  1. I have an rss feed that returns data like this: 2009 LLCs, Corporations, & Business Legal Updates 2009 Personal Finance Legal Updates 2010 LLCs, Corporations, & Business Legal Updates 2010 Personal Finance Legal Updates 2011 Personal Finance Legal Updates 2012 Wills, Trusts, and Estates Legal Updates If I click on one of the links I can see the XML. I need to import all of the XML into my database. I have done XML/XSL imports before, but it is throwing me off because of the RSS List. How do I go about this? Right now I do a copy/paste on view source, put all of that into Notepad++ and then scrub the data. I use that for an import into a Filemaker table to get the URL. Then I do an insert by URL to get the XML into the table. This seems like a lot, I am hoping there is an easier way....

  3. I've attached two files. The first one is INVOICE, that is generated by every establishment when you purchase, and is in xml format. The second one is XSLT file, that is provided by government fiscal institution and is used to "translate" xml. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: when I try to decode xml using attached xslt scheme on any online xml-converter website the output looks fine. BUT when importing to Filemaker, I receive an error: "XML parsing error: invalid document structure". I would appreciate any help with the issue. Thanks. XML input.xml XSLT scheme.xslt

  5. SalesOrder_MagentoSales.xsd SalesOrder_MagentoSales.xsdHi and thanks in advance if you are reading my issue. I have data in filemaker that i need to export to XML so my ERP system can pull it in and create a Sales order. I have the XML Schema and also have a sample XML of what it should look like. The missing piece is i don't have a XSL style sheet and not sure where to start or how to create one. I been looking a many sites and many post, but feel I'm getting more confused than anything else. Can somebody point me in the right direction or possibly help me create the XSL Style sheet? I'm a visual person and have tried looking for videos or instructions, but not luck yet. The ERP system we're using is Microsoft AX 2012 R2 and will be using an AIF port to pull the XML to create the order. Any help would be appreciate it.. Attached is the XML Schema and the XML sample and the FM database with the data. Thank you SalesOrder_MagentoSales.xsd B2B_MagentoOrder.xml ExternalOrders.zip
  6. A client of mine wants to tie their solution to Converge (https://www.myvirtualmerchant.com/VirtualMerchant/). They offer an XML option, so it look feasible, but I was wondering if anyone else has tied a Filemaker solution to Converge's API? Also, with the new EMV Chip Cards, does anyone recommend any particular payment gateway for Filemaker? Or do the new chip cards not affect anything? Any and all info about payment API's most welcome. FM Pro and Server 14, Mac OS X environment. Thanks!
  7. MS Word allows automatically numbered headings, such as, 1.1, 1.2.1, 1.2.2, etc. Using WordML, is it possible to force the heading number to any numbering I want? I'd like to specify, for example, 1.3.2, then 1.4.1.1, then 1.4.1.2, then 1.5.1. Any ideas? And, if this isn't the best place to post, I'm open to suggestions for a better forum. Thanks, Mike
  8. Hi I'm trying to develop an interface between my filemaker database and a SOAP service. No where in the wsdl is there any authorisation so I believe I need to send my username and password before the SOAP envelope. I'm trying to do that with Scriptmaster but there are only three input parameters none of which appear useful for generating or inputting the HTTP authorisation Basic that needs to be in place. I can't see the fedex modules which may have had the parameters I needed. Can anybody help/advise or suggest another plugin I should use. Many thanks for reading this.

  10. I've got a project that I think would benefit from the use of being able to import and update fields from an external source like XML. In this case Stock information. I'm pretty new to importing XML data and couldn't get anything to work for me. I suppose I just don't fully understand the mechanics of the process. I did some research and found that you can query Yahoo Finance and it will return XML data: http://thesimplesynthesis.com/article/finance-apis Is it possible to update one record at a time, and also update all the records at once? What's needed to do this? Is there a base template to start from? How are fields linked? XML template file? If there are any tutorials or guides on this or any supporting information on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm trying to import the following XML data: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <customers xmlns="http://acme.com/schema/v1_2/customers.xsd"> <customer ID="1"> <city>Monterey</city> <name>Herbson's Pices</name> <orders> <order ID="ORD2"> <num>1</num> <date>12-01-2002</date> <amount>23.54</amount> <items> <item> <productID>ABC123</productID> <quantity>1</quantity> <description>Oregano</description> <price>23.54</price> <extended>23.54</extended> </item> </items> </order> <order ID="ORD3"> <num>2</num> <date>01-06-2003</date> <amount>15.45</amount> <items> <item> <productID>23_45d</productID> <quantity>2</quantity> <description>Rosemary</description> <price>5.00</price> <extended>10.00</extended> </item> <item> <productID>t456</productID> <quantity>5</quantity> <description>Thyme</description> <price>1.09</price> <extended>5.45</extended> </item> </items> </order> </orders> </customer> <customer ID="2"> <city>New York</city> <name>A Pealing Desserts</name> <orders> <order ID="ORD4"> <num>1</num> <date>11-15-2002</date> <amount>115.00</amount> <items> <item> <productID>ABC123</productID> <quantity>5</quantity> <description>Lemon Zests</description> <price>23.00</price> <extended>115.00</extended> </item> </items> </order> </orders> </customer> </customers>I'm using the following XSLT: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0"> <xsl:output version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" indent="no" method="xml"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <FMPXMLRESULT xmlns="http://www.filemaker.com/fmpxmlresult"> <ERRORCODE>0</ERRORCODE> <PRODUCT BUILD="11/13/2002" NAME="FileMaker Pro" VERSION="6.0v4"/> <DATABASE DATEFORMAT="M/d/yyyy" LAYOUT="" NAME="Customers.FP5" RECORDS="" TIMEFORMAT="h:mm:ss a"/> <METADATA> <FIELD EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT="1" NAME="ID" TYPE="NUMBER"/> <FIELD EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT="1" NAME="Name" TYPE="TEXT"/> <FIELD EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT="1" NAME="City" TYPE="TEXT"/> </METADATA> <RESULTSET FOUND=""> <xsl:for-each select="./customers/customer"> <ROW MODID="" RECORDID=""> <COL> <DATA> <xsl:value-of select="@ID"/> </DATA> </COL> <COL> <DATA> <xsl:value-of select="./name"/> </DATA> </COL> <COL> <DATA> <xsl:value-of select="./city"/> </DATA> </COL> </ROW> </xsl:for-each> </RESULTSET> </FMPXMLRESULT> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> When I apply this stylesheet to the XML I'm not getting any data, i.e just this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <FMPXMLRESULT xmlns="http://www.filemaker.com/fmpxmlresult"> <ERRORCODE>0</ERRORCODE> <PRODUCT VERSION="6.0v4" NAME="FileMaker Pro" BUILD="11/13/2002"/> <DATABASE TIMEFORMAT="h:mm:ss a" RECORDS="" NAME="Customers.FP5" LAYOUT="" DATEFORMAT="M/d/yyyy"/> <METADATA> <FIELD TYPE="NUMBER" NAME="ID" MAXREPEAT="1" EMPTYOK="YES"/> <FIELD TYPE="TEXT" NAME="Name" MAXREPEAT="1" EMPTYOK="YES"/> <FIELD TYPE="TEXT" NAME="City" MAXREPEAT="1" EMPTYOK="YES"/> </METADATA> <RESULTSET FOUND=""/> </FMPXMLRESULT>I've noticed that if I change the 2nd line of the XML to just: <customers>it then transforms successfully and I can import it. I'd prefer not to have to manually change the XML - is there something I can do to the XSLT to allow it to work successfully. This is the result I'm expecting: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <FMPXMLRESULT xmlns="http://www.filemaker.com/fmpxmlresult"> <ERRORCODE>0</ERRORCODE> <PRODUCT VERSION="6.0v4" NAME="FileMaker Pro" BUILD="11/13/2002"/> <DATABASE TIMEFORMAT="h:mm:ss a" RECORDS="" NAME="Customers.FP5" LAYOUT="" DATEFORMAT="M/d/yyyy"/> <METADATA> <FIELD TYPE="NUMBER" NAME="ID" MAXREPEAT="1" EMPTYOK="YES"/> <FIELD TYPE="TEXT" NAME="Name" MAXREPEAT="1" EMPTYOK="YES"/> <FIELD TYPE="TEXT" NAME="City" MAXREPEAT="1" EMPTYOK="YES"/> </METADATA> <RESULTSET FOUND=""> <ROW RECORDID="" MODID=""> <COL> <DATA>1</DATA> </COL> <COL> <DATA>Herbson's Pices</DATA> </COL> <COL> <DATA>Monterey</DATA> </COL> </ROW> <ROW RECORDID="" MODID=""> <COL> <DATA>2</DATA> </COL> <COL> <DATA>A Pealing Desserts</DATA> </COL> <COL> <DATA>New York</DATA> </COL> </ROW> </RESULTSET> </FMPXMLRESULT>Is there a way I can keep the raw XML as is but modify the XSL somehow to import successfully just as it does when I remove the: xmlns="http://acme.com/schema/v1_2/customers.xsd"string?
  12. I need some help importing a RSS 2.0 XML into FileMaker Pro Adv 10. I'm trying to modify a xslt file that came with FM. 13. Hi all, I'm completely new to XML and I'm making an XLST for an XML feed into my Filemaker database. Surprisingly, I got the basics down rather fast, but I'm really stumped on a few fields. See attached XLST, sample dataset and Filemaker test database. Referencing the XSLT metadata, the import works perfectly fine for the nodes named 'titleId' down through 'dealType' as well as the nodes under 'licensingWindow'. However I can't seem to get the values of a few other nodes. The trouble for me is that the nodes are nested in as child nodes that aren't named uniquely and I just can't figure out how to get their values. Example: <titleListingTextSets> <listingTexts> <listingText> <name>SYNOPSIS75</name> <value>Mickey continues to feel mounting pressure from the network.</value> </listingText> <listingText> <name>SYNOPSIS234</name> <value>Mickey continues to feel mounting pressure from the network as an affiliates dinner is fast approaching and they need something to sell to advertisers.</value> </listingText> <listingText> What I'm looking for is the value (text beginning with the word Mickey) of the field 'value' on the node under the ones whose name is 'name' containing the values 'SYNOPSIS75' and 'SYNOPSIS234'. Those values seem to be the only way to uniquely identify the 'value' fields. That's what I'm not getting. I had one try that did correctly identify and pull over the value data but it messed with the overall for-each I need for importing a number of records and thus I only got the data for a single record. I'm guessing there is an easy fix for this, but I'm just not familiar enough with XML to know it yet. I'd really appreciate it if someone could point me toward the right technique to use on this. You'll see in my XLST some of my failed attempts, if you'd like to see what I was trying. Thanks in advance, Mark NO_SYNOPSES_OR_LICENSE.xslt XML_TEST.fmp12 Sample_Data.xml
  14. Hi! I have this persistant problem when I try to import my XLM data into filemaker. I use various XML inportations in my filemaker database and they all import perfect with the msdso_elem.xslt file, but not this xml type! I don't know what I'm doing wrong... 15. Hi everyone, I am new here. I just began working with a project that has been using FileMaker Server 9 and Pro 9. The current architecture uses one machine deployment but the machine is quite ancient and doesn't support any micro-frameworks that eases my web development duties. I wanted to split this architecture to a multi machine deployment this ancient machine having only the Database, another better machine having a webserver and/or a web publishing engine. The reasoning behind this being that I can use a webserver(Gunicorn + Flask) and use PyFileMaker to obtain my data from the DB using XML. I, however, realize that the web publishing engine is required at the database to publish my XML data which in turn requires a web server running(apache). This goes back to the same one machine deployment. Am I missing a point here? Thank you so much for taking your time to read this. It would be truly awesome if you could help me with this question. Thank you once again and have a good day. Regards, Arjun
  16. Last week I did the FMS upgrade from 13.0.4 to 13.0.5, and my database has stopped providing an XML feed that worked for a a few years (and that powers one portion of my organization's Web site). I'm going to append all the information that might be pertinent. First, what I've already done: - I've Edited Deployment, asking it to enable XML. (First asked it to turn off Web Publishing, then a second pass to turn it on again.) I've then gone into Web Publishing and asked it to enable WebDirect and PHP (just wondering is that would kick-start a process). - I've run iisreset /noforce from the Windows command line. - I've rebooted. Also, I have a static IP on this machine, but in its interface, it provides what looks like an internal IP address. The next thing I guess I'll do is call support and/or reinstall, but I'm posting this to ask for related wisdom. I will mention that since we moved into a new building a few weeks ago, I've been haunted by connectivity problems - some folks get kicked off a couple of times an hour. I think that's an internal problem related to hardware/cable (since I was able to connect remotely from home and remain connected for 24 hours), but I mention it here in case it seems germane.
  17. Not too sure where to start here... I need FM to post data to a SOAp web service. From what i understand this is feasible with ScriptMaster plugin thanks to module Post XML Data. However, i'm struggling to get adequate documentation on what's next... I understand how to register the plugin, access the external function thanks to the custom plugin i have created. Post XML Data requires: url: that one is fairly easy to figure outxml: i can handle that one as well based on what i want to send to the target web servicesoapaction: now that one is beyond me... Is that the name of the operation ?Also i can't seem to find anywhere a way to include credentials in the outgoing stream... is that supported ? Hope someone can help... Thanks
  18. Dear friends, Could someone check my XSL. 19. I am rewriting our 15 satellite offices to be on one web server, instead of individual FMP software solutions. I am rewriting anyway because my files are large and too much code and layouts are not used that happens from 20 years of adding on, it is just time... They will be able to share the database direct, but when it comes to iPad and iPhone, just downloading Filemaker Go and then emailing them the revised smaller designed layouts will give them the data access to the server database, correct? There is no need for webdirect. I would also like to have our customers forms update directly into our database from our website. So, my plan is to use PHP to connect the web data into the same Filemaker Server. Again, no need for webdirect and no need for those additional licenses, correct? Upgrading from Filemaker 12 to Filemaker 13 does not require us to use webdirect? Thanks
  20. Hi All, I was tasked with building a solution to communicate with a web service. I have to my disposal : FMAdv 13 Fmnexus plugin WDSL for the web service. Server certificate for this web service With this solution I have to post xml to the web service ( over https ) and then parse the xml again. The producing and parsing of the xml should not be a problem. However, I am not sure of three things : 1. Is the filemaker 13 http-post function capable of posting xml ? or is this just a simple tool ? 2. Does anyone know the state of the FMNexus plugin ? The website where we used to be able to get the plugin just says it has not been tested. 3. Is there a better alternative for a plugin that can do this. I have heard about the baseElements plugin ; is this plugin capable of doing this ? Thanks in advance !
  21. Hello, I have XML data from an online form service (below). How can I get the data into fields in FM? Each record in my FM contains fields for each xml_serializer_tag/value. Also, is there a way to use a ‘for-each’ loop to create the field names in the meta data section (rather than manually describing each)? There is MUCH more data in the actual XML. I was able to create an XSLT that transforms the info. But it was all getting dumped into one field, rather than each into their own. Thanks for your help. XML <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <response status="ok"> <submissions> <submission> <id>179890809</id> <timestamp>2015-01-21 07:44:55</timestamp> <data> <XML_Serializer_Tag> <field>29367523</field> <label>Email</label> <value>something@somewhere.com</value> </XML_Serializer_Tag> <XML_Serializer_Tag> <field>29367524</field> <label>Name</label> <value>Fry</value> </XML_Serializer_Tag> </data> </submission> <submission> <id>179988171</id> <timestamp>2015-01-27 10:11:54</timestamp> <data> <XML_Serializer_Tag> <field>29367523</field> <label>Email</label> <value>test@example.com</value> </XML_Serializer_Tag> <XML_Serializer_Tag> <field>29367524</field> <label>Name</label> <value>Leela</value> </XML_Serializer_Tag> </data> </submission> <submission> <id>17998369</id> <timestamp>2015-02-17 11:15:24</timestamp> <data> <XML_Serializer_Tag> <field>29367523</field> <label>Email</label> <value>some@example.com</value> </XML_Serializer_Tag> <XML_Serializer_Tag> <field>29367524</field> <label>Name</label> <value>Bender</value> </XML_Serializer_Tag> </data> </submission> </submissions> </response> XSLT attempt (zero errors, but not getting the data into fields the way I would like) <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:template match="/"> <FMPXMLRESULT xmlns="http://www.filemaker.com/fmpxmlresult"> <METADATA> <FIELD NAME="Email" TYPE="TEXT"/> <FIELD NAME="Name" TYPE="TEXT"/> </METADATA> <RESULTSET FOUND=""> <xsl:for-each select="//submission"> <ROW MODID="" RECORDID=""> <COL> <DATA><xsl:value-of select="data/XML_Serializer_Tag/value"/></DATA> </COL> </xsl:for-each> </RESULTSET> </FMPXMLRESULT> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet>
  22. I have a client that would like to use MS Access to connect to a table in a solution hosted on FMS 14.0.3. What I'm reading suggests that was possible with .fmp5 and .fmp7 but is no longer available in .fm12. I've tried to use Access and both (mac) Excel and (windows) Excel to connect via ODBC to the FMS hosted table and I can construct the query and see the fields, but when I submit the request I get an error. Is it still possible to connect Excel or Access to FileMaker 14.0.3 (hosted)? The error I get appears on the attached screenshot. Is anyone currently doing this? Thank you in advance.
  23. When I try to import a rather large XML file I get a rather unhelpful error message (see attachment). The file in question is about 860MB and contains about 100 000 records in an XML ONIX format. Working with books this is not unusual. The error message in question is very poor though so it's nearly impossible to find what is not working. ONIX records grows and this file stopped working after it reached a certain size. I do believe all records are fine and properly formated, but FileMaker doesn't seem capable of handling such a large file. To me it almost seems like it runs out of memory? Is there anyway to circumvent this? Software: FileMaker 13, OS X 10.10.3, iMac 27" (late 2013), 8GB memory.Â
  24. This topic is only slightly related to XML/XSL but I'm coming up short asking The Google. Has anyone used Filemaker data such as a teacher, list of students and course name, exported and transformed to XML via XSL, to create a Google Group? Ideally, I could create a private group, setup up the teacher as the moderator, the students as participants and name the group according to the course name. I've been unable to find a specification for Google group creation using XML tags. I'm not interested in trying to write a Google App. Thanks.
Martin test.xml
