  1. Thank you Don. The file worked. "in a calculation will result in - GreenRed (Try it)" Maybe on a Mac, because on a pc the calculation displays exactly as you enter it "I chose to use QUOTES and not an apostrophe" My concern was the fact that you did not chose an unique way, in fact some part is escaped/quoted and some part is apostrophed. But ofcourse you can do what you wish, I was only asking why.
  2. Hello Don, could you please explain why you have so many ¶ inserted in the calculation of the web viewer? I do not think there is any need. Even the escape of the quotes can be disposed of as you did in other parts of the calculation ( using the apostrophe char ) Or is there a real reason that I can't see ?
  3. Instead of using the "Go to Field" script step, give a name to the field that you want to go and use the "Go to Object" script step.
  4. You could evaluate the sort state of the record with Get ( SortState ).

  7. You could try this calculation as the option of auto-entering a calc for that field: Let([ n = GetAsNumber ( Self ) ; t = RightWords ( Self ; 1 ) ] ; n * Case( t = n ; 1 ; t = "KB" ; 10^3 ; t = "MB" ; 10^6 ; t = "GB" ; 10^9 ) )
  8. No, it is for the field's auto-enter option. Edit: Remember to uncheck the box: "Do not replace existing value of field (if any)"
  9. Tip To create a separator line between items in a pop-up menu or drop-down list, or produce spaces between radio buttons or checkboxes, type a hyphen on a separate line where you want each separator line or space to appear.

  11. That could be made by: 1) giving a name to the Web Viewer ( I give it "wv" ) 2) putting this code into the calculation for the WV: "data:text/html, <html> <style> body {border:0px;margin-top:0px;margin-left:0px;} </style> <body> <img src=' " & YourTable::TheURLField & " ' width=' " & GetLayoutObjectAttribute ( "Wv" ; "width") - 17 & " '/> </body> </html>" Note that: 1) the number 17 in the calc works for my windows system and must be suited so that the horizontal bar hides. 2) on my pc I do not need to uncheck the box: "Automatically encode URL"
  12. "but forgot to handle it from validation context" FileMaker forgot many things: also the count of the value list items is wrong ! Maybe we never realized it because the separation between the values is so seldom used?
  13. Try this calculation: Let([ text = Prova::Mail ; count = PatternCount ( text ; "Printed:" ) ; string = Middle ( text ; Position ( text ; "Printed:" ; 1 ; count ) + 9 ; 16 ) ; d = Left ( string ; 2 ) ; m = Middle ( string ; 4 ; 2 ) ; y = Middle ( string ; 7 ; 4 ) ; t = Substitute ( Middle ( string ; 12 ; 5 ) ; "." ; ":" ) ]; Timestamp ( Date ( m ; d ; y ) ; t ) ) Then you can trash the calculated field "Prova::PcntPrinted"
  14. The solution is to use 1 script not based on the buttons ObjectName, but on the Script Parameter that you'll pass to the script.
  15. "Especially if you just use the panel navigator dots." The conditional formatting of the buttons could be seen only if the window is refreshed. Using the navigator dots doesn't refresh the window, so it's better to hide them.
  16. "12:00:00 AM" and "03:00:00 AM" aren't times, but strings. Use Time ( 12 ; 0 ; 0 ) and Time ( 3 ; 0 ; 0 ) instead.
  17. "where I create a calculation field " Isn't that a repeating number field with option to auto-enter a calculation, instead?
  18. That was the answer to your perplexity. The answer to how add multiple fields to a layout is the Kris's one: use the field picher ( the tool near the show/hide inspector )
  19. Hi go to: Edit > Preferences > Layout tab to check the relative box.
  20. Hints: 1) The alignment of a text depends of the first character's alignment 2) even if it is a space 3) then you could use the Trim( ) function
  21. Peter, remember that a global field can be seen from every table, even unrelated.
  22. You'll need to set the padding ( top, right, bottom and left ) to 0. This is very simple with Filemaker 14 and then will work even on 13.
