  1. Hi, I am hiding an object (image) conditionally in FMP 12 adv. (making the fill color transparant). As far as I know in FMP 12 the only way to do this is to make the object a button. Than I have to assign a script step to the button otherwise it will not accept conditional formatting (stays grayed out). I do not want the button (object) to do anything. What is the lightest script step to perform ?? (exit script (no script running), goto object [ ] ) When I assign the 'Do Nothing' script step from scratch to the button the conditional formatting option stays grayed out. But when I alter it afterwards from f.i. 'Goto Object' to 'Do Nothing' conditional formatting is still possible with the 'Do Nothing' script step. I tested the button (object) with the script debugger and with the 'Do Nothing' no script step is triggered. That's OK but will it keep working this way, or do I have to assign a 'real' script step to it ? Henk Rotterdam Netherlands
  2. Hi, I am having a Javascript countdown game-clock (period's - minutes - seconds ) running in a webviewer. I need to retrieve (on button click) the period - minutes - seconds from the clock into Filemaker As far as I know there are 3 ways to get the data out: - use the 'Insert from URL' script step and filter the needed data out ( at a Filemaker button click ) - use the FMP URL protocol ( Javascript triggers a Filemaker script ) to 'Set' a field in Filemaker ( maybe each second ) - Javascript writes the period - min's - seconds as parameters in the URL each second ( a Filemaker script only fetches the data from the URL when needed - at a button click - ) I am not sure but option 3 seems to have the best performance. Your opinion please Thanks Henk
  3. jbante, Conditional formatting is greyed out with a selected portal. I'm using it for a horizontal portal set-up with only one row initiated for each portal. It's like a kind of single area unit where related fields can be displayed. (each single portal starts at a different initial row) The only thing that annoys me is when clicking in the portal the portal (area) darkens (like selecting a portal row). The way to avoid this is covering up spaces around the fields used in/on the portal with invisible buttons (exit script function). But I have a lot of these single row horizontal portal areas on the layout so it would be a kind of a mess to cover up all those spaces. It would be a cleaner/better option for me to change the CSS highlight color for the portal. Thank you for answering. Henk
  4. Hi, I am trying to find the CSS code to disable portal row highlighting. (Filemaker 12 adv) (or change the highlight color) I copied an empty portal (no fields) to the clipboard. Loaded the clipboard into Textmate. Than I can read the fmxmlsnippet of the Filemaker Portal I can change borders, background color etc. (load it back into the clipboard and paste it into Filemaker -works-) But I cannot find the way to disable the highlighting of the portal. There is a line that references to the highlight color but that seems to do nothing when I change it. Any ideas Thanks Henk Rotterdam Holland

  6. I do not want to be rude but after 6 posts this conversation is only about how to behave on this forum. First I am cryptic, then I am shy. According to your answers it seems I do not want help unless I post the complete script or file . And still there's not even the slightest attempt to answer the basic question. I don't say it out loud ... but I get the feeling the forum is drowning in its own 'rules'. I am probably the only one thinking about it like this. It has been a long time I visited this forum and I cannot remember it was so hard getting an answer on a simple question even when it was 'cryptic' as you are saying. Maybe I did wrong by not visiting this forum more frequently or I miss the point by everyone learning from each-other. We'll see. But again thanks for taking the time answering my posts Henk Wijtman Rotterdam Holland
  7. Script is in progress (mess), still lots of maybe's/tries in it. Filling fields in the new record is the rest of the script. I thought saving you the trouble looking through these lines. Key question remains the same. I know the web viewer also refreshes itself by going to another record in the same table. Probably has to do how Filemaker renders its layout every time. Just wondered if the refreshing/reloading of the web viewer could be suppressed by some kind of trick in Filemaker or in HTML/Javascript. A workaround could be by creating records up-front and filling them by incrementing the serial relationship. Afterwards I can clean up the redundant/empty records. But that doesn't resolve my curiosity .... (suppressing the web viewers refreshing) Thanks for answering anyway.
  8. By a button: Freeze Window (stay on current layout) Goto layout (related table) New record/request Goto layout -back to frontend table -
  9. Hi, I am having a javascript timer running in the web viewer. At certain moments I have to clock-in the time running in the web viewer. At that clock-in moment I am creating a new record in a related table. Each time when I create a new record in the related table the web viewer refreshes itself and the timer starts all over again from the beginning. Is there a way to keep/stop the web viewer (from) refreshing/reloading. Thanks DikkeHenk Rotterdam Holland
  10. Possible or not possible ? When I create a new record in another table (freeze - goto layout .... original layout etc.) The webviewer on the layout (webviewer) I am creating the record from refreshes every time a new record is created. The webviewer contains a java-stopwatch (starts over when a record is created) probably cannot be stopped ?? Henk
  11. Hi, When a portal is sorted. Is it possible to find the new portal row position of the record that was current before the portal was sorted. Henk
  12. Thank you for answering, My client has to upgrade to server 9 or else I have to do a couple of more hours sripting with zippScript. Henk
  13. Hi, I know FM server 8 runs scheduled backups but does it also run scheduled scripts. I have to create records overnight and when it does not I have to do it with ZippScript. Henk
  14. Hi, Can an unstored calculationfield with an aggregate function in it (count) be used as a trigger for an auto-enter (calc.) field. The fields are in the same table. So far I did not get it to work. Henk
  15. Thank for replying again Still no luck, the portal row keeps darkening when I click the on the portal row with the field underneath.
