  1. I've been trying to crack this problem for three days now, can anyone help? Thanks
  2. Hi I'm new to filemaker and I am trying to link three databases 1- am membership database 2- a to do list 3- a budget database all off of one layout. The idea is I'd like to while inputing a member click on a link and see my to do list pop up or my calendar. These are the steps I've taken Manage-Databases-External Datasources-Add Then New layouts-Show records from- And I only have the main database, the to do list and manage database options Tried creating a brand new database (budget) and linking that, it didn't work either. Can't seem to get more than one extra ex
  3. That worked great BUT when I try to add another (calendar)it does not show up in the Layout options. Manage-Databases-External Datasources-Add Then New layouts-Show records from- And I only have the main database, the to do list and manage database options Now I am using Filemaker Pro 9 and this particular file looks to be made with 8.5 calendar-8.5_I_070211b Do I have to do anything with a FM 8 file to use it or link it in FM 9? Tried creating a brand new database (budget) and linking that, it didn't work either. Can't seem to get more than one extra external databa
  4. That part I understand but how do I link two seperate databases, what's the steps. I know how to create a button to goto a layout, but having it in a seperate database is throwing me because the option to brose for the file is not available. So obviously I need to put in some code or indicate it in someway, but I can't quite figure out how. Thanks
  5. I'd like to start with opening a separate layout. Since I'm new to this I figure that's what would best suit my needs at this time. My goal is to have the to do list and calendar linked off of all my layout pages so I can check my schedule at any time.
  6. Hi I have a membership database I am creating and I just downloaded a great calendar/to do list from this forum. I am trying to create a link on my main databases layout page that would open the to do list Copying everything into a new table on my membership database seems to be the hard way. Any suggestions? Thanks Dan
  7. Perfect! Thanks so much. Now I'm going to work on integrating the calendar todo list. My goal is to have a data base where I can view all my members info and hit a button and see all my daily tasks.
  8. I'm new to this and the calendar is great and exactly what I needed. I am working on a database and would like to add a button that would pop up this calendar in the same layout window. How as a newbie can I do this? Thanks for your help and patience
  9. Thanks the first problem seems to be solved but I'm still stuck on the second; The first field I have is "Monthly Payment Amounts" it is a numerical field (I am assuming numerical because I plan to put in monetary amounts) when trying to create a second field "monthly payment amounts summary' it gives me an error with the first field claiming it would create a circular problem.
  10. Hi sorry if I'm in the wrong place. I have been using my database for years and now made the jump to filemaker pro 9. I am 75% done with the database for my martial arts school but I ran into two snags. 1- I would like to have a customizable i.d number that when I create a new account automatically offers the last number plus one. I tried creating a i.d number field with a +1 formula value from the last visited record but that flopped. 2- I would like to have a layout/report that totals a monthly payment amount field. I set the field to 'numbers' but I can't seem to get the fields to
