  1. Ok, Hi everyone... I have a db with 80 records. One field is for the "Manufacturer". I want to have a field on a global db that will display the "Manufacturer" that has the most occurrences in the other database. Is there an easy way to pull that value? I have looked at summary fields and a few calculations, but nothing seems to fit. so any ideas would be grateful. FMP 12 Thanks everyone. Blake
  2. Thank you very much... I hadnt thought of doing that way, but it works. Thank you. Blake
  3. Hey all, Using: Portals, Go to related record, Scripts, If/Else Statements Background: In a portal... I currently use a script to go to its related record in another window with LayoutA. Looking to do: I now have multiple layouts that I need to go, depending on Field1. Details: So if Field1 = "John" I want it to go to LayoutA If Field2 = "Betty", I want it to go to LayoutB If Field3 = "George", I want to go to LayoutC In a regular Script I have dont this and make it go to those layouts with no issue, but I am struggling to do this in a portal. So if anyone has
  4. Afternoon everyone, Ok.. got a good one for you guys. My project is displayed on the iPad for my users. The file is housed on a Mac using FM Server Advanced 8 (i know...need to upgrade) I want to export information to an Excel file from a script on the iPad to one path, but use a variable name. I have the script finally grabbing the data that I want, now I want to export it out to Excel. I have a script built that is the following: Set Variable [$filename; Value:request_db::_request.customer.info & "_" & Get (CurrentDate)] Copy (Select; requests_db::_k_id_unique

  6. One quick note to add to this. I attempted to share from my local file and the same thing happened. When I put the file directly on the iPad and ran it locally on the FMPGo... it works like it is supposed to. Any ideas? I have multiple people that will be accessing and using this file, so local host on the iPad is not a solution. Thanks all. Blake
  7. Afternoon everyone. This may be straight forward, but I need to narrow this down. I have a container field that is auto-enter with a case statement depending on another field value. So... Container Field has a case statement that if Field A is Value X then gets Green Flag, if Value B, then Yellow Flag, and if Value Z then Red flag. When I test on my mac, this works fine when switching fro value to value, but when done on the iPad.. it wont switch the flag. Environment: Developer - Mac OS 10.6.x FMP Adv Server - FMP Server Adv v. 8 File - hosted on FMP Server.
  8. Hi All, Ok.. I want to make my new database easy for admins to add/remove value lists as products change or grow. Typically, I would just make Value Lists and enter in values there, but for future use, they are tough to edit add/remove items as things change, So this time I am making a "setup" layout that they can enter in values via portals of common items that can then be used later as value lists. My dilema is that I have roughly 20 values lists I would like to create.. so do I make 20 databases with the list items for each, or one database with all the value fields for every
  9. Not sure where to start. Ok. I have a DB that I have successfully made a field that has a Value List of company names from a related DB. Once you choose a company name, subsequent field auto populate with Address, City, State, etc. based on the company name value. Do to an oversight when I originally created the DB, I am forced to be more specific on my look ups. So now, I have made a new field that pulls company name and an Oracle Acct Number from that other DB. Once you choose which company you want, this field populates with the 2nd field value from the value list (oracle Acct
  10. Here are screenshots of the relationship of the two tables, definition of the calcs i am using for the status field and such, so you can see im not lying in how the count for all open calls work...and it does work. I just want to add the ability to see how many open calls per employee.
  11. trying the syntax to get the count for each employee. I have tried a Count statement of count (If the employee name and the status = "open",1, 0)) But that isnt producing anything... Is there a better syntax to get that count for each employee?
  12. ok let me see if I can clarify this... 2 tables. I have a main page that is using mostly global fields and has portals viewing data from other tables. 2nd table is call records...so a call comes in you pick your customer and fill in the support issues. By defualt, the call is "OPEN" in the "status" field until you close the call by triggering a calculation that then changes that status field to "CLOSED" So, on the main page the relationship for that portal for the open calls window is show me all calls from that table with the status of OPEN. On the main page, I have
  13. The open call is identified by a status of a field as having the word "OPEN" as its contents.
  14. I have done some combing of the forums with no luck so far. I have a count function now that simply adds up all the open calls in a database by a Count (table::field.id) easy Now I want break that down further to giving me a count of all open calls for each employee... I have attempted to put in a conditional comment in calc, and even an if statement, but get errors that this is not allowed. Is there a simple way to do this? Am I making any sense? LOL
