HI !!!

I'm web designer student in Norway, and I need some help with a question !

Can anyone help me ?

I got this question on my term paper :

Both these links will access same post in a Filemaker database. What's the difference between this two links ?

1 . http://....FMPro?-db=tekster.fp3&-lay=detaljer&-Format=les.htm&-RecID=45&Find

2 . http://....FMPro?-db=tekster.fp3&-lay=detaljer&-Format=les.htm&id=126&-Find

I'm not very good in Filemaker. I just known the program last 6 month.

I thought a post in Filemaker was unique. But these two links have two different numbers !

So I hope you understand what I mean !

Hope I will get a fast reply !

Kind regards from

The topis wrong!!!!!!

The bottom one searches on a Field called "id" and will work the top one searches on RecID and is wrong

RecID is a built in record identifier in FMPro and should be used to identify records for -Edit, -Delete etc actions not -Find

The RecID number FMPro assigns to a record can be anything (but will always be unique) and shouldn't be compared to a sequential Serial Auto Enter Field which I would imagine "id" is.

You must never "Hard Code" record ID into you HTML/CDML and should be dynamically got from the DB with the record ID replacement tag after the record has been found. The record ID for a record "can" change when a database is restarted but will always be unique.

Other than that the top URL has syntax errors (missing "&" and "-")

Hope this helps
