  1. Thank you. I don't know why I was making this so difficult.
  2. I have two tables. One of them has all of the values that are used to fill in different fields in the second one. I am trying to find a way to mark the original list if the name has been used in the second table. I have created a complex script which goes through individual records from each table comparing each to perform this, but I am looking for a way to expedite the process because once my database gets larger, this will take forever. I have a relationship set up between the two tables linking 'Species List:speciesname = Database:speciesname'. I want to put an 'X' in the field 'Species List:Vouchered' if 'Database:speciesname exists'. Let me know if this is confusing, or if you need more explanation.
  3. Thanks a lot. That wasn't too painful.
  4. This may be a simple answer (it seems like it should be), but I am having trouble creating a button that will return me to the last layout I visited. I have a couple of pages on my database that are accessible through many routes, and I want to be able to make a button that will take the user back to the layout that got them there. I have searched previous layout posts to no avail. Thanks for the help.
  5. Ok, so I figured out how to do it. I know my initial explanation wasn't clear, but thank you to those of you who looked at it. I ended up creating two different relationships within the table. One only linking two of the fields, and the other linking all three. My final calculation was this: If (IsEmpty ( JOTR_Species_List 5::Subtaxon ); Lookup ( JOTR_Species_List 5::Nativity ); Lookup ( JOTR_Species_List 7::Nativity ) ) thanks again.
  6. Ok, so my problem is this. I am trying to create a simple relationship within a table so that I can look up multiple values. My database is full of plant scientific names, and the problem I am encountering comes up when I reach a field that does not have a subtaxon name (empty field). So my fields are: Family Genus species subtaxon nativity My goal is to automatically produce a value for nativity once the plant name has been entered into the record. I currently have my base table linked so that it breaks down each level hierarchally. If I create the relationship through the subtaxon, then empty fields will not produce a value when I attempt to 'lookup' the Nativity. I am still a beginner, when it comes to forming calculations, so I'm not sure if that would help in this situation. I'm sorry if this is a little unclear, but any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance. Mike
  7. Thank you very much. It looks great now. I appreciate the help. I think I was forgetting to display it as text. Mike
  8. Thanks for the help. This works, except if there are a couple of decimal places in the numbers, then the symbols are covered up and there are no spaces between numbers.
  9. That takes all the data away if all three fields aren't entered, but is there a way to just take the field that has no data and hide it's symbol. I appreciate the help. Mike
  10. Thank you very much, it worked great, but is there a way to make it so that Latitude, Latitude2, and Latitude3 are their own separate categories, so that if there is a value for 1 and 2, only those symbols will appear and not the symbol for 3. so if the value is 34° 55.55' there wont be the " after it. Thanks again. Mike
  11. This may be real easy to accomplish, but I'm not sure how. I am trying to input latitude and longitude coordinates into a field, and need to put °, ', " after the numbers. I want to make it so that when I create a Merge Field that the symbol will show up, but I don't want to the symbol to show up if there is no value in the box. Currently I have this as my field. Latitude: <>° <>' <>" it shows up as 34° 54' 1.52" when data is entered and ° ' " when nothing is there. My goal is for the symbols to not be on the form if numbers aren't inputted. Thanks for the help. Mike
