  1. Our lead developer Milan made his dream come true and built a pond controlled by FileMaker and Raspberry Pi. The pond contains about 35 cubic meters of water (about 9246 gallons) and it’s 2 meters (6.5 feet) deep in its deepest point. It is equipped with both mechanical and pressurized filter, UV light, pumps for filtration and waterfall, and an air pump. There are water plants, fish, and other water animals living in the pond. To keep the pond in good conditions, Milan has automated control of its environment with the help of Claris FileMaker and Raspberry Pi… Click here to re

  3. As you know, FileMaker 14 included a new widely used feature: button bars. No need to say why they're awesome, but you've probably noticed it wasn't that easy if you wanted to create a lot of similar buttons, or convert your old button objects into button bars. Well, these are not issues anymore, thank's to Federico Basmadyian's ButtonBarTool, available here.
  4. Hello, I am gonna describe a scenario where total automation needed using only barcode scan, please bear with me: I am creating operator timesheet layout for product lifecycle in list-view. Each operator has a list of unique barcodes(printed sheet) for each production function. Every activity(function) of print production is assigned code (barcode) that represents function type as well as operator name: For eg. if John is working on new plates function for Press he'd scan barcode 301-1 but if Marc is working on the same function , he'd scan 301-2 , Now '301' represents new
  5. Anyone interested in partnering together to help small businesses create online forms on a website, then send that link to anyone who wants to fill out that form, then notes can be added to that form. The small business owners can work with these forms like they'd a spreadsheet. This enables automation of the business' workflows in a way that's still familiar to FileMaker Pro users. The mobile web app is ready for anyone to start using. Check out a demo at https://formgram.parseapp.com/formPage?formObjectId=ejj8YHJIZy Formgram is 100% free.
  6. I could really use some help! I'm in a crunch and need a solution fast. Any Applescript FileMaker gurus out there? My client sends me (usually weekly) batches of excel documents... hundreds of them. I've created import scripts and parsing scripts to get the data from the excel document into FileMaker, but I need a solid way of batching the import process. Below I'll explain what I currently have, but it's very clunky and errors out quite often, so I could really use some guidance. I can look at applescripts and for the most part understand what they are doing, but I'm no scripter. Basic need
  7. We have been trying to come up with something new in our school project. Is there a way we can integrate thumb print scanners into filemaker, just like with barcode scanners? This time, users (participants) just needs to scan their thumbprints using the scanner, and their attendance is recorded.
  8. I have an existing Filemaker script that Saves my contact list as a PDF and it is set to execute when I open the Filemaker file. The script works fine when I double-click the file to open it; however when I use a shell script to "Open print.fp7" via an OS X cron job, I find that many times instead of opening my file and running the script, instead the Filemaker icon is just left bouncing in the OS X Dock. When I click on the bouncing icon the Filemaker window then appears in the foreground and the script executes normally. Is there a way to ensure that my cron job "Open print.fp7" scr
  9. I 'd like to automate a bit the way my windows user access the db. First of all I d like to get rid of the annoying "feature" of windows using by default the Windows's user name in the user field in filemaker. It creates confusion to no avail because my users have to delete and re-enter. In addition I 'd love to hear what others have done, and I am in particular looking for some sort of keychain type password manager for windows. Anything on the horizon? I ve searched hi and lo to no avail, so far.
  10. I have a photo capture layout in my contacts DB and I would like an automation/script to open a specific layout in FMGo from my iPhone home screen. Is that possible? Thank you
  11. Crestline, CA, April 30th, 2013 -- Dracoventions has released 2empowerFM Hands-Free Printer 3.0, the first FileMaker plug-in to let you control almost any individual printer setting. HFP lets you control settings ranging from standard portrait vs. layout orientation to less common staple and hole punch. Save money by turning on toner saver, black & white, and double sided and make complex print jobs a snap. The new HFP can even keep the printer dialogs hidden while your job runs. HFP 3.0 is available immediately at print.2empowerFM.com for both Macintosh and Windows. More Reasons
  12. Goal: find a way to email order confirmations to customers so they can sign and approve the confirmation. My idea was to send an editable pdf with a check mark and spot to write their name. I currently send emails with an attached .pdf (non editable). Customers just respond the the emial, however lately I have had people responding without even realizing there is an attached email. Does anyone know how to send an editable pdf or know of another way to accomplish the bigger goal? Much appreciated -Don
