  1. I realized I didn't give good information the last time I asked this question. I am currently running Filemaker Server 5.5 on a Windows 2000 Dell Server hosting approx. 50 FMP6 databases. I am in the process of converting the databases into FMP7, and have loaded Filemaker Server 7 onto the Dell Server. I would like to, while transitioning, run the FMS5.5 and FMS7 simultaneously off the Dell Server. Right now, the Services for Filemaker 5.5 are open, as are the Filemaker Helper 7, but I cannot get the Filemaker 7 service to open. It gives me an Error 1003 message. Anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this? Thanks.
  2. Wow, thank you so much for the advice, it worked like a charm. Maybe you'd be able to answer my other question... On a server, is it possible to run both Filemaker Server 5.5 and Filemaker Server 7 simultaneously? Or will they interfere with each other?
  3. I have installed Filemaker Server 7 on a Windows XP machine. When on the machine, I am able to open remote and open the file. However, from any client machine I am unable to do this. I have made sure the databse is open, and that the user group has fmapp extended privilege on. The box do not display on open remote is not checked. I do not know if there's a conflict trying to run this on windows xp or if there's some other kind of network problem. also, i tried creating a new database and the same problem occurred. I'd appreciate anyone's suggestions.
  4. To clarify, I want there to be a section of XML code inside the HTML code on the webpage where users enter information. I want the XML code to go out to this site: http://weather.gov/data/current_obs/KOWD.xml and retrieve Temp, General Conditions and Relative Humidity. Then I want the XML to interact with the HTML to put the retreived information into respective fields into Filemaker using the Instant Web Publishing, the same way the fields are currently coming in over the web. Where I am confused is how to do an XML search when a submit button is pushed on a webpage that can send the information into a filemaker database. Hope that helps.
  5. I am looking to add an instant web publishing feature to the weather data that I mentioned the other day. Currently I have a database that successfully takes queries in from the web and puts them into their respective fields. What I am looking to do is add a couple of fields for these web-submitted records. Is there a way to add the XML into the HTML code so that it performs the search and then enters into the fields via the web submission? Sorry if this is a little unclear.
  6. Thanks a lot! I got it to work like a charm. I know that Filemaker doesn't have the ability to auto-execute a script on creation of a new record, but I wish that it did. I don't feel like adding a plug-in on this app. Thanks so much for your help! Really appreciate it.
  7. I just wanted to say that I figured this out. What I did was to Import Records command in the script. Then I chose to specify an XML source in the specify file area, and then entered the Http source and XSLT file. Hope this helps anyone else who was trying to figure this out.
  8. Hi, I was re-directed over to this section. I need help writing a script to import some XML Data. I have an XSLT file that takes the weather data from the NOAA website and I am currently able to import the data when I manually do the import through the File menu. However, I want to be able to simply click a button that performs a script which accomplishes the same thing, but I don't know how to do this, as I don't see which option to use to create the script. Thanks for your help!
  9. Haha, yea I guess I'm good at finding things. I found the XSLT from the filemaker website and was able to do a little research to find out what the address of the NOAA weather XML data site was. I understand what you are saying about the button, but I've searched through the script options and I'm not sure which command to use to get started creating a script to do an XML import. Any suggestions on that? Thanks again for you help! B
  10. First I would like to thank Jerry (Quintech) for his help in the other forum with this issue, he re-directed me here. I actually just had a breakthrough in being able to import weather XML data into Filemaker during an import. The XML link I used to get the live data is http://weather.gov/data/current_obs/KOWD.xml I have also attached the XSLT that I used to do this to translate into the correct grammar for Filemaker (I think that's what it's doing, I'm still new to XML/XLST). I just want to make sure that is a logical way of doing this. I think the next task for me is going to be writing a script to auto-import this data into the appropriate fields for whenever a new record is created. If anyone has any ideas on this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! try2.txt
  11. I have an assignment where I am trying to autopopulate weather data from the web. When a new record is created, I want to have a field that is much like the auto-enter date where it can sit behind the scenes and be filled in. My initial thoughts is that XML data would be the easiest way to go, but unfortunately I don't know this language. NOAA has a website but when I try to import the XML data, nothing comes over. I was wondering if anyone has done something like this before. I am open to any plausible solutions so long as it can be explained clearly. Thanks a lot!
