  1. Hello! I'm trying to create a dynamic layout that changes the number of pages depending on what the user selects. For example, I want the user to start off with one page of general information. This is already done and is normal. I have a field that is default "1" (for 1 page), and I want to be able to change this field to tell filemaker to add more pages because I want to add more information on multiple pages. So if I type in "3" in that field, I want Filemaker to add 2 other pages automatically to the same record (equivalent to dragging the BODY splitter down manually) so I can display othe
  2. Hello! I have a portal which has an Item Cost field that points to another table. I would like to be able to overwrite this number by manually typing in a number if I want. I can already do this by having it point to a field that has an auto-enter calculation that points to the correct field. So when I create a new record, I see the correct Item Cost, and then I can go ahead and modify it without modifying the original Item Cost in my inventory. The problem is that I didn't set it up that way in the beginning, so if I do enable the Auto-enter field, the previous records have empty fields. Ho

The only way I know for now is lets say I have a list of items that I want the user to select, I only create one field "itemNames" which has a repeating field of 8. There must be something else that can give me the same results? PS - It's not the first time I see advanced users telling newbies to stop using repeating fields... but what do we replace that with? thanks!
  4. Hello... I have no idea where this fit in the discussion groups, so perhaps I'm posting in the wrong place. I have a field that has 8 as storage. I want to auto-enter in the 8th storage place, but in the auto-enter options, I can't specify field[n], so it constantly enters in the first storage place. any ideas as to how to do this? thanks!

  9. I'm creating a quote for our clients. In my quote I want to show how much all the fixed costs will cost us for the current project. All our costs are in a seperate file which contains : ItemSerial# (auto enter serial) ItemID (Calculation field of "FC" & ItemSerial) Item (text field to be filled up) Provider (text field drop down list to PROVIDERS table) Cost (Number field) In my Quote table, when I create a new Record (new quote)I want to display all of these fixed costs (their names and their costs).   10. Hello! I had set up a Table with multiple fields in a seperate DB(aka: DB1). 2 of those fields were NAME and COST. In my current DB(aka: DB2), I setup a relationship for NAME (DB1::Name to DB2::ItemName) ItemName has 15 repetitions (I don't plan on having more than 15 records for now), and I want all my records in DB1 to display in the ItemName field. I can't seem to figure out how to do this... any ideas? thanks!

  12. Hello! I have a calculation field that has 15 repetitions and only the first repeating field is getting calculated. Here is the situation : I have a number field in another FM database that has 15 repetitions each with a number in them. I want my calculation field to refer to that field and do a simple math equation for each repetition in my calculation field. I've created the proper relationship, and I know that works because the calculation I get in my first repeating field is correct.
