  2. smiley-smile smiley-smile hello all, I have a school database, which has one main object "school" and three other objects "teachers", "courses" and "non-teaching staff". The database should serve as a form. So from every school there will be only one representative, who is going to fill in the form. I am know thinking about how to generate an appropriate password system which meets this requirement. I.e. A school representative should be able to create one record (for his school) and to fill in that record, but nothing more. Can I generate such an system with the
  3. Hello, I have FM 6.0 and I would like to all values in one column to summed up automatically and to be displayed in one speperate field. Is there a way? Thanks Ralf from Uganda
  4. Hallo, I have some fields, which I would like to display as (in) a table in the layout mode. As it is pretty difficult to arrange all the fields in a table pattern, I would like to now, whether there is a way to do that automatically in FM. I have the Version 6.0 Thanks Ralf
  5. Hallo, I have a simple database which consists of two objects: “schools” and “teachers”. The schools (master file) are related to teachers (related file) through a 1-to-many relationship with the school name as match file. So there are many teachers in one school. No I wanted to perform the following searches: I wanted FM to display all teachers with the attribute “female” who work in schools with the attribute “southern region”. On the other hand I wanted to see all schools with the attribute “sport facilities in the school yard” that have teachers with the attribute
  6. smiley-wink Hallo, I have one file "schools" and one file "teachers". As there are many teachers in one school, the school file is connected to the teachers file by the matching field "school name" and the teachers file is being displayed in the school file through a portal. My question: I tried now in the school file the search for all "female" teachers. Therefore I typed the attribute "female" in the field in the teacher portal, but the search did not work. FM showed me all the teacher and even only for one school So I tried the same search in the orginal teachers file (
  7. Hallo, As titled: In my portals, the values lists of the related fields, which are perfectly working in there original files as non-related fields, dont work anymore. Or they at least dont pop up anymore. Ralf from Kampala ???
  8. Hallo, I am looking for a way to create a script, with which I can insert a field value from another file automatically. By pressing a button in File B, the serial key from File A should be insert automatically into File B. Is there a way. Thanks Ralf from Uganda
  9. Hello to all, Concerning my data model I have the following question: My data model consists of 1 object schools and 2 other objects teachers and courses. The schools and the teachers as well as the schools and the courses are each connected through a 1-to-n relationship: So 1 school has many teachers and 1 school has many courses. (I now that here a n-to-n relationship would have been better, but for the beginning it is ok like that). As matching field I used a serial key, which means that the school is linked with teachers and courses through a key number. Thus one school ha

  11. Hallo all together, I just cannot figure out, whether it is possible to insert several values from a value list into one field. If there a many courses in value list and one pupil is enrolled in many of them, is there a way to choose more than one of those courses from the pop up list or the pop up menu. Thanks Ralf from Uganda
  12. Hallo to all, I have created a database with about 5 objects. For my main object, which is "school", I would like to set a serial key, as every school is unique and occurs only one time and has different related objects (like teachers, courses etc.) Therefore my question: Is it possible, that FM generates in one column automatically one serial key for every school in the "school"-file? And that key should not erasalble or changeable. As every school is unique, there just has to be one key number for one record in the school object. Then I would like to use those key numbers as m
  13. Thanks a lot again and many greetings from Uganda and Germany to Australia Ralf
  14. Hi, I am desiging a relational data modell in FM. Most of my objects need two attributes as a sufficient key, e.g. I cannot only use the name but have additionally to use the age of a person. so those two attributes should serve as one key. My question is, how I can do that in FileMaker. Does FM offer Multiple Keys (and a Multiple Key has not to be mistaken for a multi-key field, which is something different). Thank You Ralf from Kampala / Uganda
  15. Hallo, I work with filemaker pro 6. I have created a one-to-many relationship and I now would like both, the data + the related data, to be displayed not only in the "view as a list" view, but also in the "view as a table" view. Both views are in the browse mode. If I switch to table view, Filemaker only shows one related field with one value. In my case, there is just one teacher for one course shown, although there are 5 teacher that are being shown in "view as a list" view. Thank You Ralf from Kampala / Uganda
