[FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE]
Prague, CZ -- December 17, 2019 -- 24U extends the range of hardware modules that can be easily integrated with the FileMaker platform by adding support the popular open-source hardware platform Arduino. The successful Phidgets Plug-In so becomes Bridge to reflect the growing range of supported hardware platforms.
24U Bridge is a module (add-on, plug-in) that acts as a bridge between software apps, developed on the FileMaker platform, and physical devices to allow them to be controlled by the software or to control the software.
Bridge has been known as 24U Phidgets Plug-In for over 10 years since 2008 as a plug-in enabling the FileMaker platform to integrate with physical devices provided by Phidgets, Inc. Today, 24U has extended its support to the world of Arduino, another popular sort of physical devices, commonly used for electronics prototyping projects, changing its name to Bridge to reflect the fact that it's no longer limited to a single technology. Support for more device technologies is expected to be added to the product in the future, depending on actual demand.
According to Arduino AG, "Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards are able to read inputs - light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message - and turn it into an output - activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online. You can tell your board what to do by sending a set of instructions to the microcontroller on the board."
The Arduino project started in 2005 as a program for students at the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea in Ivrea, Italy, aiming to provide a low-cost and easy way for novices and professionals to create devices that interact with their environment using sensors and actuators. Since then in became popular not only for students and hobbyists, but also for technology professionals looking for cost-effective way to build custom hardware solutions addressing specific, often new or unique, business needs.
About Bridge for Arduino
Bridge for Arduino enables FileMaker Pro to interact with custom hardware devices based on the popular open-source Arduino platform while maintaining the ease of use typical for FileMaker development.
By default, Arduino boards come free of any software and developers have to write their own code to make them do something. Bridge for Arduino comes with a ready-to-use firmware that saves FileMaker developers from having to write a single line of programming language code, letting them to focus on their use cases and easily control their devices directly from FileMaker Pro.
The plug-in lets FileMaker developers easily:
Read from Arduino pins to process digital signals and sensor values Write directly to Arduino pins to control various electrical devices Control servo and stepper motors to automate moving parts of robots and machines Display text on an LCD display to provide custom user interface such as cashbox Connect Arduino boards over network to control and monitor distant devices Install 24U's firmware to Arduino to avoid having to write your own C code The first version of Bridge for Arduino supports Arduino UNO board and its 100% compatible clones, Arduino Starter Kit, Arduino Ethernet shield, and the ESP-01 wi-fi module. Support for other boards and modules will be added in the future based on actual demand, support for specific setup can be also added upon request as a custom modification.
Availability and Pricing of Bridge for Arduino
Licenses for Bridge for Arduino start at US$79 per user and device or $249 per user with unlimited devices. Volume discounts are available for 5 or more users.

New FileMaker 18 version improves flash dialog and progress bar.
Alphen aan den Rijn, the Netherlands, October 14, 2019–Troi today announced the immediate availability of Troi Dialog Plug-in 8.0 for FileMaker Pro 18.
What is Troi Dialog Plug-in?
Troi Dialog Plug-in is a very powerful tool for displaying all sorts of dialogs in FileMaker Pro. The text of the dialog and of the buttons can be created dynamically by using a script step or a calculation. All from within FileMaker you can:
show an input dialog to let a user input data in up to 15 fields and up to 4 buttons choose these input fields to be any of the following: simple text, password field, popup list or check box show a list dialog or very big text dialog show temporary flash screens show a progress bar for lengthy operations add a standard icon or your own custom icons What is new in version 8.0?
Troi Dialog Plug-in 8.0 has the following new functionality:
Tested and made compatible with FileMaker Pro 18 and macOS 10.15 (Catalina). Tested and made compatible with Windows 10 version 1903 (May 2019 Update). Improved the Show Flash Dialog script step and the Dial_FlashDialog function. You can now specify a countdown text to be displayed at the bottom of the dialog, for example the text “This flash dialog will dismiss in <secs> seconds”. The plug-in will substitute <secs> with the number of seconds remaining. Improved the Dial_ProgressBar function. It can now display icons, including custom icons. In version 8.0 we also made the following improvements:
IMPORTANT (macOS only) The minimum supported FileMaker version is now FileMaker Pro 14. Also the minimum supported Mac OS version is now OS X 10.11 (El Capitan). You can keep using v7.5.x for older versions of FileMaker Pro or Mac OS X. (macOS) Fixed a problem with the Dial_IconControl function where a custom icon would not be shown on a dialog, for some JPEG based icons. (Windows) Improved the Dial_ProgressBar function. The plug-in now properly handles the case where the parent window of the progress bar is closed before the progress bar dialog is removed. Also improved the case where you show another Troi dialog when the progress bar dialog is still visible. The new dialog will now be in front and have the keyboard focus. (Windows) Fixed a bug where improper handling of a closing FileMaker parent window could lead to a crash. This could happen when multiple Troi Dialogs where shown in one script. (Windows) Fixed a bug in the Dial_Dialog function where closing the dialog could lead to a crash. (macOS) Prepared the plug-in for notarization: the plug-in can now be added to a runtime, to create a hardened FileMaker runtime app which can be notarized by Apple. Notarization gives users more confidence, as the runtime has been checked by Apple for malicious components. Improved the initialization when installing the plug-in with the FileMaker Pro “Install Plug-In File” script step. Modernized several example files and updated the code base. More detailed information on all changes and improvements implemented in Troi Dialog Plug-in 8.0 can be found on the Dialog Plug-in page.

The 24U's latest FileMaker plug-in now allows for mobile custom apps to securely process credit card payments on the go.
Prague, CZ -- June 28, 2019 -- 24U Software has released Gonector 1.2.2, a new version of the latest FileMaker plug-in designed specifically for mobile custom apps running on iPads and iPhones. The new version adds direct support for mobile payment terminals from Infinite Peripherals and Ingenico, making it possible to seamlessly integrate credit card payments processing directly to the custom app developed with the FileMaker platform.
About payment terminals
Accepting credit card payments on the go has strict security requirements, which are even not the same on the east and west sides of the Atlantic ocean. Common approach is that the mobile sales person is equipped with a stand-alone payment terminal, so whatever amount they need to charge needs to be manually entered on the terminal's keyboard.
If the source of the data about the sale is a custom app running on an iPhone or iPad, the most convenient way to implement the payment process is to integrate the payment terminal directly with the app, so that the sales person does not have to re-type the payment amount to the terminal. The application also securely receives confirmation or denial of the payment, so it immediately and reliably knows, whether the payment was successful.
The payment terminal takes care of reading encrypted data from the customer's credit card. In Europe it also takes care of directly processing the payment transaction online with the credit card issuer. In North America the payment terminal can just provide the encrypted data to the custom app, which then uses payment processing service, such as Stripe, to actually process the payment transaction.
Gonector is a FileMaker plug-in that allows a native application for iPhone or iPad to communicate directly with mobile hardware devices. Being able to interact with professional mobile devices enables you to use the FileMaker platform to create a POS, Inventory and lots of other heavy-duty mobile business apps with friendly, fast, and reliable user interface.
The plug-in already supports mobile receipt printers, RFID readers, barcode scanners, digital weighing scales, and even NFC reading built into iPhone 7 or newer, which does not require any additional hardware to work.
Since the mobile processing differs between North America and Europe, 24U has chosen one popular brand of payment terminals for each continent, Infinite Peripherals for North America, and Ingenico for Europe, and added support for their devices to the Gonector plug-in to allow such seamless integration for custom apps developed using the FileMaker platform.
Availability and Pricing of Gonector
Licenses for Gonector start at US$499 per app deployed to up to 20 users.
License for Payment Terminals Edition of Gonector is available for US$7999 and includes implementation support for one type of payment terminal.
