  1. Dear all, I am relatively new to FileMaker and I would like to ask for help. I developed a database that I uploaded in WebDirect. I used custom privilege set to restrict my users from seeing data, they are not supposed to access. However, I want to allow them performing find based on all available records and display only a Summary field - like average for example. In order to do that I made a script which performs find in a separate window and I used the following condition in the privilege set: If ( Get ( WindowName ) = "Search" ; 1 ; User = Get ( AccountName ) ) In FM13 it works, but in WebDirect it does not function. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
  2. Can web direct run all the scripts from filemaker 13? Thanks. KC
  3. Background... Worldcloud routinely resales FileMaker licensing to it's clients. Other than our monthly and/or shared server clients, it is a better value for our clients to purchase AVLA licensing as opposed to renting licensing monthly from Worldcloud. This in fact is part of the reason why FileMaker created the FBA program. Once a year we renew the majority of our FileMaker licesning with AVLA licensing. This year, our annual PO is due on Dec 22, 2013. Normally, our users would not care when our licensing renews, as we can resale new licensing at any time through the FileMaker FBA website. The 'catch' this year is that FileMaker has been particualrly generous with the 'conversion' of FileMaker Server Advanced licenses. Not only is the least expensive SKU to get 25 concurrent licenses, but they are also allowing us to increase of these licenses as long as the increase is done on the same aggreement as an existing FileMaker Server Advanced AVLA order, placing us in a unique position to make 'awesome' deals to our clients. Offer... Since Worldcloud has the ability to purchase multiple FileMaker Server Advanced / FileMaker 13 Server + 25 Concurrent license on Dec 22 under FMI's current upgrade policy, we are offering 'almost half price' on a license which FMI normally sells for $1,848. This is a one year, AVLA license. Offer #1 $999 for FileMaker Server 13 + 25 Concurrent licenses think of it as WebDirect/ Go for under $28 per user!!! for use on any FileMaker Server- including your local servers offer expires Dec 21, 2013 Offer #2 $799 for FileMaker Server 13 + 25 Concurrent licenses think of it as WebDirect/ Go for under $20 per user!!! when ordered with a Worldcloud Dedicated FileMaker Server** offer expires Dec 21, 2013 Offer #3 20% Off on Annual Service Plans at Worldcloud Shared, Dedicated, and/or virtual clients expires on Dec 31, 2013 Why... We have our own reasons: We realize the number of licenses we purchase from FileMaker is part of the critera used to determine whether a vendor may be considered for FBA Partner status If we sell enough of these licenses, we can get better 'Tier pricing' on our entire order and will save us money on other licenses on this order. It's a way to promote Dedicated FileMaker Servers from Worldcloud It's a way to stop (some) of the compaining about FileMaker's new pricing It makes us money - not much, but about what we would normally make off reselling a FMI Server license It's an oppotunity to sell additional licensing- we give (modest) discounts on all FileMaker licensing- call/email for quote We are in a position (as an AVLA FileMaker Server Advanced license holder) which many other users do not qualify Normally, we do not go into the specific details of our license renewals in a public forum; however, in this case we felt that if users understood the situation they are more adpt to beleive the creditbiltiy of our offers... ** see Worldcloud.com for pricing of dedicated servers, price not included as part of 'Offer #2'. 4. I have an FM solution where the checkbox is minimized to its width and in webdirect it still shows the "1". FM: http://cloud.zerobluetech.com/image/1B2z1J353L1O Webdirect: http://cloud.zerobluetech.com/image/421H1Q2i171g Then I went down in font size and at 18 it actually works, with a width of 20. Just wanted to let you guys know. The other thing is a button on a portal row. It fits perfectly well in FM and works. In webdirect I had to put it in the front and remove the fill color.
  5. Just porting a FM11 database into FM13 Server. When I access the database through a browser (Safari or Chrome) and try and scroll down a list of records a) I don't see a scroll bar along the side and using my mouse scroll wheel, the scroll is slow and disjointed. I also have a Next 25 and Previous 25 button and they too function very slowly. Any suggestions ? Am I supposed to see a scroll bar? Thanks.
  6. I hope some one must have come through this and have solved this type of issue. We are trying to provide public access to FM files in web direct using an external IP. But the External IP doesn't seem to work. While Checking the ports mappings of the system, and came through that the port 80 is been blocked by default web service. So is there any way to map the correct ports to filemaker so that we could be able to access the web direct files using an External IP without affecting the other web services using those ports ? Any suggestions....
  7. I can see there is dark black line on the middle of the portal when I share the FM Screen via Web Direct. Â But I would say there is no issues with that screen when I view via FileMaker pro. (Refer attached image) Â anybody can share your experience to resolve this web direct issue.
  8. I have a webdirect app which is working OK, but my script to exit doesn't seem to be working, e.g. ExitApplication does nothing, whereas CloseWindow ExitApplication actually bumps the user back to the filemaker web direct database list home page. Anyone else seeing this?
  9. I have a solution that uses WebDirect to publish a list of files stored in a container. Is there a way using a url to direct download a file stored in a container?
  10. I have created script step to send an email going to the addresses from the email field(s) in the found set.  From Filemaker Pro 13 client version the addresses are added correctly with a comma between them, but the script run via the browser (Safari) inserts a semicolon between each address which renders them all as unrecognizable addresses via the email client (Apple Mail).  So, not wanting to go through 200 email addresses and replace semicolons  with commas.......................... is this a bug in WebDirect?  The "Email" script step shows as compatible for WebDirect.  Thanks,  Marc
  11. Hi - I'm using filemaker pro advanced and working with webdirect layouts, But I do not find URL to see the filemaker layouts on Browsers. Is it possible to see this pages without hosting fm application to fm server. Thanks in advance for your reply
  12. Would be most grateful if somebody could help please. I have developed a WebDirect solution which all works fine. I type in https://81.137.35.92/fmi/webd into my browser, it lists my database file named 'Portam' and I'm then able to log-in. I'm also able to access the file via Filemaker Pro Advanced using the Open Remote File facility and selecting the host fmnet:/filemakerserver.cunliffes.local/, this then lists my file 'Portam' and like with above i'm then able to log-in. I firstly have to make a VPN connection however to my office for my file 'Portam' to be listed when selecting the host, else my file doesn't appear. What's confusing me is that I recently asked for help via the forum with a few issues with my solution, and in providing the filemaker I.P Address only 81.137.35.92, and setting up an account for this person I seen via the filemaker server console that he had managed to log-in. I know that a VPN connection isn't required, and he doesn't have a VPN set-up to allow him to connect into our office, so what is he doing differently? It would be great if somebody could help as my client has just purchased Filemaker Pro to access the solution, instead of via the browser, and they don't have a VPN connection set up to connect into my office so at present they can't access it this way, only via a browser. Sorry if the above is a little confusing, have tried to explain it the best I can Regards Steve
  13. I have a file designed for web direct that is connected to multiple different files on my server. Is there a way to hide all of the files except for the one designed for web direct? The website I'm referring to is https://<server ip address>/fmi/webd.
  14. Hello Someone known as a way to process PayPal payments in WebDirect? Thanks
  15. I wonder if anyone has had success with WebDirect_Params: Extending WebDirect: URL Parameters I have got the solution to work with Safari, but for some reason it is not working with Chrome or Firefox. I keep getting this error in those browsers: Warningfopen(/tmp/E52E6D36-56A2-BF48-9893-F2E27E7CCE4D.txt) [<a href='function.fopen'>function.fopen</a>]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/website/public_html/php/fm_read.php on line 10 Unable to open file! Here is the php file it is referring to: <?php // check for required parameter, should match the UUID passed in fm write file. if(isset($_GET['file_uuid']) && strlen($_GET['file_uuid'])>0 ){ $filename_string = filter_var($_GET['file_uuid'], FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING); $fn = '/tmp/'.$filename_string.'.txt'; $fr = fopen($fn, "r") or die("Unable to open file!"); echo fread($fr, filesize($fn)); fclose($fr); unlink($fn); // remove the file once read } else { exit('Error: No file.'); } The person who posted the article is not responding to my questions. Any one have any ideas of why it works on one browser, but not the others. Thanks in advance - Sam
  16. Is there a way to change the browser window title of the login prompt that appears when you are redirected to "http://website/fmi/webd?" The default title is "Filemaker WebDirect". 20mb image hosting
  17. First a disclaimer. I'm well aware that WebDirect (FM13) is not build or supported for iOS or Android tablets. I've read the specifications. And yes, things should probably be done in PHP instead. Which is no doubt, what will happen eventually. But for a number of reasons, I'm involved in a couple of projects, where we have decided to examine the borders of WebDirects compatibilty first. So I would like to hear any concrete findings from other crazy persons who have been experimenting on the wild side with WebDirect. What kind of functions and design methods work for you. What should we avoid in striving for a solution to best survive in e.g. Chrome on an Android tablet? Any experiences with Raspberry? Why is this interesting? Well, unless you publish your WebDirect solution on an intranet or another very controlled environment, there will always be users who will try to use whatever browser is at hand. So we might as well prepare and try to recognize and understand the things that can and will go wrong in those situations. Maybe we might even collect some useful feedback for the good developers at FMI. ;-)
  18. We have been struggling to deal with the fact that anyone can manually edit the WebDirect URL to gain access to things that they normally wouldn't, from IWP or even Client versions. Is there any way to disable this glaring security flaw in WebDirect? Ideally, there would be a switch we could enable or disable to mask the URL (similarly to IWP) or not, as desired. Currently, here are the workarounds we've come up with: /fmi/webd#<database>&lay=<layout name>&viewstyle=<form/list>&record=<record number>&mode=<browse/find> 1) Database: Technically not an egregious security hole, since you should have all your databases secured with login authentication anyways. This is fine. 2) Layout: A huge problem, with many potential kludgy partial solutions. Part of what complicates this is that changing the layout name to a layout of another table will set them at record number 1, full found count. For reference, the only direct way to stop them from going directly to a layout is to remove it from the user's security privileges. Here are some solutions we've bandied about (none of them are foolproof and/or easy to implement in a large existing solution): a) Using custom security options, lock the first record of every table, so that WebDirect users have no access to them. Combine with locked down toolbar and menu to effectively lock a user from seeing data they shouldn't. Downsides are obvious if the user actually needs to access the first record of a table. Also, this might not effectively stop all button scripts from firing and causing problems. b ) Name each layout with a long string of numbers and letters, making them unguessable. Downsides for developers is the obvious horror of maintenance on such a solution, and nothing stops the user from copying the layout name from one session into another. c) Using custom security options, lock every record for WebDirect users, on the condition that Get(LayoutName) = $$CurrentLayout, AND make sure ALL scripted layout navigation includes the appropriate Set Variable step. Downsides include a lot of work for large systems (less work if all navigation is funneled through a specific script or set of scripts). The ideal fix for this is to either a) disallow layout access to layouts not listed in the layout list, or b ) allow calculation engine-driven layout permissions, as done with records and fields. 3) Viewstyle: Manually edit all layouts accessible to WebDirect users to remove either form or list view, as desired. This is easily done, but a tedious and repetitive task for very large systems. Also, requires each accessible layout to be single-function, or else a user might be able to see a list view when you are not ready for them to. 4) Record number: Hide and Lock (locking is important) the toolbar. As long as it remains hidden AND locked at all times, the WebDirect users cannot manually jump to another record. 5) Mode: In layout mode, select all layout objects, and set them to non-modifiable in Find mode (or Browse mode, if that's your desire). Repeat for EACH accessible layout. This will not stop users from entering Find mode, but it will stop them from doing anything in it that you do not want them to.
  19. Hi, Can somebody tell me how to set up a webdirect solution or what i need to prepare to put a solution on a web through webdirect ? example , do i need web domain address ? , fixed ip address , etc... can it be work from my home computer ? wouldn't it be problem , my home computer's ip address is keep changing ? or does anybody know where to get a documentation regarding how to set up a webdirect solution on a web ? thanks, mikey
  20. I had to update my FM Server Mac to Yosemite and I cannot seem to enable web services. During deployment I get the message: Test web server (http://127.0.0.1:80/fmi-test/test.xml): Connection refused (Please note that this is different from 'ports are in use' which is the other common error;-) I can install and deploy FM Server 13.05 without a problem, I just can't enable web services. I did a lot of testing, de-installed, manually deleted the Library-FM server folder, etc. Re-installed, etc. (when I re-install I did get the message port 80 and 443 are in use, and did choose disable web sites) Also tried port 591 as suggested by FM, same error. (also tried 8000, to be honest I don't care on which port it is web serving, I can remap that in the router) The problem seems to lie in Yosemite switching off access to port 80 (and others). I also have Apple Server Tools so I tried the following: I switched on Web services and then I can access the ports on my local network and you get the default website. (before somebody warns me that I shouldn't use Apple Server, I first tried to get it to work without Server tools installed. And when I was still using 10.8 they co-existed very peacefully, as long as you did not switch on Apple's web services, I need them for some other stuff) When I try to deploy FM Web direct while having on Apple's web services, I get the correct 404 error because the ports are in use (by Apple's web services) When I switch off web services again then I get error 403 (instead of connection refused) but that means almost the same. (forbidden) When I then try to access port 80 from my local network it says 'websites are turned off'. kind of suggesting that the ports are closed on the server now. Please note it is not a firewall issue, I am deploying FM Server from the same mac as it is running. (localhost) I have no (software)FW enabled on that Mac. I guess I am looking for a unix command to tell Yosemite that it should allow access of ports 80 and 443... Any suggestions, work around, unix commands are appreciated... I have wasted almost a day now... Daniel
  21. Hi , In a WebDirect , Does Global field work same as regular Filemaker ? For Example , if 2 users are logged in and if there are on same pages and if there are one global field which both users are using , can that global field will hold different values per each users ? thanks, mike
  22. Hi everyone, Â Â I Need to display the Tooltips in web direct but its working filemaker pro and its working in IWP also But its not displaying in filemaker web direct can any guide me how to do this ?? Â Â Thanks Ragu
  23. I am the developer of an application that, when launched, gets a URL to an internet web page where I have written the current version number for that application. Doing some parsing on the return from the URL, the application knows this way that it has to advice the user of a new version available. I would like to do the same thing with FMS 13 and webdirect: - have some text on the connection page/layout (the version, to be parsed by my application) - collect some data from the user app (that I will put inside the URL) may be triggering a new record for every call In this way, not only I will supply the correct version number, but I will be able to collect valuable bug data from the app. Like the data that get sent to Apple when your app bombs... Is this possible ? Can some one point me in the right direction ? How do software company usually do it ? I tried a URL ("http://IpNumber/fmi/webd#tcalversion" ) with a triggered script on the first window opening of the FM file, but it only works from a web browser (safari). From my app, built with LiveCode (RunRev) I got something like: "You have to enable javascript in your browser to use an application built with Vaadin." What is "Vaadin" ? Thanks for any input. 24. I am creating a solution for WebDirect. I have a portal on the left and related records to the right. When the portal row is selected the related records show on the right. What I want to have happen is when the layout is entered to have the first portal row automatically show the related records to the right. Right now when the layout is entered, the first row of the portal does not show the related records to right (what records are shown are the last portal that was pressed before going to another layout) unless the row is pressed (there is a find script in the portal row to find the records to show on the right). How can I have on layout enter to have the first portal row selected and show the related records to the right? Thanks in advance for your help - Sam
  25. i hope somebody can help me with below Question. Does Show Custome Dialog Works in WebDirect ? Thanks, mikey
