password = unchecked available menu commands: none This looks fine to me, but it doesn't work. Is there something I missed? bart
  4. Sorry for the late reaction, Anatoli I have 2 fields : OrderNr. type:calculation options:Indexed,LastOrderNr. + 1 Last OrderNr. type:number The script for adding a new record goes like this : Enter Browse Mode [] Show All Records Sort [Restore, No dialog] Go to Record/Request/Page [No dialog, By Number...] Go to Field ["OrderNr."] Copy [select,"OrderNr."] New Record/Request Paste [select,"Last OrderNr."] Go to Field ["Client"] bart
  5. Hello, I'm having a problem with our order database. Two people are using the db. Every time one of the 2 wants to create a new order record a counter is increased and the order number field of the new record gets an automatically assigned order number. Works fine, except that every now and then (once in a month or so) they get two times the same ordernumber. I've already explained them that when they create a new order, they have to make sure the first field is filled in, and they have to switch to the next field (to make sure the new record is really written). But it still happens. What can I do? Could it be that my FMpro server (v5.5) puts his write-commands and other to-do's in some queue somewhere and continues with the application? Or are the changes applied really really immediately directly pronto right now without delay? In case it's done whit a queue, could it be that, worst case scenario, I have to wait seconds, even minutes, before the changes are applied? The server also is a PDC, antivirus server, and does some printing from time to time. Thx, bart

    4fax plugin syntax question

The plugin is for the 4SightFax version 4, and they're giving it away for FREE because 4SF v5 has arrived. In the meantime the guys from tribord have answered that the "|"-sign is in fact the separator for the different values, so the correct usage would be : External ("4FaxStartMessage"; fromvalue | Subjectvalue | CoverPagevalue) 4fax needs all of the 3 parameters, they can't be applied separately, except for the first one. cheers bart
  7. Probably a newbie question...but I guess that's just what I am. Trying to make FMP send faxes through the 4fax plugin (http://www.tribord.fr), I'm having some syntax problems. For example the syntax for the script step 4FaxStartMessage is External ("4FaxStartMessage"; parameter) In the manual I read this command should be used like this External ("4FaxStartMessage"; From | Subject | CoverPage) The script step External("4FaxStartMessage"; fromfield ) is accepted, but what do I do when I want to use the other parameters (Subject and CoverPage) too? For all I know the "|" sign in a syntax means I have to choose from one of the given possibilities. I've tried with comma's and spaces etc. but no luck. Please help.

    Rebuild application structure

Thanks Andy and Lee, I will try them out asap (busy busy busy) bart
  10. Hello everyone, I'm new in this company and I'am asked to make some changes in a FMpro application, being about 35 databases linked together. Before starting to experiment, I would like to have a (clear) picture of how these db's are linked together, I need to know which db links to another. Is there a tool that can draw me a picture or something of the complete application infrastructure. It really would help me a lot in understanding how this application works. greetz, bart
