Update records from website

Featured Replies

I sell a runtime solution that comes with a rolodex of addresses. But these addresses change frequently. Currently I send out address update files that are imported by a script. But I would prefer to have a button that says "update addresses" Whenever the user presses the button, the solution goes online and updates the records from a master database on my website. I have no idea how to do this. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I've not tried, but it is my understanding that this would be possible with the recently released Troi URL plug-in:

http://www.troi.com/software/urlplugin.html

It may also be possible with doHTTP or getHTTP - if you are able to locate them (e4marketing who were the vendor for getHTTP seem to have vanished recently - as indicated on some other posts on the forum...). But Troi might be the best place to start, if you're interested in a plug-in based approach.

It worked!!!! Thank you!!!

I put a txt file with the new data up on my website. Using the plugin, I brought the entire text file into a text field on a database with no records. Then using a script I split that field into different records, and spread the data amongst various fields (name, street, city, state, zip, etc). Then I imported these records into my current database.

This is very exciting!
