  1. I have a TODO list. Some tasks I want to put off until tomorrow, but have them re-appear on my TODO List the following day. I have two tables; TODAY, and TOMORROW. I can get the individual records to go to the TOMORROW table ok by just using a button and script. This operates on only one task at a time. I am having problems getting the records in the TOMORROW table to automatically come back to the TODAY table the following day. I date the records going to the TOMORROW table and have tried to use this as a criteria to send them back to the TODAY table. One problem is that there are
  2. Totally not sure if I've put this thread in the right topic category, as I'm not even sure how to go about this. First, I'd like to be very clear on the fact that, if possible, this will be done without scripting. I'm hoping for some kind of calculation. IDK. Anyway, I'm trying to copy or Calc one field from an older record to its newest match (using BatchNum field to match). The two fields are different fields (FormNum is the ID number field) (RefID is the the reference field for FormNum ). RefID would allow the user to find the last time the same arrangement of data (FormNum being its ID num
  3. I have a table that contains dimensional data for parts. Each record has a unique ID, but also has another field with the ID associated with the part. I have another table that I'll be storing individual inspection data on. I was wondering if it's at all possible to parse the first table, and copy over all records that have a specific part ID to the second table whenever someone starts a new inspection record. Please let me know if I need to provide any more information and/or pictures. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer!
  4. I have a solution with 4 Databases. There is the main-data-database on a Filemaker Server (only data, no relationships in the Table-Occurences (TOs)) and a GUI Database on the Desktop (only Layouts, TO's are included from the Server-Database and on this TO's the relationships are defined, so I can use them in the Layouts. Than I have a 3rd database, which is a subset of the server database and lies on an iPad. This 2 data-databases will be synchronised by MirrorSync. And the 4th Database is a special GUI Database on the iPad which uses the 3rd database for Data. The iPad GUI Database also hold
  5. Hello everyone, My company uses File Maker to keep a record of customers' addresses. When looking at a given customer, I would like to be able to copy the whole address block (as displayed on screen) to be able to paste it somewhere else (for instance, in an email, or on a Word document). You can't do this from the layout for data entry, but we have another layout showing the address block as a succession of merge fields (see screen shot). I added a copy button, all it does is copy what's on screen to the clipboard. The problem is that, even though the layout is separated by car
  6. Hi there I've been banging my head all day, several days in fact, to create a sub summary report which can reuse records, have a part appear only once and allow me to assert more behaviour over the parts themselves. To complicate the matter it's in a crosstab format as well. I've seen on other posts that what developers do occasionally when preparing reports is to create a temp table of sorts to either store just what records are needed, or to store them in the way they're needed as well. The solution I have at the moment uses lots of summing up and calculations and is intolerably slow to
  7. We have a script which creates a PDF. Nothing fancy, go to layout, Save Records as PDF. However, if the PDF is generated from the Windows platform the document opens as SECURED in Adobe Reader and content cannot be copied (e.g. text) whereas the same script run from the Mac works fine. Strangely if you use a different application to open the PDF (to Adobe Reader) then copying is available. Has anyone else encountered this? Done lots of testing between platforms and PDF applications. The Save Records as PDF script step has no security settings, very basic. Also tried all different compa
  8. Hi all; I made a 1 Mb filemaker abc.fmp12 file which I want to sell. User may download filemaker GO 12 from AppStore. I send the file to user by email. But it should work on only 1 IPAD (in windows it was possible with HDD serial number look plugin). Any ideas ? how to make my software copy protected ? Do FileMaker can look iPads Serial Number? Best Regards
  9. Hi, I am new to this forum, and could use some help with a script. I have found this script on this forum and adjusted it. The script is working almost fine, but i have a problem with the portal rows. Only the first row from the portal is copied and the others not. The reason that i want to copy is that i don't want to type the data twice. I have a screenprint from the script attached. Thanks, Frans Script copy record with portal.doc
  10. I once remember reading that it is unreliable practice to use Copy / Paste in scripts. I have a looping script that copies data from one table and paste it in another as it as it creates 150-200 new records. I notice that here and there, a few records are missing their pasted data. Should I replace 'Copy' with 'Set Variable' (Using only one $ for that script?) and should I replace all the 'Paste's with 'Set Field'? Or is there a more reliable way to do this? Thanks so much and a very happy new year to you!
  11. I wonder if you could be so kind to help me. I've got a list of 18 vocabulary fields that need to have a word entered into each one in order to display their images. Alongside these vocabulary fields I've got a portal that displays a list of words. I would like to create script inside the portal that enters the portal row, copies the contents and then pastes it into the next empty vocabulary field. I have tried 'Go to Portal Row', Go to Related Record' etc. and have had no luck whatsoever. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much,
  12. I currently have a dbase of equipment that I use to keep track of status, documentation and creating checkout forms. For each major piece of equipment (Camera, Tripod, etc…) I have built packages that include all the accessories needed to use that piece of equipment. I then print these checkout forms and fill them in when someone needs something. The limitation of this system that I would like to fix are as follows: - Avoid using several forms when someone is checking out several packages - Add equipment that is available but no included in any packages (cables, extra batterie
