  3. Hello everyone - new here, and looking for some knowledge. Let me start by explaining what I want to do - there may be multiple ways, or no way at all to acheive this. I have a database I have created. I have people who would like to use it. I do not own/or want to own there data/server. What I would like to be able to do is shut them out from using the layout/database if issues arise. Possibly make the layout authenticate monthly? The issue lays in the fact that I will not own or control their network or server. Help please?!?!?!
  4. I would like to edit a value list via a web interface- I have done this using a field ("Use values from field"), but that [I incorrectly assumed, see doughemi's suggestion below!] requires adding/editing a record for each value, while (if possible) the textarea box would allow the editing of the whole value list at once. Genx showed how to display a value list... $layout = $fm->getLayout('my_template'); $list = array_map("htmlentities",(array)$layout->getValueList('my_list')); I am hoping there is some easy way to send back an edited valuelist… We are using Filemaker Server 11 (not advanced). Thanks in advance!

solutions wanted Filemaker DB linking to web API

I want to be able to license my FM DB data for a web application. A potential client requires access via an API. I don't have much experience of using FM over the web. I don't imagine they want my summaries and relational stuff, just raw data eg qty, price, description. What is the best way to configure this and secure my data? For example: 1. I think it would be more efficient to create a new DB with just the info they need - but would want to sync this automatically back to the main DB to pick up new data entry - smaller files, more protection, faster etc etc. Would I then use FM Server to offer the data to their API - how does this work? Could I have several clients linking to the same data? What is the software I would need? Can you think of alternative set-ups? How long would it take to do this work and what might it cost to set this up?
  6. Greetings - I got my start with CWP using FMwebstudio as the front end library to the FileMaker API (Dreamweaver). That library is no longer maintained. One of very cool things about that library was a dynamic field capability, fmsLiveInputField, where the changes you made in a web page were updated into the database in real time. I used it for event registration where the total attending and fees due automatically updated. I'd like to replicate this functionality ... display the total due, a show a few other live calculations. I prefer a PHP solution but realize javascript might be a better approach these days. I'm not a javascript guru so your help pointing me in the right direction would be helpful. And I do not want to use WebDirect due to the public pacing nature of this site and unpredictability in users active. Thanks!
  7. Hello all So I'm pretty new to Filemaker and CWP - I have created a form which people fill out and it stores the data in a filemaker solution. The idea being a script is then run which will notify a user if the form has been submitted. Now I have the script for that and all the Filemaker side completed, as well as the data entry from the PHP form, but I am really struggling with running a script with a parameter... It runs the script, but not the parameter attached. For a bit of context, Someone fills out the form and it is entered into the database, a script is then called with the parameter being an ID, the script then checks the ID with the parameter ID and then sends a notification to the user with the details from the record where the IDs match... but it will not pass the ID parameter into the script from the web application. Here is my script require_once ('FileMaker.php'); $fm = new FileMaker(); $fm->setProperty('database', 'comms__web'); $fm->setProperty('hostspec', 'http://192.168.X.XXX'); $fm->setProperty('username', 'web'); $fm->setProperty('password', 'XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX'); $newPerformScript = $fm->newPerformScriptCommand('Web','TestScript','test'); $result = $newPerformScript->execute(); Please help me out here... Been trying to research this issue and nowhere really actually helps. Cheers Jack
  8. Hello everyone, I have written a short line of code as a custom html in the web viewer such that when the link present in the web viewer is clicked it runs a particular script in the file with a parameter. It looks like this: "data:text/html," &" <html> <body> &"/"& Get ( FileName )& "?script=<scriptName>&param=" & <someField> &"'>View Map Detail</a> </body> </html>" Now I know that this web viewer is doing what i want it to do. upon clicking the link the script is executed with the appropriate parameter. However each time the link is clicked filemaker reopens the file that i am trying to work with and asks me to reauthenticate and then runs the script. The functionality i want is for the link to be clicked in the web viewer and the script to run in the same (currently open) file. in case it helps, sharing is turned on, and when the script runs it reopens the file with the title: FileName (ComputerName)
  9. I am having some trouble with the web server after installing FMS 12.0.5. This is on Mac OS X 10.8.5. Server.app is currently installed, but it was not present at the initial installation of FMS (if that matters). I can't verify that this was working before Server.app did get installed. I also wasn't the one executing the initial installation of the OS, the OS patches, or FMS. This was a fresh OS install and thus a fresh FMS install as well. Reinstalling is an option, but would rather avoid it if there is some simple configuration issue that I need to clear up. I have tried an 'edit deployment' process, but that didn't fix anything. The primary issue is that the web server often reports 'File not found' when accessing certain paths (e.g. IWP). It IS able to serve up regular web pages from the default directory ( /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/Default/index.html). I put some test files there (e.g. phpinfo.php, and a 'Hello world' type HTML file) and our custom static IWP login pages there; I am able to get to either the custom IWP pages or the test files, but when I login to IWP (from our custom pages) it gives me the result above. That is also the error that I get if I try this URL: localhost/fmi/xml/FMPXMLRESULT.xml?-dbnames. And I can't reach anything trying the default IWP home page: localhost/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html So, there is probably something messed up in the web server configuration during the installation gyrations. The web server IS using a redirect: all traffic to HTTP is redirected to HTTPS. This problem exists even when the redirection is turned off, though. Anyone have any ideas of where to look? Thanks, C
  10. Hi all We have a web based tickets portal which creates new messages in our filemaker database - this is for customers' use. It does this using the PHP API (the website was developed by a third party). We would like the owners of tickets to be notified when the customer has added a message to one of the tickets that they are in charge of. Is there a way for filemaker/filemaker server to trigger a 'send email' script when a new record is created via the web portal? Or would it be simpler for this action to occur on the web side? Many thanks
