  1. Hello all, I was wondering if there is a way to force the feilds that re based on calculations to calculate AFTER the data is imported. I know about calculating upon importing, but is there a way to refresh that at will without having to go into each feild and replacing the feild contents with a calculation? for example, I have a table with the following columns: [item] [store1 Sales] [store2 Sales] [Total Sales] Total sales is Store1 + Store2. I chose to not perform the calculations during the import, but now I want to perform the calculations. How would I do this.
  2. Hello all, I am looking to create a table that will allow me to aggregate my data. I want to be able to create a load file in excel with my perameters i.e start time, end time, category, etc... and upon loading, it will automatically populate my sales figures. Does anybody know how to go about this? Are there any good references on the web that could help me? Thanks in advance!
  3. Hello All, I am using FileMaker Pro 8 to handle my 10+gig sales database. On my most recent data load, the database stop loading the data right before it was about to finish. It froze with 120k left to load. Does filemaker have a maximum file size before it starts to become unstable? Thanks so much for the help!
  4. Is there a way to pull up the MAX record in a layout in Find Mode? Thanks!
  5. Hello All, I wrote a script using script maker that performs a find, but I need it to only find items with the most trecent week. My DB is set up to set items with an ID for each week number, each week ID being higher than the previous. Is there a way I can insert a symbol in the "perform find" part of the script to only return the MAX number of week IDs? Thanks for the help!
  6. Hello everyone, I am purchasing a new laptop to handle my 9 gig filemaker DB. What is a good processor to get? Does having mroe RAM increase productivity of filemaker? Thanks!
  7. Hello all, I have a large layout in filemaker that has around 2 million records. I often use this layout to search for particular weeks and items using the find mode. Is there a way I can add something to the laout that would give total for a search? i.e. If I search for week 20, I would like a total for each feild (total sales, total units) for that one week (or however else I filtered the data. Thanks for the help!
  8. Good Morning, I have a feild hat calculates a value during every import. Is there a way I can refresh the data to perform the calculation over again for the enitre database? Thanks.
  9. Hello all, I have a column in a layout that is called "Sum Sales". This feild is currently blank. "Sum Sales" consists of "reg sales" plus "other Sales" Which is populated in my layout. Does anyone know how I write a script that will populate the "sum sales" with the result of (reg sales + other sales) Thanks in advance!
  10. I am trying to search for a similiar word to the exact word in the feild. For example, if I am trying to find the category "Salt and Pepper" but I only know "Salt is in the category so I only search for the word "salt". Thanks again.
  11. I was wondering if there is a way to search for similiar feilds in the find mode. i.e. The real name of the record is "stop and shop" but I wanna search for just "shop". Thanks in advance
  12. I have a quick scripting question: I am looking over someone elses script and they have a line that reads: Go to Layout["table1"(table2)] The specify checkbox has table1 selected. Can someone explain this code for me? Thanks in advance!
  13. Hello, I come from an Access enviroment. Is there a way to perform a simple query in filemaker Pro 8? I am trying to do a simple group by and sum but I cannot find any function to perform this operation. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  14. Hello, I was wondering what the best way would be to save a mapping scheme when importing into filemaker. I import data weekly and the format is always the same, but mapping out the data to match the filemaker file to the takes time. At this time I cannot change the format of the file being imported, so I cannot change the column names to match. As of now, I do it once for the week, and change the "arrange by" to last order (once I do it once) but when I shut down the computer, I lose that order. Is there a better way to do this, or am I stuck. Thanks.
