  1. Hi everyone, I have a question regarding identifying available IP addresses without having a table containing all possible IP addresses, and marking them taken or available. Suppose I have a subnet, (meaning valid IPs would be (.0 being network and .255 being the broadcast address - and hence not usable) and i have a table with the used IPs, containing: How would I make a script that would present me with a valuelist with the values from to - excluding, and 10
  2. Where whould I go to report such a defect? It exists in the Norwegian indexing, too.
  3. Yes, I have attached a file showing the problem. When viewing the list sorted by ID, the customers; customeraa1, customeroe2, customerae3 and customeraa4 shows in the top of the list. When vieving sorted by name, the two values containing "aa"; customeraa1 and customeraa4, does not show, but blank lines appear in the bottom of the list. I suspect that filemaker does some kind of weird translation, because "aa" in Danish can be equivalent to the Danish character Å, which is not in the 7 bit charset. Value_list_troubles.zip
  4. Hello all, I have a value list, that is based on a field. I have chosen the primary key (autocreated unique number) as the first value and another field from the table as the second value. When i make the value list sort by the first value, everything displays fine. I can see all records from the field. However, when I select to only show values from the second field, some values disappear from the list, and instead the end of the list just displays a bunch of blank values? What could be the cause of this problem? I checked that neither the key field, nor the second field contains li
  5. Oh, I am sorry. I must have misunderstood your explanation earlier. I understood your sentence "It's just a marker, assumed not to appear anywhere in your "real' text" as if it was just something you used to point something out in your example, and that it was not supposed to appear in my formular. I am sorry that i misunderstood, but I am not a native of your tongue nor of FileMakers scripting language. If only FileMaker understood the Linux 'sed' command. : Well, I think I understand now. Thank you for pointing out my mishap so clearly.
  6. Hmmm....this piece of content: Anders Sørensen Gør dette Hudelihut Svend Hudelihut2 Dette er en test Dette er også en test Anders Svendsen Is converted to: Anders SørensenGør detteHudelihutHudelihut2Dette er en testDette er også en testAnders Svendsen if I try to remove "Svend" using the formula: Substitute ( "¶" & test_val::Tags ; [ ¶ & test_val::Insert & ¶ ; ¶ ] ; [ "¶" ; "" ] ) What am I missing?
  7. Thank you very much for all your help. What does the paragrah sign (§) mean?
  8. So would this be right: Substitute ( Tags ; [ "¶" & Add_Remove & "¶" ; "¶" ] ; ["¶§" ; "" ] ) or am I missing the point?
  9. Yeah, but how do I get the formula right then? How do I describe the line break as seperator? n ?
  10. Thank you comment. How would I go about creating this scenario using a return separated list?
  11. Thank you both for your input. I will try to work this out on the server. :
  12. Hello all, I have been pondering this scenario for a while, but I inevitably end up with multiple commas or removing data that should not be removed, so I am asking for your help. : I have a field, Tags, which contains words or sentences that have been added to the record. "Tags" could look like this: ,Red,Apple,Tastes sweet Now, I have a second field, "Add/Remove", that allows the user to add a tag to the record. Now, if I enter "Round" and presses a button, then the word "Round" is added to the string, along with an leading comma, so the string now reads: ,Red,Apple,
  13. I have a related problem, that does not seem to be solved by this example. A user can input "Tags" in a field like this: Tag1, Tag two with more info, Tag3 The different tags are seperated by a comma. Now, I want these tags put in a value list, and I used the function "Substitute" to replace the comma with a line break, and then base a value list on this field. This works fine, but then a number of entries begin with a whitespace like this: Tag1 Tag 2 with more details Tag3 If I try to substitute the whitespace with a "", then the result is: Tag1 Tag2withm
  14. Hello all, I have a field that I would like to make inaccessible, unless a checkbox has been checked. Is this possible in FMP10? Best regards, Jes
  15. Hello all, I am not sure if this is the right forum, but I am giving it a shot. I have a database of IP addresses, and these addresses can have a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) attached. However, this FQDN is subject to changes over time, whereas the IP is not. So, it would be nice if I could get the field to do a: "host -t ptr ", or the eqivalent DOS command; nslookup, to automatically check the PTR. Is this possible some way? Best regards, Jes Kasper Klittum
