  1. Hi Everyone, I have a quick question about how to preserve carriage returns in FileMaker's XML Export. I have a XSLT sheet that converts the XML to a XLS file so I can natively open the file in Excel. The problem is that the carriage returns are not being well formed in the XML, so they are just being ignored. I have tries using calcs to export " " in the place of the CR, but that doesn't work either because the XSLT just reads it as data: It just reads it as DATA! Any help would be appreciated.
  2. I knew it was something simple like that. Thank you, much appreciated.
  3. Is there a simple way to simply open the file path in a finder window. I don't want the actual file to open, just take the user to the location in a new finder window. Something like this: set test to alias "Macintosh HD:Users:brett:Documents:Mileage:2007.10.3 TDS Mileage.xls" tell application "Finder" activate open (path to test) end tell
  4. One cool trick I was taught is instead of having to use a loop to set information from one table to another, which can get confusing, simply import records from one Table Occurence to another. Bear with me for a minute. So you find the Invoice Lines that you want to create in the Credit Memo Line table, best way is to use a go to related script step from the found set of Invoices. After you have that found set, open a new window in the credit memo line items. From the CM Line Items, set up an import script step from the Invoice Line Items mapped to the CM Line items table, then simply import the records. If all goes well and the mapping was correct, you will have your related lines, much faster than a complicated looping script. Best to make a key field that relates to the Invoices from the Credit Memo and set that in the import, then build a relationship based on the Credit Memo Invoice foreign key. The Credit Memo lines will relate back to the credit memo through the Invoice #, instead of a Credit Memo number. Might seem a little complicated at first, but trust me, once you get the hang of this idea this is the way to go.
  5. I did not change the WEP port during installation, should be default at port 80 correct? FYI, I have the ports all open. Where would I change the target URL for the FM test page? I do have FMP 9 ADV installed on the server machine as well as the FMS 9 ADV. Why would this hinder the web component from starting? Do you recommend uninstalling it?
  6. Hi everyone, I am also have an issue with the PHP Test files and Site Assistant. The Test IWP, Test PHP, and Test XSLT all are not functioning properly, saying that it FM encounters an error - "The requested resource (/:/ is not available". When manually entering the URL, I can reach the IWP Site with the database references, but the links report that the page says: databases are unavailable. The file is hosted and has the correct user privileges. The test files in the pre-installed locations, the FMS 9 Adv is enabled to use all the extended privileges, and Apache/Web Server is on. I have the firewall completely open, so I know this is not a Port issue (and yes, I will close that up once I figure this out). Any suggestions? PS: OSX, 10.4.10 FMS 9 ADV
  7. There are few ways that you can get away with this. One is to make a looping script that starts on the first records of your found set, either declared that message as a global variable or passes it as a parameter, performs a sub script that adds a related record in the log file with the global/param to the new records. Returns to the original found set, and either omits or moves to the next record, exiting after last. This can be a little sloppy because you could get some screen flickering if you don't control the windows properly. Another, smarter way could be to create a couple of variables in the Contact file; -one that holds the Primary Key ID #'s of the entire found set as a List, using something like the List or ValueList() function. -the other holds the message. Go to the other log file, and use the same logical looping script there, with each iteration setting the first, or last id to the F_key and making the list smaller by one.
  8. Hi, Might want to try using a SUM() function in the sub-summary to get your totals there, then in the trailing grand summary, use the Summary field to get your total of all the SUM calculations.
  9. Just out of curiosity, are you TO's correct in the script step GTTR request?
  10. Hi there, For the "allow creation of records" to work properly, the user must enter info into the portal (&/or) related field, then click out (commit) the records/field. this action will create the records, but not until adjustments have been made. If it is necessary to create a blank records in the financial area immediately after the customer records has been created, you could use custom menus in the customer area and replace the new records request with a script that would create the new records as well as call a subscript to create a records in financial that would insert the parent value. PS: could use auto enter fields to pull the info you need from the parent record, from the script. this could also work with the allow creation idea, but you would have to enter the finacial info first before the fields would auto insert.
  11. sorry again, i have adjusted the read/write on the file. What I mean by local is the field that you want to store the value in is local to the table and not the value list table. test.fp7.zip
  12. please take a look at the relationship graph and a few of the fields I adjusted, mainly the total fields next to the types and the grand total field at the bottom of the list. Because you had created a repeating field to store these values, the relational graph can get a little large. it might help if you type color and organize the graph a little better. but I started the first too, I think the rest you can handle. database.zip
  13. don't really understand the question. are you trying to see another value list of related costs from the selection you make?
  14. make sure that the field you have set to use the value list is a local field to that table, no a referenced field from the value list table. sounds like you are referencing the key field on your layout. did the example help?
  15. sorry about that, just edited the message and added the file. im not sure if this is the answer you were looking for. this method is relying on using a table as records (items) for the value list.
