bbaliner Posted June 25, 2002 Posted June 25, 2002 Hi guys and gals, I'm running FileMaker Server 5.0 on a dedicated NT workstation. I am thinking about disabling bunch of services on this NT box for security reasons, but don't know which ones are critical to FMS. For example, will I mess it up by disabling local Network DDE, or Server services? I also scanned my ports, and see only UDP ports open. But my FMS is configured for TCP/IP, so in other words FileMaker Server works through UDP ports? Thanks in advance
Will Posted June 27, 2002 Posted June 27, 2002 I believe you will need to leave task scheduler enabled if you are using FileMaker server to automatically backup your files. Not sure about the server service - that may only be relevant for Microsoft file sharing type access. Will
bbaliner Posted July 2, 2002 Author Posted July 2, 2002 Thanks Will, Any particular reason why UDP ports are more secure than TCP, or it doesn't matter? BB
