  1. When opining the FMS localhost I try to enable the ScriptMaster Plugin. For some reason I click to enable the plugin, I sometime been able to click on save sometime.. However, each time I close the host reopen the FMS localhost, the plugin is ALWAYS disabled. Would someone have an idea? With regards! Daniel
  2. What's the latest version of FMP / FMPA that gets along well w FMS16? I'm in a workplace where I have access to version upgrades, but we're working with files hosted on Server v16.
  3. Hello, So we VPN in to our office network and then connect to our FM16 Server with either our laptops (Filemaker 16) or FM Go (16.0.4) One of our users can get as far as loading the two database icons from the server but when trying to open the file getting timed out connections. Even when connecting to the internet via a WiFi connection. At the same time, his laptop will connect. Looking in the logs on the server - there's no sign of the FMGo connection. Looking at VPN logs (although we know he's connecting) shows a normal connection into our network. Is there any other source of information that might illuminate the problem? Thanks
  4. So I have a hosted solution, with a dashboard with a couple portals. When I go to scroll a portal, scrolling even one portal screen has a delay of a few seconds, ie I click the scroll bar or try to drag it, and it takes about 3 seconds before it moves. Running locally, it's instantaneous. Running on a dev server on my LAN, there's a slight delay, but minimal. Having read various threads about this situation, my first thought was it's due to a filtered portal, so I removed filtering, but that made no difference. I also read various posts about unstored calcs and other factors that would cause all the data to have to be transferred to the client over the WAN. But here's the thing - at the moment, there are about 20 records in the database, related to the particular portal. Clearly, moving that data can't be the primary issue - right? I do have a lot of Execute SQL calculations in related tables, and I've read that can cause poor performance. But wouldn't that only be a factor when there are a lot of records? Are there design /schema choices that would cause significant lag regardless of the amount of data? Thanks, Michael
  5. The FM specifications state that (On Windows platform), the Windows 10 OS is nos apparently supported. Any experiences about installing FMServer 15 or 16 under Windows 10? Thanks in advance, Jorge
  6. Problem Upgrading to Filemaker Server 16.. We want to Upgrade from FMS 15 to 16, and each time I get this error during deployment. However, when I revert back to fms15, everything goes fine.. I have tried Clean Installation, yet same result.. Can someone put me through.. We are using Windows 7 professional as our system unit
  7. Somehow java updated (probably by mistake) and it killed web direct. Simply down grading java does not work. I've went as far back and un-installing java and then FMS. Then rebooting and performing a clean install of FMS. FMS 16.04 on windows server 2012 R2 My hunch is something is wrong with all the site settings in IIS from uninstall and re-install. I get this error during deployment when trying to use web direct: Test web server ( Error code = 404 What are the complete steps to restore web-direct? Thank you
  8. Hi There, I am writing a system script that needs to be run using an admin account on a Windows Server 16 machine. However when I try to set this up it says that the script is missing or invalid. The login details I am entering are to an admin account on the local Windows Server 2016 machine. I have tried both these, and the default administrator account. If I try to enter the login details for the FMS16 account it says Invalid account. For now I am just trying to run a test script. This script executes successfully when I run it manually as well as when I schedule it to run using the default account. Code in test.bat: @ECHO OFF PowerShell.exe -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Command "& 'C:\Program Files\FileMaker\FileMaker Server\Data\Scripts\test1.ps1'"; Code in test1.ps1: $put = "C:\Program Files\FileMaker\FileMaker Server\Data\Scripts\test.txt" $filecontent = "Hello World" $filecontent | Out-File $put -Encoding ASCII Screenshot 1 shows the option I am talking about. For the test if I do not tick this then it executes fine. Screenshot 2 is showing that it comes up as missing or invalid.
  9. Hi, We have ESET Endpoint Security on the FileMaker Server 16 machine (Single machine deployment). When ESET Firewall is active with default settings, We couldn't access FileMaker databases from FileMaker Pro using external network (WAN). We opened the ports 5003, 16001, 80 and 443. Still no success. If we completely disable Firewall, or If we open "All" ports, we could access the databases. Please someone direct us how to open only FileMaker Server specific ports on ESET Firewall.
  10. Hello, So I'm setting up WebDirect and for the first time setting up a worker machine. I initially set it up using the IPs of my two machines. It worked. I could access my DB with a browser. After setting up our router to forward port 80 traffic to the worker machine*, I found that it re-wrote the URL to the IP address which wasn't going to work. I'm running a Mac Server so I set up the DNS service to resolve the FQDN that is used by our remote IP (dynamic DNS) to the internal IPs and then set my two servers to use our internal name server. I disconnected the worker and then reconnected using the FQDN. It registered with my FM Server but it will not start. "cannot start or stop worker machine" Logs tell me nothing other then the worker was added. *In the process of trying to read up on this and find what I was missing I discovered that I might be thinking of the worker/master incorrectly. That I should be directing my browser to the Master not the Worker. Stats: Both Servers running 10.13.3 and the current version of FM Server 16 Thanks for any insight. Mark
  11. Hi, I want to access a data base «Import.fmp12» hosted on FMS 16 with the new Rest API but cannot get it to work. Testing with «ARC Plugin for Chrome» (great tool, btw) and Postman. In ARC, I get the error 802 – Unable to open file; in Postman, I won't even get that far: «Could not get any response» This is what I did so far: – The file is accessible fine with any FileMaker client using FileMaker username and password (triple checked spelling, etc.) – Can connect fine to WebDirect with any browser and http – Cannot connect using Rest API and http, so went for https – Got an authentication error with https, so – Installed a self-signed certificate both on the server Mac and on local Mac for my myowndomain.com Getting mixed results: – Firefox: myowndomain.com certificate: Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER (to be expected) – Safari: FMI Default Certificate: Certificate not valid (host name mismatch). For whatever reason, Safari doesn't use my certificate. – Chrome: strikethrough https but shows the WebDirect server – ARC Plugin: Using https://myowndomain.com/fmi/rest/api/auth/Import Can get now through to the server (no SSL-Auth problems anymore), but the result is: {"errorMessage": "Unable to open file","errorCode": "802"} – Postman: Using https://myowndomain.com/fmi/rest/api/auth/Import «Could not get any response» and an error message: «{"errorMessage":"Method Not Allowed"}» Any ideas? Thanks for any help. Gary
  12. Where can I find information on Filemaker Server 16 caching and (re)calculation? I have this problem: a customer that I took over upgraded to Server 16. Workstations are still on 15. Now, a soritng... status dialog appears very often, something that didn't happen with the previous version (which was 15, I believe). I know there are changes made to the way FMS determines what to recalculate and when, but I can't find a document or webpage with a good explanation. I'd like to get a clue about where to look for the source of the problem. Anyone with a reference or hint where to look? Some data: server is a MacMini corei5, running 10.11.6, 12 GByte RAM, with a normal HDD (no SSD yet). Server cache is set at 4Gbyte. Database is not particularly big, but has a lot of filtered portals (where you'd have many related records that are filtered on the client). This may be a cause, but then: why now and not in a previous version of FMS?
  13. Our network person and I have done a bunch of troubleshooting and came up with this summary and a few questions. Ever since we installed FileMaker 16 in our two-machine setup, Zulu has been failing. In the Zulu error log from C:\Program Files\360Works\Applications\logs: Oct 2, 2017 8:44:59 AM PDT com.prosc.mirror.config.server.FileMakerServerInfo getHostAddressForProperties INFO: Will use for direct WPE address. Oct 2, 2017 8:45:05 AM PDT com.prosc.fmpjdbc.FmXmlRequest doRequest INFO: Starting request: Oct 2, 2017 8:45:05 AM PDT com.prosc.fmpjdbc.FmXmlRequest setProductVersion WARNING: Null product version; assuming 12 Oct 2, 2017 8:45:05 AM PDT com.prosc.fmpjdbc.FileMakerException <init> INFO: com.prosc.fmpjdbc.FileMakerException: Error 959: XML Web Publishing is not enabled - Run the FileMaker Server deployment assistant and make sure that the XML web publishing checkbox is selected () username: domain\user / requestUrl: I verified that the URL does indeed return an error code of 959. Playing around with it, I found that if you use the DNS name of the machine instead of the localhost IP:port (https://wpe.domain.edu/fmi/xml/FMPXMLRESULT.xml?-db=DatabaseName&-lay=ProscNoSuchTable&-view), the request returns an error 105 (expected response) instead. I poked around on the internet trying to find out more about this, and discovered the -dbnames command; again, it works fine on the main https port (https://wpe.domain.edu/fmi/xml/FMPXMLRESULT.xml?-dbnames), but returns a 959 on the Custom Web Publishing port of 16020 ( So it’s like XML is enabled on port 443, but not for the Custom Web Publishing port 16020. How is that possible? For reasons we don’t fully understand and haven’t figure out how to correct, both the FileMaker Master and the Worker machines ended up with the Web Publishing Engine. So I tried the port 16020 request on the Master server, and it works! Which is great, except we want it to work on the Worker machine, not the Database server which ended up with a WPE. Some questions: 1) We know XML is enabled on the main (port 443) site, what do we need to do to make work on the localhost:16020 site? a. I hope this involves moving the ‘Web Server’ listed in the Admin Console to the Worker machine, but if not any info on what might be going on there would be great. 2) If we can’t get the Worker machine to realize XML is enabled on port 16020, can we change the FM config so Zulu doesn’t use port 16020 ‘for direct WPE address.’? 3) If we can’t do that, are there any issues with installing it on the Master, other than the obvious issue that we don’t want the WPE on that machine? Thanks for any insight anyone might have.
  14. I'm using the FileMaker JDBC driver to drive the data layer of a web application, and I'm noticing a periodic crash in the xdbc_listener process on the server. It doesn't seem to correlate to volume or load, and I can't seem to identify any other pattern in its occurrence. I'm seeing this message in the stderr log in the FileMaker Server Logs directory: fmxdbc_listener(259,0x7000061f0000) malloc: *** error for object 0x7fb036825a00: pointer being freed was not allocated *** set a breakpoint in malloc_error_break to debug Using FileMaker 16.0.4
  15. This is a strange issue that happened only after we upgraded from FMP11 to FMP16.0.3. We also migrated the FMS to a new windows 2012 virtual server, with a updated version of SQL 2012 (previously 2008). Most users (125+) can connect with no issues. But we have a handful of users (5-10) that cannot open the database at all. They either run the launcher and never get a login screen, or after they login the initial scripts start to search for the users data and it never finishes. The FMP software eventually hangs up and they have to end task in windows. Of the users with problems, 1 can login to database with administrative privileges but not without. Several other users get stuck at the searching script and never make it past that. Things we have tried so far: - Reloading the users operating system, no change - Adding the user to administrative group in Active Directory, no change - Removing FMP16 and loading FMP15, then FMP14, no change - Rebooting the server, no change - Removing the startup scripts completely from the problem users, no change I have found some articles about creating a new active directory organizational unit (OU) and adding the users to that group. Problem is we don't have direct server access so that process will take us several days to get the IT folks to test it with our network. Has anyone else ran into this issue upgrading to FMP16? Anyone have any ideas? Any help is much appreciated! Thank you
  16. We're running FMS 16.0.4 on Windows Server 2012 R2 and Java 8 U181 and everything is fine. Unfortunately our IT security people want me to take Java to v8 U201 and I've been caught by Java updates breaking control of FMS in the past. Does anybody have any experience on using FMS 16.0.4 and Java v8 U201? Thanks. Colin Hunter
