  2. Hi all My problem is in Filemaker Go I take a photo with iPad or iPhone in a container field. Now I want to insert a symbol in a point over the photo (over the container field). The symbol maybe a character or png transparent picture. This symbol have to a ID field inside database linked to data. I can have many symbols over container field. It's like a geographic map with symbols over the map at specific coordinates. I want to substitute the map with normal photo. I tested many solutions but nothing is good: the most near is to create a trasparent grid over the container field and any cell of grid is a clickable boolean field : 0 is transparent, 1 is red transparent and this field is linked to data. This solution is partial. Now Filemaker Go 13 has base64 encode/decode data and it is possible to insert a photo in container field and view it in a webviewer field. There is show/hidden object function. Is there a solution with interactive javascript in a webviewer to insert a base64 symbol and linked the object to data? Other methods?? Thanks in advance
  3. New Major Version Release: MirrorSync 5! 360Works, is proud to announce MirrorSync 5, a new major version of the easy-to-use data replication tool that quickly and seamlessly syncs an offline database running on FileMaker Go or FileMaker Pro with a database hosted by FileMaker Server and syncs various configurations of SQL databases. MirrorSync 5 will greatly improve convenience for your end users by making the sync process faster and more secure. We have added features to improve the initial sync making all subsequent syncs more seamless and we have reduced the amount of password requests needed to access the database for syncing. Additionally, there have been over 40 new improvements made to enhance reliability, speed, and stability overall! Powerful New Features Added: Faster Speeds: Run the Initial Sync on the Server With large databases, initial syncs can take a long time when filtering a subset of records for each user. MirrorSync 5 now has a feature to drastically improve this initial sync time, by hosting a temporary copy of the file on FileMaker Server, running the initial sync entirely on the server, and sending the pre-synced file to the user's iPad, laptop, or iPhone. The performance improvement is especially noticeable when syncing with filtered record sets for large databases, and syncing over cellular networks. If you are syncing a custom/personalized set of records from a table with more than 10,000 records, this update is critical for improving the speed of your syncs. During our testing, we found that initial syncs are now 3 times faster. For example, doing an initial sync of 10,000 records into an empty clone on an iPad Mini over WiFI took 9:13 using traditional client-side initial sync, and 3:43 using the new server-side initial sync feature of MirrorSync 5. More Convenient: Encrypts and Remembers User Passwords MirrorSync will now remember user passwords, so that they don't need to be re-entered on each sync after an offline file is opened. It encrypts and saves the initial password on the MirrorSync server, preventing users from repetitively entering their passwords for better security and end user convenience. If the password is changed on the server file, the user will be re-prompted for a new password. If you've been using a shared password for all users to avoid the hassle of password double-entry, you can now switch to the more secure option to use individual accounts, without making extra work for your users. More Reliable: New Sync Auditing Feature to Monitor Sync Progress We have added an advanced notifications feature in MirrorSync 5, which posts CloudWatch metrics and SNS notifications when a sync completes or fails. While this feature is optional and can be turned on or off, it is very beneficial for those who wish to receive updates on sync statistics or receive alarms for sync behaviors (e.g. number of records inserted, sync duration, number of sync warnings). You will need an AWS account to use this feature. Improvements for MirrorSync Hosting Providers Log files are now separated by the MirrorSync application name. This is important for hosting providers to be able to see each customers log files separately. New Support for Syncing with DynamoDB, the Back-end Database of Amazon.com We have added support for syncing with DynamoDB, a database under Amazon Web Services that is simple, serverless, scalable, and provides low-latency data access. DynamoDB is used by Amazon with their retail site (Amazon.com) where it handles 13.9 million requests per second! Give us a call if you'd like to hear more about how we synced a government FileMaker solution with DynamoDB to handle huge web traffic loads. More Convenient with FileMaker Server 17 If you are considering switching to FileMaker Server 17, now is the perfect time. MirrorSync will now automatically enable XML Web Publishing on FileMaker Server 17, so that you don't have to do in the command line or data API. There are over 40 new improvements in MirrorSync 5, giving you more unbelievable new ways to do the unSYNCable! See the complete changelog here. MirrorSync Map: Speed and Reliability We analyzed a month of syncing data to show its speed and reliability. The following map shows MirrorSync users who performed syncs in 45 countries around the world across different cities and countries (does not include installations with statistics gathering disabled). 99.4% of 269,000 Syncs completed with no errors 133,465 FileMaker Server to MySQL Syncs with a median sync time of 5.3 seconds 79,961 FileMaker Server to FileMaker Server Syncs with a median sync time of 12.4 seconds 27,085 FileMaker Server to FileMaker Pro/Go Syncs with a median sync time of 22.9 seconds 19,249 FileMaker Server to DynamoDB Syncs with a median sync time of 20.5 seconds 14,279 FileMaker Server to other SQL Databases with a median sync time of 65.3 seconds Longest sync distance of 1,184 Miles Licensing and Hosting You can download MirrorSync 5 instantly and start syncing with the new improvements. MirrorSync 5 is compatible with MirrorSync 4 offline files - no need to reset sync data or recreate configurations (although some new features, like password saving, will not function until the script is updated). Active maintenance subscribers for MirrorSync or the 360Works Portfolio Bundle will receive the new major version 5 at no additional cost. We are also pleased to announce that we offer hosting services for MirrorSync for the low price of $29 per month. This is included free of charge for customers hosting FileMaker Server with us. Contact us to find out more and get started! For adding new devices onto a MirrorSync license, prices range from $40-$95 per device depending on the quantity of devices ordered. 5. The Location and LocationValues functions both report an accuracy for the returned location in meters, but I can't find any documentation reporting what measure of accuracy is being returned. Is it CEP? CEP95? 2DRMS? None of FileMaker's documentation says, and neither does Apple's documentation on the CLLocation class.
  6. Newbury Park, California – geist interactive today is pleased to introduce GoSign 2.0 for iOS, a major update of their FileMaker Go extension that provides Advanced Signature Capture control, far surpassing the capabilities offered by the standard FileMaker Go. GoSign allows Signature capture anywhere in the layout, display of “Terms and Conditions” on the same screen as the Signature, control of the color and thickness of both the pen and base line, and allows scriptable control over the entire signature capture work flow. GoSign 2.0 is a complete rewrite of GoSign. It is much simpler to use and has several new and important features when used in conjunction with FileMaker Go, the iOS version of FileMaker Pro. Although Signature capture is built into FileMaker Go, it is limited. Without GoSign, database and interface designers are not able to fully control the workflow, nor can they control the look and feel of the Signature pad. For example, there is no way to incorporate “Terms and Conditions” into the same view that contains the Signature Pad – without GoSign’s advanced functionality, the full screen is used completely by the Signature Pad. GoSign gives FileMaker Go developers more control over how they incorporate Signature Capture into their solutions. They can modify the look of the screen that contains the Signature Pad. They can add “Terms and Conditions.” They can control the color and thickness of the Signature itself. They can control the thickness and color of the Signature base line. They can control whether or not the Signature Base Line is captured. None of this is possible relying solely on the standard, built-in capabilities of the FileMaker Go. Signatures Captured by GoSign are stored as base64 encoded text. They can be displayed in FileMaker’s embedded WebViewer, printed, emailed, and included in PDFs. Signatures can also be converted into PNGs and stored in FileMaker Container fields. Integrating GoSign into a layout that is already designed takes about 15 minutes. Full, step-by-step documentation and example videos are available. An example use case would be that of a plumber on-site at a customer’s house. A FileMaker Go application could be made that would allow the plumber to display a work order to the customer on an iPad, and capture their Signature. The signed work order could then be emailed directly to the customer right from the iPad. Feature Highlights: Capture Signatures on iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch Store Signatures in container Fields Store Signatures as base64 encoded strings (print or email without converting to an image) Display “Terms and Conditions” on the same screen as the Signature Control access with scripts Place Signature capture anywhere on layout Control the color and thickness of the Signature base line Display the Signature pad in any FileMaker Layout – it does not take up the entire screen Capture the Signature base line as part of the Signature (optional) Prevent users from using the camera or photo to insert Signatures Control the color and thickness of the Signature pen Control the color and thickness of the Signature base line Example files and tutorials included GoSign is a powerful extension that gives the FileMaker developer full control over Signature capture in FileMaker Go,” stated Robert Todd of geist interactive. “Now, customers and clients can read what they are signing.” System Requirements: Mac OS X 10.5 or later FileMaker Pro 10 or 11 FileMaker Go 1.2.3 or greater for iOS Pricing and Availability: GoSign 2.0 is $79 (USD) for a site license and $199 for a distribution license, and is available for purchase directly from Geist Interactive. A fully functional, free demo version is available for download. Review copies are available upon request. 7. How do FM Go developers handle the whole e-commerce thing? I've been hunting around the web for the past few days without success, looking for a detailed how-to guide for FM specifically. Is the arena so competitive that, similar to writing a good book on poker, participants are reluctant to give up their secrets? I'm starting to get that impression. My standalone FM iOS app works locally after installing Go to iPhone/iPad. With just one screen and one record, it works like a calculator with various buttons and a few popups. It's almost as simple as a Hello World application. Merely finding information about how to post it online for sale---someplace other than the App Store, which doesn't accept FM databases---is turning out to be a major chore. If no full-fledged tutorial exists, maybe someone can offer a few helpful pointers? (Already know all about web programming...it's just the money part I need guidance with.)
  8. The database currently has a container field using the GetMap custom function ( this same function can be found in the FM12 starter solutions). However, I am trying to find a method that will keep the map visible when the iPad in not connected to wifi. Ideally it would be great if the map automatically updated when one of the address fields was to be changed. Anyone any ideas would be VERY appreciated. Zab
  9. Hi, I have a database which contains many photos. These photos are stored in my Dropbox, and are linked to the database through a container (only the reference is stored). On my MacBook Pro, no problem. But if I open my database on my iPhone (the database is hosted in the cloud by a provider), the link to the photo is, of course, dead. How could I create another link (in another field) or script, to open the photo directly in the Dropbox app on my iPhone ? One solution would be to store in the database the Dropbox URL for each photo and open it in the Web viewer but it is not very handy as each photo has then to be downloaded each time it is opened. Any idea on how to use the Dropbox app from Filemaker Go ? Thank you, Arth
  10. Hi  When Custom Menu is configured on an application actions on Filemaker Go Container Field are affected showing less options than default.  On an image view and export options are not present on enabled Custom Menu, only replace and replace keep visible.  On a video again only replace and replace keep visible, play and export are not present.  I hope anyone can help telling me which commands should I enable on Custom Menu so this options continue enabled on Filemaker Go.  Thanks AM  Â
  11. San Diego, CA - April 12, 2016 - Productive Computing, Inc., a Platinum member of the FileMaker Business Alliance, is proud to announce the release of Vessel Service Solutions (VSS) version 2. This vertical solution was designed for the marine assistance industry and operates as a virtual command center to manage vessel assistance orders. VSS version 2 offers additional features and modules, a completely redesigned UI, and improved processes for users. What is VSS? VSS was built with a “paperless and efficient” philosophy and allows users to fully digitalize the entire tow order process from beginning to end. As soon as distress calls are received, dispatchers have the ability to send mobile orders straight from the office to in-field captains. The captain receives the order on an iPad and, after assisting the boater, updates and submits the order to dispatch for final processing. VSS also allows invoices and items to be pushed directly to QuickBooks via the FM Books Connector. What's New? VSS version 1 provided companies with a customizable framework they could employ to achieve a paperless solution. Version 2 has been crafted with industry input and takes the entire tow order process to the next level by offering the user a truly comprehensive solution. Dispatch can send, receive, and submit orders for payment without printing a single document. Using FileMaker Go, captains can receive, update, and send orders from their iPads. They can even perform data entry while at sea without an internet connection. Version 2 has expanded functionality to allow users to maintain fuel logs, maintenance logs, maintenance schedules, time sheets, and pull various reports. As with most FileMaker products, this solution allows for customization, including the ability to personalize all terms, disclaimers, notes and signature requirements, company information, tower ID, and company logo in the modules. "We're quite excited about the new and improved VSS, because this dynamic solution enables users to efficiently and digitally dispatch, track, and manage tow orders, eliminating the need for time-consuming paperwork, resulting in improved accuracy and turnaround time. We've had a lot of support from industry leaders, and we're pleased to be delivering something we think will continue to greatly help the boat towing industry" - Marc Larochelle, Chief Executive Officer, Productive Computing, Inc. 19. Newbury Park, CA - Jan 29, 2012 geist interactive is pleased to introduce GoDraw for FileMaker Go an extension that allows you to add drawing features to any FileMaker Go based application. GoDraw can be used to quickly and easily scribble notes on a canvas, mark up photos or draw on top of technical diagrams and street maps. GoDraw can draw on any photo or image. Imagine a housing inspector in the field with an iPad and a FileMaker Go application. She can take a picture of some problem with a house, perhaps some peeling paint. Then using GoDraw she can draw right on the photo, highlighting exactly where the problem is. Next, right on the iPad, she can insert the GoDraw enhanced photo in an email and send it of to her client. That spells awesome! Please check out the website for more information. There are lots of videos and screenshots. Plus you can download the unlocked Lite version for free! http://www.geistinte...odraw/overview/ Thanks Todd
  20. Hi All, I am developing a POS solution in FileMaker. The POS solution is also accessed in iPad using FileMaker Go. I want to integrate a credit card swiper with Filemaker Go solution using iPad. Does anyone have experience on integrating a credit card swiper with Filemaker Go solution using iPad for processing credit card transactions? Is there any web API available to integrate bluetooth credit card swiper in a php website opened in an iPad or any web API which can return the card data to the web application (i.e a web form) as soon as the credit card is swiped? If so, then we can create a small php web page that will do a call to the API and get the card data as output from the api. This php web page can be opened using a web viewer within the FileMaker Go solution. Any idea/experience on this please reply me on this post. Thanks in adv. 23. I think this is a bug but can't find any mention of it. Has anyone else seen this? This is true with FileMaker Go 12 + 13  Problem: Create two "collections" of UI elements (fields, button, graphics, etc.) and pin one to the right of the screen and one to the left of the screen, so that when iOS device is rotated in landscape mode the right-hand collection is visible and when in portrait mode the right-hand collection is hidden behind the left-hand collection.  If one of the UI elements on the right-hand side is a portal, this still works as expected. If that portal has scrolling enabled, it pops to the foreground even when it's hidden behind the left-most collection of UI elements. I've attached two pictures to demonstrate this behavior.  All it takes is to check the "enable scrollbar" option in the portal and the popping to the foreground happens. If you uncheck that option, the portal stays hidden as expected.  This has been driving me crazy. Does anyone have insight into this problem?    Â
  24. I was pulling my hair out earlier due to a problem with FileMaker Go 13.0.2 on my iPhone 5S (updated OS). I'm running it against a FileMaker 13 server hosted at FileMakerProHosting.com and developed the database with FileMaker Pro 13 Advanced. I have a simple layout for updating a table. On the iPhone, I would click on a field and modify the contents and then go to another record and do the same (List view). If I went back to the original record and tried to modify the field, again, I would get the subject message. Actually, if I went to any record, I got the same message. This would NOT occur on FileMaker Pro 13 Advanced on my Mac. Nor would it happen on my iPad running FileMaker Go 13.0.2 (same version). The problem seems to be unique to the iPhone. I also noticed that my Mac and iPad were not getting any of the field updates I was able to make on the iPhone prior to the error appearing. This makes me think FileMaker Go was in some funky state and not pushing updates--it thought the field was still in the midst of a change. What I do recall is that earlier I had become interested in learning how well Siri would work to enter data into a field. This may or may not have anything to do with the issue surfacing. I have tried using Siri on my iPad and experienced no problems with this same layout. If I logged the iPhone out of the database and reconnected, I would have the same experience. It seems I can update one record, but when I go to another, the problem seemed to surface. Note--the Layout is set to "Save record changes automatically". I tried adding a script trigger to force a commit when leaving the field, but without any benefit. I then tried powering down/up the iPhone and that seems to have fixed the issue. I don't know how to report this to FileMaker, but I do know from other threads that others have experienced this same issue. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. We're close to putting this system in the field to manage all of our service techs and I'm a bit anxious the problem will surface, again.
  25. I have recently setup a Brother QL-710W printer for making labels from Filemaker Go, but have run into a strange page setup problem. It is a label printer that is AirPrint enabled, which allows printing from iOS devices. The printer seems to be working fine, but I have a strange problem when printing the same layout from FM Go (on an iPhone), whereas it is fine using FM Pro. The problem seems to be that the FM Go inappropriately rotates the page from landscape to portrait causing the page to get truncated. (I run a page setup script ahead of time to set the non-standard page size and orientation) What's even weirder is that I can work around the problem if, on the FM Go print dialog, I choose "PDF > View" and then print this; but not if I choose "Print" directly within the FM Go dialog. Also if I choose the "Print" option first, and then later go back choose the "PDF > View" option then the rotation will also have changed to portrait and the image is truncated. It seems as though the "Print" button is changing the rotation back to portrait (even though it is not selected) and it comes out that way on the subsequent print out or when viewing a PDF version. As any one had print rotation issues from Filemaker Go?
