  1. Hi. I seem to find variating answers to this topic, so here I try again. How do I use a variable to perform a find in a script? I want to use the field contents of the current record to search for similar records. Background: We send a lot of people out to different countries and I want to make a script that makes an excel sheet with various data based on the country field of the current record. Hence, if the current record is going to France, I want to see everybody that we currently have in France etc. However, we have two return dates so I need to do two searches:
  2. Aloha All, DISCLAMER I'm not a programmer nor a technical writer and also is ESL. So my writing is tailored to me or someone like me aka noobie as F* (toward me not you). Detail and step by step and as clear as possible. Please let me know if i’d missed something or grammar correction. System: As of 04-20-2016 (not potting around) macOS 10.11.4 (yeah I’m using macOS name form now on instead of OS X), iOS 9.3.1, Filemaker Pro Advance 14.0.5 and GO 14.0.4 OBJECTIVE Make merge variable to show the slide control panel's object name (the name of the front most slide panel)
  3. When I set a variable this way: Set Variable [$StudentIDs = ""] the actual value of $StudentIDs is 0, not empty or blank. So it fails the IsEmpty test. Is this by design, it is a bug or am I doing something stupid? - Brad
  4. Hi , I am really new to FMP 13 I wonder if someone can help me to figure how to put the TEXT in a Layout like in the picture I attached, by SET VARIABLE. I want to put it appear on the screen (print text on layout).  Can I make a script single script to get all those data or I need to make every single variable ?  Please help my seniors. Â
  5. Hi I am trying to use Set Variable to capture a date. Then I want to take that date, add one day to it and perform a find for a date range. My script looks like this Set Variable [$$Inv_date; Value:Inventory_Date::LastUpdate] Enter Find Mode Set Field [Date; ($$Inv_date)+1 &"..."& g_search_date] Perform Find It works some of the time but not consistently and I think the problem is that when I defined the variable it says "calculation result must be text" How do I get it to say "calculation result must be date"? Thanks in advance
  6. I once remember reading that it is unreliable practice to use Copy / Paste in scripts. I have a looping script that copies data from one table and paste it in another as it as it creates 150-200 new records. I notice that here and there, a few records are missing their pasted data. Should I replace 'Copy' with 'Set Variable' (Using only one $ for that script?) and should I replace all the 'Paste's with 'Set Field'? Or is there a more reliable way to do this? Thanks so much and a very happy new year to you!
