  1. Do I include the password in that file:// path and where? If I don't include the username and password in the path then how does it avoid the prompt?
  2. I am trying to do the same but the URL is not working (at least how I am trying it). Can you post an example or explain in more detail how I do this. I tried the following URLs and nothing opens: fmp7://jfcarbel:passwordhere@127.0.0.0/CaseManagement.fp7 fmp7://jfcarbel:passwordhere@localhost/CaseManagement.fp7 fmp7://jfcarbel:passwordhere/CaseManagement.fp7 My file is actually located in: C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/My Documents/FM10_projects/CaseManagement.fp7 But with the URLs I tried placing the file in the Root C:/ directory and still nothing opene
  3. Also, What about if you have related child data you want to merge into a Word Table? I have found this product EZxslt can do this, but its limited to one dynamically filled table per Word Doc. It is also quite picky because of the extra formatting that Word adds when you edit. I had to do a document section over and over and then even after all that needed to fix the xslt it generated because I could not get it right via their xslt generation tool. I'd love to know how others who use Word do this for more complex merges that involve child data etc.
  4. How does one script this? Do I need to have a layout for every table that I need to export data from and do all fields need to be present on that screen? I am thinking that if these are all exported as CSV files to same directory that I can just then open up the version I am working with that is clear of all data and just have the script import in all the files. Someone have a sample code they can sure to get my head around this.
  5. Thank you, Thank you so much! That worked. The completely makes sense and needed some fresh eyes. Won't make this mistake again. However, isn't it odd that it worked when I stepped thru the code in the debugger, thats what thru me.
  6. The below script will only work as expected in the debugger. The found set of 20 records has 5 unique CaseIds and the $caseList variable in the debugger gets populated with all 5. But if I run it outside the debugger then it only has 1 caseID in it. And I do make sure after each run to redo the find. So I am at a loss to why it would work differently in a debugger. I thought that one could iterate and move thru a found sets records with no issues. Go to Layout [ “MERGE_Contract” (FeesRecission) ] // Freeze Window Go to Record/Request/Page [ First ] Sort Records [ Specified Sort
  7. Thats kind of what I thought. The only issue I can see is with the import of container fields. But with container fields I am only using the file references so I hope those can be exported and imported. The other tips I saw in some post in this forum was to write a script called PrepareForUpdate that would cycle thru all the layouts doing a Show all records since this needs to be done prior to an export and import. I have some preferences tables also that I might update on the development side but not want to import, so I would assume this would all have to be scripted and everytim
  8. I delivered phase 1 of my product to the client and they are entering data into the FM database. But I will have several code changes coming up that I need to apply to the existing version. This would include new layouts, script changes and new scripts, new script triggers, value lists, new TOs and tables. I know that FM has a DDR tool that can be used to export a snapshot of the system. But are there any tools that can compare (diff) 2 DDRs and point out the differences? And better yet to be able to merge those differences. I know that one can import scripts and new databases, bu
  9. I found this and had it saved, but I do not recall where or what blog or forum post I have grabbed it from (apologies to the author, whomeever you are). Rather than trying to modify the record and then test for an error, you're better off trying to gain control of the record without modifying it using the Open Record/Request script step. For instance, the following script shows the basic construct for a record-locking-aware script: Set Error Capture [On] Open Record/Request If [Get(LastError) = 301] Show Custom Dialog ["Record Locked"; "This record is locked!"] Else #
  10. What you are looking for could be implemented using the TinyMCE Javascript plugin in a FM Webviewer. Then on the submit action you take the returned HTML and store it in database. Then just use WebViewer to display it. TinyMCE is very easy to use, it just turns all TEXTAREA HTML fields into Rich Text editing fields that has a toolbar just like Word. Let us know if you get this working. I wanted to see if this could be done to provide a way for users to create and edit Rich Text email templates.
  11. TinyMCE is Javascript. It works in any browser that supports Javascript as the FM webviewer does. Read the documentation on their site. The trick is to see if the webviewer will be able to find the path to the TinyMCE files on your machine or server. If it can then its as simple as creating an HTML page with a TEXTAREA field to capture the text input and TinyMCE does the rest wrappering the TEXTAREA into a Rich Text HTML editor. That is you can add bold, formatting, bulleted lists, tables, etc and it all returns back HTML when you do the submit action. Then off submit action, you
  12. If it were me I would look into using the FM Web Viewer and this TinyMCE as an option to make things the easiest to implement yet very full featured. If you decide to do this, let us know how it works out.
  13. This can be done in FileMaker 10 and maybe other versions as well but 10 is what I use. create a custom menuset where you disable the 'close menu' item. You go into the custom menu. Create a copy of the standard menu set. Go into the FILE submenu. Set the bottom most checkbox (action) on, and select scriptstep 'do nothing' Now when switching to this layout you also switch the active menu set. Remember to switch back on exit. When the user ckicks the close box all that will happen is that the custom menu set will try top execute the script step 'do nothing'. And that is exactly w
  14. Is there a way to determine visible rows in portal? Or to scroll a specific row into the visible row 1 position? Here is the issue, I have sets of data in a portal and as the user selects the master record in the above portal, the child portal below scrolls that set into view showing 1st row of that data in first row. I had the scrolling working by scrolling downward far enough that the first row set of data would appear in first row. But this all broke when the portal auto-sizes for larger screen resolution. So if I can get an answer to one of the first 2 questions then
  15. Not sure I understand why runtimes are not supported. Are you saying runtime solution cannot import? Each business has a single workstation running the app and database locally. I assume that if owner wanted to move to where the database was networked and multiple workstations were required, that a copy of FileMaker Pro for each one with the database located on a mapped network drive would suffice and even then FileMaker Server would not be needed if under 10 users. correct me if I am wrong there or if this is a bad solution as well. Let me clarify a few things: - the data do
