  1. I have always developed with FileMaker for windows. I have bought myself a MacBook Air and love it. So now I am using FileMaker 16 Pro advance for MAC. I know that MAC does not label their directories like windows does. So I am having problems figuring out to get the right coding to access my photos. I have a folder called "Photos" that reside on the C: drive in windows. Then I reference that folder so pictures will populate automatically when I put in a record. Here is what I have on the windows fileMaker: ImagePath: Let ( [ // Transform the contents of a container field named Images to text ImageRef = GetAsText ( ImagePath); Photos = Position ( ImageRef; "/"; 1; PatternCount ( ImageRef; "/")) ]; Middle ( ImageRef; Photos + 1; Length ( ImageRef ) - Photos ) ) images: "imagewin:/C:/Photos/" & Film::title & ".jpg" Then I go into Import folder and point to the folder all the photos are in. The problem I have now is how to point to that folder in "imagewin", is their an alternative called imagemac, then I could put in Macintosh HD/Users/patricks/Documents. The folder is in the Document folder, called Photos. Thank you for any help.

    solutions wanted Chiropractic Office solution?

I'm looking for existing FileMaker solutions that would work for Chiropractic Office management. FileMaker, of course! Cross Platform (+ iOS for iPad - ready desired, but not required). HIPPA compliant and all that. thanks, Beverly

  4. Navigation of portals in FileMaker is a pretty simple affair, you either have a scrollbar, or you don't. In this article we demonstrate another way to navigate portals using a pagination style. We also demonstrate how it can be implemented at the relationship level, or the portal level using filtering. Read the Full Article Here…
  5. Kiosk mode is a cool way to run a FileMaker database in a full screen environment where users are prevented from accessing the other functionality of the operating system. But what if you have a normal FileMaker solution and wish to use kiosk functionality in certain areas only? In this article we illustrate how a typical FileMaker solution can be enhanced with a kiosk component for carrying out certain actions. We use the article example file to help illustrate this. We also give some information on what kiosk mode is, and things to watch out for when developing for it. Click to read the full article here…
  6. When updating any 360works-plug-in it is deactivated after any update. Sometimes it does not even is replaced. I have created batch-scripts to shut off FileMaker and then remove any 360works-plug-in. After that my user(s) have to restart the application again and the new version of (any) 360works plug-in is installed correctly and activated automatically. I also use other plug-ins by Troi, Dacons en Goya simultaniously and these work perfectly fine and also will be updated and activated when a newer version is being installed. Only the 360works-plug-ins fail to update everytime. I use the script-step "Install plug-in file" so nothing exotic is done there. The problems occur on windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 2008 and 2012. On the 32 and 64 bits versions (2012 - 64-bit only) Any suggestions or anyone else has the same trouble?
  7. Although the likelihood that any of my clients are using Macs has increased in the last decade, I still have a few clients who use Windows. The only time I launch Windows (running within VirtualBox on my laptop) is to test software. I absolutely never use it for anything else. Usually I'm testing FileMaker solutions, although there are occasions when I'm testing web sites as well. I used to keep up a bit with the Windows world, but that's no longer the case. Given that, I have absolutely no idea which version of Windows I should use. I'm using Windows 7 right now, and would like knowledgable opinions on which version I should use, 7, 8 or 10. Whichever version it is will be running in VirtualBox and only used to launch FileMaker 11/12/13/14 or one of the various web browsers. 90% of the time it'll just be FileMaker 14 Advanced. Given the above, do any of you Windows experts out there recommend moving beyond Windows 7? Thanks
  8. Somehow java updated (probably by mistake) and it killed web direct. Simply down grading java does not work. I've went as far back and un-installing java and then FMS. Then rebooting and performing a clean install of FMS. FMS 16.04 on windows server 2012 R2 My hunch is something is wrong with all the site settings in IIS from uninstall and re-install. I get this error during deployment when trying to use web direct: Test web server (http://127.0.0.1:80/fmi-test/test.xml): Error code = 404 What are the complete steps to restore web-direct? Thank you
  9. I wasn't sure exactly which forum to drop this question, but here goes: I would like for my users to be able to connect to a remote database directly from an icon on the Windows desktop. Is there a way to pass in the (remote) file to open to make that happen? Thanks! Ryan
  10. I have two users who cannot use ANY scripts in the database. This is a file we've had for about 5 years. Once a year we make a copy of the file and it's our new database for the next fiscal year. We've never had a problem. I'm using FM 11.0v1 on a Mac using OSX 10.9 and everything is fine and dandy. No issues. Another user on a Mac is also fine. However, I have two users on Windows (one user on Windows XP sp3 and another on Windows 8) using two different versions of FM (8.5v 1 and 11.0 v1) who cannot run any scripts. If you start any script, it doesn't run. I've even tried creating simple scripts that simply change a field to "9" and they still don't run. Yet, everything works fine on the Macs. The file we're using is hosted on FileMaker server and we open remotely. I've tried also opening it locally and it still doesn't work on the Windows machines. It doesn't seem to be the version of FM - I'm wondering if Windows issued some patch that affected this recently. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
  11. I 'd like to automate a bit the way my windows user access the db. First of all I d like to get rid of the annoying "feature" of windows using by default the Windows's user name in the user field in filemaker. It creates confusion to no avail because my users have to delete and re-enter. In addition I 'd love to hear what others have done, and I am in particular looking for some sort of keychain type password manager for windows. Anything on the horizon? I ve searched hi and lo to no avail, so far.
  12. I develop in an environment with a 50/50 mix of Macs and PCs and have many scripts that either export or save records out to a directory on a server. On PCs, this is very straightforward: just enter the output file path and the file saves, no other interaction required. On Macs, the only way this works is if the specific drive the directory is in gets mapped to each user's computer. This is problematic for a bunch of reasons, namely that it means extra steps and we have users who regularly delete the mounted drives and then wonder why the scripts stop working. Is there a trick for Macs that I'm just missing?
  13. Hi My scenario is, when I used to RUN a Import (Folder with Import only the reference) script from a iMac mini to remote Windows File server, it used to take 4-8 hours. But when started using the same script from Same server(Windows), it started to take more than 24 hours. Only things I have changed: Import from Windows FS ( Files of type Windows from OS X) Modified the Folder location to local server. Any suggestions or known issues.. Pls note: Previously we used Filemaker 10-11 now using 13-14 in both client server. The old Mac was OS X (10.5.8) with FM Advanced 10. And the old remote server was a Physical windows 2008 server with FM 10 server running as well as Fileserver to hold the files which where been imported as reference.
  14. Mac only printer wants to connect a new Filemaker database to Quickbooks Pro. Intuit has not supplied the SDK for Quickbooks to developers, so FMBooksConnector works only with Win Quickbooks. A short conversation with a Productive Computing tech support guy indicated that Quickbooks comes with a DataMGR that allows hosting the IFF file (Quickbooks database) and accessing it from multiple users. He indicated that he thought that a Virtual Box (or Parallels or VMWare) install on the Mac with WinXP as a client and Quickbooks DataMGR and Filemaker with FMBooksConnector would work for tying FMP with QB and even remotely accessing the Quickbooks data. Anyone have any thoughts or experience? (I realize a Windows PC would be the logical solution) It is one user accessing the QB data and double entry of the Client, Invoicing and such would be nice to eliminate. Thank you for your attention. David Anders The Computer Guy Seattle

  16. San Diego, CA - April 12, 2016 - Productive Computing, Inc., a Platinum member of the FileMaker Business Alliance, is proud to announce the release of Vessel Service Solutions (VSS) version 2. This vertical solution was designed for the marine assistance industry and operates as a virtual command center to manage vessel assistance orders. VSS version 2 offers additional features and modules, a completely redesigned UI, and improved processes for users. What is VSS? VSS was built with a “paperless and efficient” philosophy and allows users to fully digitalize the entire tow order process from beginning to end. As soon as distress calls are received, dispatchers have the ability to send mobile orders straight from the office to in-field captains. The captain receives the order on an iPad and, after assisting the boater, updates and submits the order to dispatch for final processing. VSS also allows invoices and items to be pushed directly to QuickBooks via the FM Books Connector. What's New? VSS version 1 provided companies with a customizable framework they could employ to achieve a paperless solution. Version 2 has been crafted with industry input and takes the entire tow order process to the next level by offering the user a truly comprehensive solution. Dispatch can send, receive, and submit orders for payment without printing a single document. Using FileMaker Go, captains can receive, update, and send orders from their iPads. They can even perform data entry while at sea without an internet connection. Version 2 has expanded functionality to allow users to maintain fuel logs, maintenance logs, maintenance schedules, time sheets, and pull various reports. As with most FileMaker products, this solution allows for customization, including the ability to personalize all terms, disclaimers, notes and signature requirements, company information, tower ID, and company logo in the modules. "We're quite excited about the new and improved VSS, because this dynamic solution enables users to efficiently and digitally dispatch, track, and manage tow orders, eliminating the need for time-consuming paperwork, resulting in improved accuracy and turnaround time. We've had a lot of support from industry leaders, and we're pleased to be delivering something we think will continue to greatly help the boat towing industry" - Marc Larochelle, Chief Executive Officer, Productive Computing, Inc. 17. Greetings- I finally got SC up and running in FM pro 11, and was able to use remote hosting to load the images i wanted from my main machine. When i went to my new machine, pulled up the FM database, the response i got from windows was that it was blocking SC from pulling into the webviewer, and the SC just had the image placeholder with the red X in the upper corner. I have looked at my firewall settings, and have allowed IE to have access through the firewall...am i missing something REALLY obvious? thanks in advance... Jesse
  18. Hi all, In light of FileMaker 14 (the 64-bit version in particular ), I have had to update some custom plugins that were created with ScriptMaster. However, the new plugins will not show up in FileMaker: First, I upgraded to ScriptMaster Pro 4.42 and used the new UI file. I transferred my functions' code and relevant .jars. I then registered and exported the plugin for Mac and 64-bit Windows. The Mac version worked right away, ruling out problems with my java code. The .fmx64 file however, would not show up in Filemaker at all. I tried installing from a container in a hosted solution, copying the file to the application directory, and copying it to the other plugin locations. My question: Is there any issue with 64-bit Windows plugins and FileMaker Pro Advanced 14? It won't show up in the Preferences > Plugins list at all. All of this was done to fix FileMaker's rejection of my old 32-bit plugin. Thanks - Joseph
  19. I am getting complaints and errors that are matching what I am seeing here for Windows 8 running IE10 and Opera12.  (I got this screenshot from the Microsoft browser test page, but it looks the same as one a client sent.)  The page is loading fine in FireFox and Chrome on both windows and Mac -- Is there something I can do?  Known issue?  -- Don  site: http://mobayen.macusa.net/mobayen-results.php  Â
  20. When attempting to install MirrorSync on my Windows 10 Pro, I get the following error: This is the free one-device download version that I'm trying to test. Please advice if you have any suggestions.
  21. I am not a FileMaker power user by any stretch of the imagination, nor does my question relate to any particularly sophisticated use of the program, so I hope others here will forgive and bear with me. I formed a band my junior year of college with guys who have remained my best friends throughout all of the subsequent 46 years. Though we’re scattered in different parts of the country now, we reunite at least twice a year to make music again, and for the past 23 years we have recorded songs together at these reunions. I created a FileMaker database to chronicle these recording sessions, and all of the songs done at each of them. The record for each song contains the fields you might expect: Title, Songwriter; Original Artist (for songs we didn’t write ourselves); Year; Session; Lyrics; and a repeating field for personnel — i.e., who sang and played what on each song. Each band member also has a Comment field so he can share his feelings about the song or memories of the recording session for it. We store the master copy of the database in Dropbox, and all can access it at any time — though I’ve put a system in place to ensure that no more than one person at a time can modify or add data to the file, to avoid the dreaded “conflicted copy” syndrome. Each record in the database also has a Container field for the recording it pertains to. To avoid the unthinkable bloat that would result in storing 23 years worth of .wav files in the database, I naturally used FileMaker’s “Store only a reference to this file” feature for this field. The music files themselves reside on a 128GB thumb drive. The plan was to strike exact copies of this Master thumb drive for each band member that they would physically insert into their own computers, so the the song associated with a given record would play when they access the database and double-click the Container field. Perspicacious readers may now guess where I’m headed. I am the only one of the five of us who is on a Mac system. My Master thumb drive, as well as a copy I struck from it, works perfectly for its intended purpose. I have taken the copied drive from home (where it was created) and used it with no problems whatsoever on my work Mac. No matter which Mac I use, as long as I access the database from Dropbox and have the thumb drive inserted in that Mac, all is well — since the Mac automatically “sees” and can instantly access any external device plugged into it. My bandmates, however, are all on Windows systems — and as my closest friend feared, when I sent that copy of the thumb drive to him. it did not work in the same way, due to Windows’ convention of assigning a letter to any external device plugged into a Windows-based machine. It appears a Windows system needs a strictly defined file path to locate the music files on the thumb drive. And a different letter is likely to be assigned to this drive in each person’s machine, based on how many other peripherals he has plugged into it at any given time. My obvious question: is there any way around this issue? Is there some way to tell a Windows system “Look for the music files referenced in this database on the ‘F:’ drive” (or whatever drive is appropriate)? Or is each individual member doomed to manually relinking each one of the 280 or so music files that I so carefully linked on the master thumb drive? Only my closest friend I referenced has a degree of computer savvy, so I was hoping to make this entire process as easy as possible for all concerned. Thank you very much in advance for any help that can be given. P.S. The database was created in FileMaker Pro 11.
  22. I am having trouble connecting to the admin console from another computer. I know that I need to connect with https://ipaddress:16000, but I'm not having any success. When on the server computer I can connect using localhost:16001. The problem seems to be that https isn't starting. I am running the server that is included as part of a TechNet membership on a Windows 8 64 bit computer with 4 gb of RAM. I didn't have a web server setup on the machine originally but the install seems to have started it. When I checked the settings in IIS manager the FM Web Site didn't have https activated. I changed the advanced settings but it still doesn't start https after a reboot. I think it is also preventing me from uploading a database from FileMaker Pro. I have attached a screenshot of IIS Manager with the settings. Has anyone had a similar problem or know what I might do to correct this problem? Any help would be appreciated.
  23. I use a main menu layout to navigate through the various tables and layouts with buttons. I'm trying to write a script that will ask if a window with a certain name is open, then go to it, or if not then run a script I have to open a new window and go to a particular layout. Trying to prevent having multiple windows open with the same table/layout. Any suggestions. Thanks.
  24. We have a script using the 360 Works plugin and it worked for a long time and know we get the message "No login methods supported!". The script is connecting to an exchange server with Imap. In the script we already use "forceTrust=True". Is there somebody who has the same problem ?
  25. Hello, I installed supercontainer on my Windows server at aws Amazon. I also installed the companion plug-in. It shows up on Filemaker Pro no problem. But it doesn't show on webdirect. Any idea? Here is my configuration: - FMS 15, Windows 2016 server. - SuperContainer 2.94, build 9234. - I have the companion plugin put inside "..\FileMaker Server\Web Publishing\publishing-engine\cwpc\Plugins". - The plug-in I use is "SuperContainer_Companion_Plugin.fmx64". Thanks. P.S.: I will send an email to 360works. But just want to post it here so we can all share the solution. Thanks.
