Raybaudi Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 It appears he isn't here nor in fmdev.filemaker.com from 01/27/2013.
bruceR Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I wondered about that myself. His contributions have been so helpful and creative, and he has been a valued member of the community for so many years. 1
Rick Whitelaw Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I hope and trust he's fine and busy. Can anyone pm him?
dansmith65 Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I've been wondering this as well! I assumed he was either spending time at fmdev.filemaker.com (which I rarely visit), or on vacation. I just PM'd him.
bruceR Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 It seemed odd that for somebody as accomplished as Michael, he didn't have FileMaker 12, so I wondered how well his work was going.
Raybaudi Posted March 10, 2013 Author Posted March 10, 2013 I do not think that he doesn't have FileMaker 12, but that he doesn't like it ( at this stage ). This is surely true for me.
LaRetta Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I do not think we should speculate at all - particularly about his income or reasoning. If he wanted to post or he could post, he would. Sometimes folks have other things (even better things) going on and nothing says this was his livelihood at all nor do we have a clue as to his reason for not using 12. Sometimes it is confusing to move to next platform if all your work is on the prior ... I know I have difficulty stepping back into 11 now, LOL. We are greatly blessed from what he has given and, thanks to Stephen, that information is still available. I hope we get the attic back. I would hate to lose his principles and interpretations which will hold true through several versions. And I hope he comes back as well. 2
bruceR Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 "I do not think that he doesn't have FileMaker 12, but that he doesn't like it ( at this stage )." No; he said directly and repeatedly that he doesn't have it.
Vaughan Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Getting Michael a copy of FMP 12 was a "throw money at it" problem. We could have passed a hat around and given him a license as a gift. Hopefully he's not posting to forums because he's too busy earning obscene amounts of money, totally commensurate with his knowledge and experience, doing the most interesting and fun projects on the planet. 1
bcooney Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 I do hope you're right, Vaughan. I am concerned and hope we hear from him.
bruceR Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Maybe he is on a top secret mission for FileMaker. He'd be great.
Raybaudi Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 Michael has never been away from the forum for so long! I highly doubt about his health ... no one has heard from him?
Josh Ormond Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I agree, speculation does no good. Definitely would be good to hear from him. I know I've learned a ton from him over the last 6 or 7 years.
Mr. Scott Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Hi Raybaudi and all responders: I am embarrassed I have not noticed this. I think Raybaudi did a great thing in reaching out to ensure "comment" is O.K., and to share acknowledgment of "Comment"'s absence, in concern for "Comment"'s welfare. I can tell you I have learned a lot from the "comments" of "Comment", and wish I had said so in response to "Comment"'s posted messages. Raybaudi is to be applauded for "publicly" stating his concern. Maybe…", I think Raybaudi thought, "someone else in fmForums knows "Comment" personally, and can validate 'Comment's' welfare?" This would allay the concern of all of those who know (like you, or those who don't yet know they should be concerned) that "Comment" missing? So, "Thanks!" RayBaudi…and, I hope "Comment" is alive and well. Selfishly, I hope "Comment" will be fine, and will continue to "contribute" here, and elsewhere. Sincerely, - - Scott Comment/tag: also referred to as "Michael Horak" (unconfirmed).
Charity Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Oh good to hear! I thought he must have been offered job as FM president and that he might show up at DevConn as a surprise for everyone. At least I was hoping that was the case.
