need help with script making

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm not a pro with FM scripting and i need help!!

My boss asked me to create a db that would contain time sheets for the employees. I want each employee to see only there own time sheet.

I have a "login screen" where I prompt the user for his name and a password and then with a botton, I check it against another db that only contains names and password. If everything match I want to search for the user records.

Maybe it is simple but it's not working. Every time I give a name and a valid password, when I press the search botton, I get a message that my search field is empty... or something like that (the message is in french!)

I would like to give you what's in my script but I don't know the correct instruction in english... sorry!

Can anyone help me?

Thank you

Brigitte

You already have a db which contains employee names and passwords. Your boss told you to create a timesheet db, where you "want each employee to see only there own time sheet."

If you set up a relationship between the timesheet db and the employee db, you can display the timesheet info in a layout of the employee db through portals.

Perhaps you should look in the Sample Files forum, if you have not already done so. Russ Baker posted something which may be useful to you about using portals and relationships, etc. Try clicking on this link: http://www.fmforums.com/threads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=files&Number=43001&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1
