  1. Thanks Webko I had not seen an example of Scribe merging multiple lines into the one document. If merging from the child records, can the found set be used as table rows? Also the merges are complex where we might have data from several relationships. I will grab the demo and have a play. Thanks for the idea. Stephen
  2. Hi I have searched and read through all the information I can find on Scribe, but I cannot find out if and how it handles related data. Is it possible to create a table in word document from related portal data? Previously we have done this using EZXSLT merges to create a table and then used macros to insert these documents into a word document at a given point. I am really interested to see if this can all be done with Scribe or if it can only do a basic merge. Thanks Stephen
  3. For anyone that comes across this post, there is a solution Prefixing the fmp:// url with URL: URL:fmp://fmserver.com/Database?script=PRINT&var=1649 Hope this helps someone out. Zippy
  4. @benbear In the variable $$Event_Color_Field_Name change "EzCal_Text_Color" to "" Hope this helps
  5. Hi Jerry I would be interested in seeing that. Currently I use an http scheme whereby the link included in the email is formatted http://our_intranet.com/redirect.php?url=fmp://fmserver.com/Database?script=PRINT&var=1649 The redirect.php is simply <?php $url=$_GET['url']; $var=$_GET['var']; $link = $url .'&$var=' .$var ; ?> <html> <head> <title>Redircting</title> <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="1;URL='<?php echo $link; ?>'" /> <script> function tricky_win_close() { top.window.opener = top; top.window.open(”,’_parent’,”); top.window.close(); } </script> </head> <body> <body onBlur="self.opener=null;tricky_win_close()"> <p><a href="<?php echo $link; ?>">Redirecting to <?php echo $link; ?></a></p> </body> </html> <HTML> The issue I have with this is the user has to go from Outlook, to IE (browser) to Filemaker. Other mail clients seem to translate the protocol to URL, the iPhone even takes you to Go which is sweet. Just a nicety I guess. Thanks for any input. ZP
  6. Hi all Has anyone successfully registered the FMP protocol so that users can click hyperlinks in outlook. If you type http://somewhere.comor mailto:someone@some.com or ftp://here.com and send the email they will appear as hyperlinks in outlook when the recipeint gets them. This is not the case with FMP:// ... I would like my internal users to be able to click the links. THe only way I have found to do it is to actually create the links as hyperlinks. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ZP
  7. Thanks David. That looks good. With regards to merging. If for example, I have a related table of fees for a product, I will append them as one field and export that for the merge. If I export the related fields, I can insert the single merge field.
  8. It is mostly for merging to Word or displaying in a webviewer with other data from the systems.
  9. The one good use for this function, which we used today was to list the foundset .. I don't think I can do that with the List function. I have started to use the ExecuteSQL function for the related records now. A little off topic but can you ORDER BY a value list in ExecuteSQL. Thanks for responding. ZP
  10. Hi all I think I have this custom function in every database I use. Case ( Start < Number ; GetNthRecord ( field ; Start ) & ¶ & AppendNth ( field; Start + 1 ; Number ); Start = Number ; GetNthRecord ( field ; Start ) ) It is just standard practice for me to use it. I mostly use it to concatenate data from Portals into a single field for display. As it only concatenates one field, I usually create a calc of all the fields I want to display and then use AppendNth ( relate::field ; 1 ; Count ( relate::recid ) ) Is there a better way? It just occurred to me this afternoon, that I just automatically use the FM7 custom function. Is there an inbuilt function that I have overlooked? I am sure I could achieve this with ExecuteSQL too. Thanks in advance. ZP
  11. Thanks Wim. I was trying to use the function. I had the ESS added but it was not behaving. Perhaps it was just too big a dataset, around 9million records. I thought it would be faster. I have just gone back to what I know and used relationships to the ESS tables. Thanks again Stephen
  12. Hi I have been trying unsuccessfully to use the ExecuteSQL to select from a Microsoft SQL table added via ODBC. Should I be able to do this? or am I barking up the wrong tree!! Thanks in advance Stephen
  13. Thanks mate. I will keep going in when I get back to work on monday. Will report back when (if) I get it working. Thanks again for responding so quickly
  14. Hi all I have been looking at this all day and can't seem to find a solution. We have two Filemaker server, one on Windows and one on Mac OS X Server 10.4.11. I have got the external authentication working perfectly on the databases hosted on the windows server but cannot find how to use the AD server for the Mac OS X server. Not sure if this is the correct procedure, but I have tried to Bind the OS X server to AD using the Directory Access utility, but I keep getting an error "unable to access domain controller. this computer is unable to access the domain controller for an unknown reason" In windows all I had to do was set the service to authenticate to AD. How do I achieve the same thing on Mac OS X Server or FMSA 10 on mac os x. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance ZP
