  1. Spec: Filemaker 9 on window 7 computer. So I have some columns that need to be combine into one but I don't want to use Concatenation as a field because it creates quotes whenever I copy and paste. The example: Name = Nick Field Name A - Nick A (this is produced from entering the name Nick) Field Name B - Nick B (this is produced from entering the name Nick) FYI - Field Name A and B must in the same record. When I export I want Nick A to be first row and then Nick B to be second row is that possible? Right now as it sits it looks like the attac
  2. I've got multiple Filemake databases with 4m+ records each. I've created a layout which calculates a summary using a sort, Groups and Counts. This takes 10-15 seconds, which is OK. However, when I try to export this summary report to Excel it appears that Filemaker has to recalculate all the Groups & Counts, but for some reason this takes several hours. The last report took over 4 hours. I can't figure out how I can simply export or copy the summary report that Filemaker creates for the Layout? Please can someone provide assistance because I have another 20 similar reports t
  3. I develop in an environment with a 50/50 mix of Macs and PCs and have many scripts that either export or save records out to a directory on a server. On PCs, this is very straightforward: just enter the output file path and the file saves, no other interaction required. On Macs, the only way this works is if the specific drive the directory is in gets mapped to each user's computer. This is problematic for a bunch of reasons, namely that it means extra steps and we have users who regularly delete the mounted drives and then wonder why the scripts stop working. Is there a trick for Ma
  4. I'm designing and working with my first Filemaker database using Filemaker 12 Advanced and Ipads using the Filemaker Go app (self hosted). I am having issues with random records going missing from the whole database (in each table and TO). There is no evidence that the record was ever in the database at all and this only happens every once it a while and is not restricted to a single Table; it happens in multiple tables, randomly, with no correlation between the instants. I would say 1 record in 50 goes missing daily. I have 9 main tables that are connected with a key. Each table has TO of ev
  5. HELP How can I Export using a $variable as my File Name I am a new User with Filemaker 12 on a PC. I need to export to a file and have the field "Report Id" be the file name I Exported. 6. Hi! I have this persistant problem when I try to import my XLM data into filemaker. I use various XML inportations in my filemaker database and they all import perfect with the msdso_elem.xslt file, but not this xml type! I don't know what I'm doing wrong... I made this XSLT document, but when I try to import it, the actual record fields are empty!!! This is the XML document I would like to import: <Order url="https://api.fortnox.se/3/orders/3" urlTaxReductionList="https://api.fortnox.se/3/taxreductions?filter=orders&referencenumber=3"> <AdministrationFee>0</Admini
  7. As the title says I'm having trouble exporting records as a csv file to a file on the user's desktop. The problem I have is apparently these export paths: filemac:~/Desktop/LegAve_Orders/$file file:Desktop/LegAve_Orders/$file Both give a "File cannot be created on this disk" error. I assume because the export paths are not correct. Is there even a way to do this without knowing the user name?
  8. I have large db (Mac ver 11) however I am unable to create a script to export to a specified folder every single picture from the container field and keep the original file names Is it possible to create a working script to do this? Kind regards
  9. I need to export a set of records including all the related information into an XML file. For example, the primary record is a book and I have another table containing all the authors related to a particular book and another table containing all the related marketing descriptions - and so on. Is there any way to export an XML file and have it include all the related records - i.e for all four authors related to the book? Any help or pointing in the right direction very much appreciated.
  10. I have an older FileMaker soluation (.fp5) with several hundred entries in it. Each of those has a container and I'm trying to find a way to make a script to download all of those files into a location on my machine so I can reuse them for a solution on a current version of FM. The problem is I can't seem to find a way to automate that process with the older FM specifications. I would like to think it's doable because manually downloading those 500+ containers doesn't sound appealing at all... Anyone have any suggestions?
