  1. I want to be able to display something like this 1 of 2 on page one and 2 of 2 on page two I have orders that have several parts. I want to not only be able to count how many parts an order has "Count ( OrdersPart::kp_OrderPartID )" but when I am looking at a part in the layout, I want to know what part I am looking at...hense 1 of 2 Right now when I do a Get(RecordNumber) I get something like this 1 of 2 on page one 2 of 2 on page two 3 of 1 on page three The reason it is doing this is because I am looking up orders by Customer(this is my found set).Customers have more than one order...with more than one order part. Any idea how I could go about assigning each order part with the "1" of 2 and "2" of 2?
  2. The lookup worked great! Thank you. I couldn't do a calculation because I needed to be able to change the field if I wanted. Calculation, as far as I can tell, are not modifiable. The lookup was just what the doctor ordered! Thank you so much.
  3. The problem with that is my value list is based on a field in another table. The relationship changes depending on another selection in another field. So you see, I can't hard code just one default selection for all. So if I could get it to choose the first value in the value list. You see, most of the time the value list will only be one value long. So I would like to be able to not have to have the user enter anything if it is. I want it to auto enter the only value. Does that make sense.
  4. Is there a way to have the first value in a value list automaticaly choosen? Without actualy clicking on it....

  6. Never mind, figured a way around it.
  7. Is there a way to make a file not show up in the portal if its flaged? example...these are my files White this is flaged WLT WST WMT Black this is flaged BLLT BLST BLMT the White,Black, and WLT,WST,WMT,BLLT,BLST,BLMT are the same field named SKU I don't want the White and Black to show up in the portal. Just the actual SKU's. How would I go about doing this?
  8. Thank you so much, that was an awesome learning tool. Good advice too, I needed that. I get a little compulsive at wanting to do things the right way!! expecialy when I don't know which way that is. :
  9. Is there a way to loop through a field in all records to check it it's flaged? Here's what I am wanting to do. I want to be able to flag a certain item as preferred. When I go to flag this item I want it to first check that there is not a product of this type already flaged. I have hundered of products and I am afraid that it will strain the system, but it would be worse if 2 of the same items were flaged preferred. my product is Product::SKU So I would want to loop through all the Product::SKU that are identical to the one that I am entering. something like this..... loop----- if(Entered::SKU = Product::SKU and Product::Flag = 1) "Product already flaged, would you like to change it?") else Product::flag = 1 end if Not sure how to loop it so it reads all the Product::SKU's in exsistance.
  10. I am going to shoot myself if someone doesn't help me figure this out....Just kidding, but I got your attention right? I'm trying to make a script that will loop through my portal rows and set a flag to Bold header text. My problem is, it loops fine, but it keeps looping and creating records because of the flag.(Hense all the no no no no no's) I need it to stop when there is no record left in the portal. What am I missing? update. I got it to work by just changing the LineItems::row into a global field. I am not exactly sure why that worked though. Explanation anyone?
  11. Update: Although I would still be interested in more information (very intriguing subject) I have come to realize that we have so many options available that even narrowing it down by the color would still make it too long of a list. I am however grateful for the flag idea, I hadn't thought about the problem it would make in an inventory calculation. I will defiantly use that. One more thing, I want to do a calculation to Bold the text if Item Sold and Item Free field are not entered. I tryed to put this in the flag field I made to keep track of the Header fields. It looked something like this If (IsEmpty ( QtyFree ) and IsEmpty ( QtySold ) ; 0 & TextStyleAdd (fk_InventoryItemCode; Bold ); 1) This doesn't work, and it won't let me put it in the InventoryItemCode as a calculation either. I'm wondering were then, can I put it?
  12. I kinda get the general idea. I am confused a little about the layout part though. How do I get one row to show up as just the header "BLACK" etc. and the ones under to have the real information? Like the picture above? I can get it to do it with every other row being a header but I that's not what I need it to do. Could you give me a bit more information? Maybe a mock up? The picture above is from our version 5 Filemaker. The Bolded headers where entered manualy and bolded manualy. I am trying to cut back on the time used for entering orders. Thank you for your help so far.
  13. WOW, YOUR AWESOME!! You have given me a lot to think about and a realy neat way to go about doing it. I will digest this information and play around with it for a while. I am sure it's exactly what I need. Thank you so much, I was soooo stuck! Gina
  14. Well, the first place I want to refrence it is in the OderParts table layout. I know the count of orderParts now, but what I am looking for is the exact part number. I need to be able to show "1 of 2" or "2 of 2" that way when these get printed out everyone will know they have all the parts to the order. Look at my Work Orders(Orders Part) layout to see what I mean. Thank you again for your wonderful help. ClothingCompany.zip
  15. I had a feeling I was going to have to do it with a script. I have the mill in a seprate table, I may not have named them well but, the Mill table is "Product" and the "ProductDetails" is made up of the size color and style of that mill. I am stumped on how to create a script to insert the prefered mill and were to insert it. I guess I would insert the mill in the "LinesItem" table in order to join to the "ProductDetails" table right? I tryed that once before and couldn't figure out how to do a script to make it choose a flagged(Prefered mill) item. Could you give me an idea of how to pull this off? Remember, there is a picture of my TOG in this post for reference. Thank you so much.
