  1. Hello, I'm planning to use MirrorSync to sync my FM Webdirect database to a SQL Server, one-way sync. Basically, this is for reporting purposes. But in all of the 360 Works help docs, I don't see even one guide/screenshot/anything on how to setup the SQL Server. What information is required, how does MirrorSync authenticate to SQL Server, what specific permissions does it need, etc... nothing at all. Has anyone done this who can provide some information? I work for a large organization and need to know how to setup this SQL Server before jumping into configuration. (Primarily authentication, we prefer windows authentication so will MirrorSync connect to SQL Server as the windows service account that is running the FM Server? Or does it need a SQL account? And what permissions are required?) Thank you! And 360 Works, please add this to your help docs!! Andrew
  2. How to Sync with FileMaker Cloud Using 360Works MirrorSync Today we want to let you know that it is completely possible to sync a FileMaker solution hosted on FileMaker Cloud! MirrorSync has been able to handle this task since the release of 3.1. The current version is 4.0 and it remains compatible with FileMaker Cloud. FileMaker Cloud leverages Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host your FileMaker solutions in the cloud. Many people are moving to the cloud to cut back on server maintenance time and money. Here at 360Works, we are big fans of AWS - we actually moved all of our hosting to AWS and couldn't be happier. (Jesse Barnum, president of 360Works, presented on the topic of deploying FileMaker Server with AWS at last year?s FileMaker Developers conference.) Getting started with MirrorSync for FileMaker Cloud is extremely simple: There's nothing to install and only a couple of steps to get up and running! Step 1: Host MirrorSync Elsewhere You will need to run MirrorSync on a separate computer from your FileMaker Server, because FileMaker Cloud does not allow the installation of 3rd party software other than plug-ins (MirrorSync is not a plug-in). Once you've launched your FileMaker Cloud instance, 360Works can host MirrorSync on a managed AWS server for just $29 a month. There are several other approved hosting providers willing to host MirrorSync as well (see documentation). Alternatively, knowledgeable Linux administrators can host on their own Linux instance with Amazon Web Services. Step 2: Enable xDBC Because there is no XML Web Publishing Engine with FileMaker Cloud, you must enable incoming access (to port 2399) on your FileMaker Cloud instance in order for MirrorSync to communicate with it using xDBC. You can do this in the AWS console, follow along with this short video: A Few Final Notes *You will want to reference our MirrorSync and FileMaker Cloud documentation for complete technical guidelines. *Users running regular FileMaker Server on a Mac or Windows computer can install MirrorSync 4 on their own server. *We've designed MirrorSync to be something that even a novice user can integrate, but we're standing by when you need more advanced help. If you just want your sync integration to be completed as quickly as possible, we're available to do the work for you directly at our hourly consulting rates. Fill out our message form for advanced help! Download MirrorSync 4
  3. Hi guys, I am trying to set up MirrorSync with a Data Separation Model setup and need a spot of help. I have the DATA file hosted on FMPHost.com, and a local copy of the UI. The documentation states that I must set up MirrorSync in the UI file, then copy that across to the DATA file. However, the setup window only gives me the option to select the DATA file. I'm a bit stuck now, could anyone shed some light on how to proceed? Thanks in advance!
  4. Hi, Our Filemaker database is hosted by 360Works using MirrorSync 3. The owner wants to upgrade to MirrorSync 4 asap. Any idea on when it will be available for hosted databases? :-) Doug
  5. I've set up 2 previous clients with MirrorSync v3.x without problem but just trying to setup another client using v4.0. Setting a new config for Server to Pro/Go at step 2 of the hub config (Copy scripts) it does not recognise that the scripts have been pasted in when in fact they have - it refers to 3 scripts but copies 4 - obviously an update is needed. The version of MirrorSync from the java app is "4.0 build 9400" even thought the jnlp file was named MirrorSync3ConfigClient. I'm using FMS 16, FMPA 16 Error message is "Validation Failed: You will not be able to successfully sync. There is no script called 'MirrorSync'. That must exist before proceeding......". I've tried from scratch multiple times. Anyone else had this problem with v4.0?
  6. Large mirrorsync.data File

Hello, I noticed that on the server in which MirrorSync is installed, one of the mirrorsync.data files was 12GB+ in size. It is in the filepath formula C://Program Files/360WOrks/SyncData3_MirrorSync/FileMaker Server_x.x.x.x_FileName/mirrorsync.data Is there any way to either reduce the size of this file, or stop it getting any bigger? Thank you in advance for you help Lewis
  7. Since going from version 2 to 3 of MirrorSync last year we have constantly had MirrorSync crashing the Web Publishing Engine. Sometimes it says "Error from server: FileMaker XML WPE Web Publishing Engine is not running at <the hosted IP>. Ensure that the WPE is working correctly, and then try this operation again." But usually it is an Error 10 error. "Error 10 while connecting to http://<the hosted IP>/sync?ping=1&config..." Early on we made the documented suggested changes for this error, to the connectionTimeout Property in the IIS Manager application. With no noticeable effect. Most of the time MirrorSync works as expected and does a great job and then clients can't sync and all hell breaks loose. Do you have any other suggestions for what might be causing this issue?
  8. During the installation of MirrorSync I can not select the spoke database if I select the option to use a separate mobile file. I get an error message thta MirrorSync can not get the database names (image mirrosync2). However database names are available when I select the hub database (image mirrosync1). When I select the option sync with an emtpy clone or complete copy of the main file I can continue the installtion process. Any idea why Mirrosync can not find db names for the spoke database?
  9. Hello, I am getting an error while sync, "Last sync failed: com.prosc.sync.AbortException: Failure while recording changes from FileMaker Server 192.168.8.150/sync_Information: java.sql.SQLException: IO error: position 13016373" Is it possible to skip this one particular table in MirrorSync sync to test the other tables?
  10. If I wanted to script a mobile device update process, is it possible to directly access the download link and not have to go through the intermediate trigger page?. I would like to grab a copy of the hosted file and insert it into a container. Currently hitting the download link returns the "Download file is ready and should automatically start downloading now." Then later a JS forced download. C
  11. My use case is such that mobile users need some records that have containers. The hub has containers stored externally. Deploying to the mobile device breaks the container. Triggering the Server side record will 'refresh' the mobile container and display its contents (after a sync) Can I force a table (or found set) to sync from the server to the mobile device WITHOUT forcing those images to download to all the other mobile devices?. Each iPad will have its own set of records. What are some options here? Am I forced to tickle the containers server side forcing a download or any device that would normally download them? Is there a way to force a download of just this one table and not affect the others? or the modTimeStamp? cheers
  12. I tried to install MirrorSync 3.17 today on a MacOS with 10.12.3 and FMS 15.0.3.308. The installer is hanging at about 80% progress at "Running package scripts..." Is there an installer log file that I can examine? In addition I noted in the docs the restriction against multiple users sharing the same file on the same device: http://docs.360works.com/index.php/MirrorSync_advanced_topics#Can_I_share_a_device_among_multiple_users.3F I am wondering about the details of this restriction and is it possible for multiple users to share the same db file on the same device if there is no record filtering or record-level access features enabled?
  13. We have recently released versions 3.14 - 3.16 of MirrorSync with improvements for recovery mode, high-volume syncs, and rebuilding sync data. Overall, the reliability of MirrorSync has greatly improved, and the speed of SQL and server-to-server syncs have increased significantly! Immediately after the release of 3.14 and 3.15, we were able to identify and fix a few quirks resulting in an even more reliable version with 3.16. In 3.16, we even added a few additional features including the ability to pre-populate databases for server-to-server syncs with non-FileMaker databases, faster initial syncs, and new support for re-importing a new configuration over an existing one, which is very useful in a vertical market solution deployment. This is a free update for current users. For those new to MirrorSync, the server license is free and ships with one free configuration of FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Go syncing with FileMaker Server and one free device allowance. All additional configurations and devices are available for purchase. MirrorSync can sync between any combination of FileMaker Pro, FileMaker Go, FileMaker Server, SQL database (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or any database that supports JDBC), Salesforce, and Amazon RedShift. To download the current version, please visit the MirrorSync product page For a complete list of changes, please visit our MirrorSync changelog

  15. After a quick search, I couldn't find anything about MirrorSync and FileMaker Cloud. Is MirrorSync compatible with FM Cloud? Found it in the MS documentation, yes with an asterisk.
  16. iPad link download

Hello there, Is there a way to download the mirrorsync link directly on an iPad? In my final workflow I'll send the link with the newest version and users will open it directly from the ipad. Is there any integration with even other 3rd parties software to download the file on the ipad and then run it from Filemaker? Thanks.
  17. Hello there, I'm just investigating on 2 issue I have on sync 2 DB, 1 on the server and 1 on the iPad that are set to use a Spoke Db in the middle tier. Basically the sync is set to copy ALL the data from some tables on the server to the local db and send some data from the local db to the end server db. For some reason, on a large table, called Articles, with more than 130k records, the sync does not copy all the record for some users. There is no 'filter' based on user on the end db, and I run a pre-populate sync on the spoke db that copied all 130k records. When the sync is run for that specific user, the final result on the iPad is that the sync DELETES 12k records for no apparent reason. In addition, there is a Global table that has always 1 records and is get from the server to the client. But I found some times that there are several records on that table (more than 10) on the server, even if the sync is set to write on the spoke and not viceversa for that table. I have the suspect that are written from the sync. Is it possible? Thanks in advance, Gianluca
  18. After upgrading to MirrorSync 3 from 2, I can no longer sync container fields. During the reconfiguration process, I get the tooltip in the uploaded image below. The tooltip says "Neither field is writable. This could be because they are calculation or summary fields. It could also be caused by field-level validation or custom access privileges.". These container fields are not calc or summary fields. There is no field level validation or custom access privileges that I know if. They are full access, and the fields have not changed since my last MirrorSync 2 configuration. Please help!
  19. Hi, I have MirrorSync(2.6) configuration with FileMaker Server to FileMaker Server Configuration. I Stop the synchronisation, I stop FileMaker server spoke , I transfer on the new one... I have to change the ip configuration on the Spoke Server but MirrorSync ask me to install with a clean DataBase .... But it's impossible because we have a lot of Container Field ... and it will take to much time... What can i do to not have this problem. Thank you Marc
  20. Is it possible to sync data in a Filemaker portal to an external MySQL database? For example, an invoice listing multiple products stored in another table (assuming I only want the information in the portal, such as qty, name, price). Or do we have to manually sync all related tables behind the scenes and then re-create the relationships using joins later? Thank you!
  21. With MirrorSync 3 set to come out at DevCon, what is going to happen to people who have existing MirrorSync 2 licenses? We're about to buy a MirrorSync license. Do we need to wait for 3 to be released first in order to avoid an immediate upgrade two weeks later? Thanks.

  23. Hello Is it possible to use MirrorSinc with an App built with iOs Development Kit?
  24. Hello there, I installed today mirror sync as a trial on a filemaker server to give it a try. After Installation and reboot of the server (basically it wasn't responding) I logged in on mirror sync and start creating a new configuration, but It gives me an error when I try to access to the database server. What am I missing?
  25. I'm sure this is covered somewhere but my search didn't turn anything up. Is there a flag in MirrorSync that I can use to trigger a script if there is a successful sync? I believe I saw this somewhere but can't locate it. In particular I'm looking to trigger a script on FM Go. Thanks!
