i know that this is done with a plugin. can anyone suggest a reliable one.

Well, notably, you can also schedule using an outside language. Applescript is particularly easy.

FYI - the plugin I know of that does this, if you do want to go that route, is called 'Events' from a company called 'Waves in Motion'
