  1. I found this on FileMaker.com forum. I found it interesting and am trying to get it to work correctly. I have been working on it but have not got it to work properly. I am pasting the text below. Will someone with more understanding interpret it and make a sample of it. Thanks in advance. If a holiday (of one or more days) occurs between StartDate and EndDate, and you don't want to count the holiday as a work day, then some changes are required. First, create a new Table, HOLIDAYS, which contains the following fields: Date (Date) Counter (Number) Holiday (Text) - Optional

  3. If posting the file is not a problem I would appreciate that. How would it look if it was only checking for holidays and not including them in the total? So not worrying about weekends.
  4. How could I have it check to see if the holiday falls within the date range that they are requesting time off. For example, an employee wants to take July 2nd thru the 5th off. The 4th of July is a holiday so the only days that would count against their leave is the 2nd, 3rd and 5th. Is there a way to check this. I hope this makes sense.
  5. I have created a database to track employee time off. I use a date field for both fields, start date and end date. I have set it up to just subtract the two to get the difference. It just hit me that if someone takes time off that spans the weekend then it will count Saturday and Sunday as days off. I have been trying to figure out how to take care of the problem. Does anyone have a solution for the problem. Thanks for your help.
  6. Thank you for your post. I had already set that extended privilege. The funny thing is I was trying to get it to work on Friday. When I was going to work on it this morning it was working just fine. Thank you for all of your help.
  7. I have a problem. When I am accessing my database using FileMaker using and account with limited priviliges I can see all of the entries in the portal. When I am accessing it through IWP and am using an account with limited privileges the portal is blank. Any ideas?
  8. Of course since I made the post I just figured it out. Thanks for any potential help though.
  9. I need a little more help. I have done what was explained above and it works great for the main employee pages. I am trying to limit who can view the request for time off pages. I only want the person that submitted it to be able and view it. I used the same technique as above but it is blocking all pages. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? Thanks for your help.
  10. In fear of looking a little dumb. I have tried to use your suggestion. I am not completely clear on what you are saying. Is it possible to put together a short example of how it might work. Thanks.
  11. Right now I have the database set up to only allow users to see records according to username. What I am hoping to do is when they login in I want the it to open up their employee page. I have tried a couple of things but no success. So if their username is sunshine then when they login into the database it takes them the sunshines employee page. I tried creating a script so that under file options I could have it run the script but I am not having success.
  12. Let me try and explain what I am trying to do. I work with youth. I have multiple tables and the youth are working on various things like sports and reading. I am trying to keep track of different requirements that are set for sports and reading. If they complete all of the requirements they are rewarded. Now for example if one of the youth reads a book about sports then it can satisfy two requirements. One under sports and one under reading. I want to create a script so that when any of the counselors clicks on a button it will check to see if one of the fields, in either sports or
  13. What I have is two layouts. One has employee information on it. I have a button that when they click on it takes the to a second layout where they can request time off. When I am using it on my computer it automatically adds the employee ID number to the new request for time off. When I use IWP and click the button it pulls up a new record to request time off but the employee number is not showing up. I tried a script to copy the number before changing layouts and then pasteing into the other layout and a new record but I think I am doing something wrong.
  14. Thanks to both of you for your help. I will try out your suggestions.
  15. I had a brain shutdown and forgot to put that it will be accessed from the internet. It says the Send Mail is not web compatible. Is it still possible to run a script that will run on the main computer and still send emails anyway or am I wasting my time. I do not have it set up to run on the internet yet or else I would just try it out.
