Post data to filemaker by HTML Link in email

Hi Folks,

I am wondering if someone can point me in the right direction, I am making a system for a friend he would like to be able to confirm the receipt of an email by the user clicking a Hyperlink within an email that has been sent from filemaker.

The Table structure is as below

Email sent::Subject

Email sent::email address

Email sent::date

Email sent::received check

 

What he would like to do is for there to be a unique link for each user included in the body of the email, when a user clicks this link the received check is added to the correct record so he can see via filemaker who has not clicked the link. The email would be sent to around 200 users each time.

We are going to be running Filemaker Server 16 and I have no real idea of where to start on this aspect, would a PHP solution be required and could that handle the confirmation without the end user needing to do any additional data entry? i.e. they click the link and land on a webpage saying thank you your confirmation has been received?
