joecollver Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 Why is the Paragraph formatting button dimmed whenever you bring up the text formatting window for a number or date field? It makes it impossible to change the indentation for a date or number field without specifying a different field, making the changes you want (e.g. adding 4 pixels of indentation), then switching back to the date or number field you originally specified.
Vaughan Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 You know, I discovered that yesterday. I don't have an answer. But I share your surprise!
CobaltSky Posted September 30, 2002 Posted September 30, 2002 I'm guessing that since you can't enter carriage returns into data, time or number fields, FMP figured that the concept of paragraphs has no meaning in relation to them and dimmed it out. A wrong move, but that is probably the logic. However, there is a much quicker solution than changing the data type to text and back again, which is to go to Format > Line Spacing > Custom, which brings up the Paragraph window anyway, regardless of field data type settings.
