  1. 360Works New Update: 360Deploy 2.5 360Works has just released 360Deploy 2.5; it ships with server-side scheduling, granular deployments, and several important improvements to the deployment process. 360Works provides outside-the-box innovation, so you can be the genius FileMaker developer at work while using the most robust, innovative development tools you need to get the job done. 360Deploy is a FileMaker deployment tool, designed to make FileMaker data migration easier. It utilizes the FileMaker Data Migration Tool, but it is so much more than a "wrapper". It completely automates the tedious data migration tasks, while pushing changes from the development environment to the production server. Download 360Deploy 2.5 What Does 360Deploy Do? Clones the development database Transfers clone to the production server Imports the data from the production database and into the clone to absorb the new architecture *For large databases, it supports a scheduling feature to run imports overnight. Backs up the production solution in archived folders prior to import should clients wish to revert back to the old version Renames the deployed file Resumes the deployed file What's New in 360Deploy 2.5? 360Deploy 2.5 introduces compatibility with Server Side Scheduled Scripts. You can now schedule deployments from the admin console. This is very useful if you need the deployment to run at a set down time where users are not accessing the database, such as overnight hours. Granular deployments are another big feature in 360Deploy 2.5; it allows you to turn files on and off for deployment without needing to re-do all of the configuration steps. You can simply select the files you do or do not want deployed at a specified time without any hassle. There are several important improvements to help you experience a more elegant and easier deployment process: Multiple configurations can be stored in the same file now, allowing different configurations to use different license keys Deploying the same file multiple times to the same server is now smoother Implemented a more graceful process for kicking users out and closing files; the file-closing workflow has been reworked and improved for a better user experience Please visit our changelog for a complete list of changes. Keep in mind, once you press the 'deploy' button in 360Deploy, there is nothing left to do. It sends the new version to FileMaker Server (or multiple servers), and then runs in the background on each server, so you are free to continue working, take a break, or head home for the night, knowing that the new version will be safely deployed to users on each server by the time you get back. You'll receive an email when the process is complete. Skip the hassle of fumbling with files on the server and stick to the 'one-button click' of 360Deploy for dev changes. Download 360Deploy 2.5 Compatibility 360Deploy 2 requires FileMaker Pro or Advanced 16, and production databases must be hosted on FileMaker Server 14 or later. After downloading 360Deploy on your server and configuring settings with the simple 360Deploy Setup utility, 360Deploy will deploy the development file changes to your users with the click of one button. Purchasing 360Deploy 2.5 is a free upgrade for 360Deploy 2 license holders, which is a huge benefit of maintaining the latest version of 360Works software. If you do not have a license, 360Deploy 2 is available immediately for purchase at the 360Deploy page. Pricing starts at $195, which includes deployment with a single FileMaker solution (this can be a multi-file solution) and a single production server. It allows updated file versions for one solution to be deployed to one live / production server. Additionally, there is a free demo license available which can deploy to any number of servers for testing and evaluation purposes. Higher grade license types are available for purchase as well. 2. I had to update my FM Server Mac to Yosemite and I cannot seem to enable web services. During deployment I get the message: Test web server (http://127.0.0.1:80/fmi-test/test.xml): Connection refused (Please note that this is different from 'ports are in use' which is the other common error;-) I can install and deploy FM Server 13.05 without a problem, I just can't enable web services. I did a lot of testing, de-installed, manually deleted the Library-FM server folder, etc. Re-installed, etc. (when I re-install I did get the message port 80 and 443 are in use, and did choose disable web sites) Also tried port 591 as suggested by FM, same error. (also tried 8000, to be honest I don't care on which port it is web serving, I can remap that in the router) The problem seems to lie in Yosemite switching off access to port 80 (and others). I also have Apple Server Tools so I tried the following: I switched on Web services and then I can access the ports on my local network and you get the default website. (before somebody warns me that I shouldn't use Apple Server, I first tried to get it to work without Server tools installed. And when I was still using 10.8 they co-existed very peacefully, as long as you did not switch on Apple's web services, I need them for some other stuff) When I try to deploy FM Web direct while having on Apple's web services, I get the correct 404 error because the ports are in use (by Apple's web services) When I switch off web services again then I get error 403 (instead of connection refused) but that means almost the same. (forbidden) When I then try to access port 80 from my local network it says 'websites are turned off'. kind of suggesting that the ports are closed on the server now. Please note it is not a firewall issue, I am deploying FM Server from the same mac as it is running. (localhost) I have no (software)FW enabled on that Mac. I guess I am looking for a unix command to tell Yosemite that it should allow access of ports 80 and 443... Any suggestions, work around, unix commands are appreciated... I have wasted almost a day now... Daniel
  3. How do FM Go developers handle the whole e-commerce thing? I've been hunting around the web for the past few days without success, looking for a detailed how-to guide for FM specifically. Is the arena so competitive that, similar to writing a good book on poker, participants are reluctant to give up their secrets? I'm starting to get that impression. My standalone FM iOS app works locally after installing Go to iPhone/iPad. With just one screen and one record, it works like a calculator with various buttons and a few popups. It's almost as simple as a Hello World application. Merely finding information about how to post it online for sale---someplace other than the App Store, which doesn't accept FM databases---is turning out to be a major chore. If no full-fledged tutorial exists, maybe someone can offer a few helpful pointers? (Already know all about web programming...it's just the money part I need guidance with.)
  4. Problem Upgrading to Filemaker Server 16.. We want to Upgrade from FMS 15 to 16, and each time I get this error during deployment. However, when I revert back to fms15, everything goes fine.. I have tried Clean Installation, yet same result.. Can someone put me through.. We are using Windows 7 professional as our system unit
  5. Hi everyone, I am new here. I just began working with a project that has been using FileMaker Server 9 and Pro 9. The current architecture uses one machine deployment but the machine is quite ancient and doesn't support any micro-frameworks that eases my web development duties. I wanted to split this architecture to a multi machine deployment this ancient machine having only the Database, another better machine having a webserver and/or a web publishing engine. The reasoning behind this being that I can use a webserver(Gunicorn + Flask) and use PyFileMaker to obtain my data from the DB using XML. I, however, realize that the web publishing engine is required at the database to publish my XML data which in turn requires a web server running(apache). This goes back to the same one machine deployment. Am I missing a point here? Thank you so much for taking your time to read this. It would be truly awesome if you could help me with this question. Thank you once again and have a good day. Regards, Arjun

  8. Hello, So I'm setting up WebDirect and for the first time setting up a worker machine. I initially set it up using the IPs of my two machines. It worked. I could access my DB with a browser. After setting up our router to forward port 80 traffic to the worker machine*, I found that it re-wrote the URL to the IP address which wasn't going to work. I'm running a Mac Server so I set up the DNS service to resolve the FQDN that is used by our remote IP (dynamic DNS) to the internal IPs and then set my two servers to use our internal name server. I disconnected the worker and then reconnected using the FQDN. It registered with my FM Server but it will not start. "cannot start or stop worker machine" Logs tell me nothing other then the worker was added. *In the process of trying to read up on this and find what I was missing I discovered that I might be thinking of the worker/master incorrectly. That I should be directing my browser to the Master not the Worker. Stats: Both Servers running 10.13.3 and the current version of FM Server 16 Thanks for any insight. Mark
